Anti-lock braking system warning light
 When this light comes on, the anti-lock braking system is not functioning and only the ordinary braking system is functioning.  Park your vehicle in a safe
place and stop the engine.
Test the system as described on page 5-75.  If the light does not go out after the test
, or if it comes on again, we recom-
mend that you have the system checked at
an authorized Mitsubishi Motors
dealer or a repair facility of your choice as soon as possible.

Tire pressure monitoring system warning light
 If the warning light comes on, you should
stop and adjust the tires to the
proper inflation pressure as soon as possible. (See “Tire inflation pressures” on page 9-17.)Once adjustments have been made, the
warning light will go off after a few
minutes of driving.  If the warning light blinks for approximately 1 minute and then remain continuously illuminated, the system is not operating properly. If the sys- tem returns to normal, the warning light will go off. If the warning light does not go off, have the vehicle inspected at an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.

The side airbags (A) are contained in the driver and front passenger seatbacks.The side airbag is designed to inflate only on the side of the vehicle that is impacted, even with no passenger in the front seat. A label is attached to the seatbacks in vehi- cles with side airbags.
 Do not attach additional keys or accesso- ries (hard, pointed or heavy objects) to the ignition key. Such objects could prevent the driver’s knee airbag from inflating normally or could be propelled to causeserious injury if the airbag inflates.  Do not attach accessories to the lower por- tion of the driver’s side instrument panel.  Do not place objects, such as packages or pets, between the airbags and the driver or the front passenger. Do not touch them. You could be burned.  The airbag system is designed to work only once. After the airbags deploy, they will not work again. Good vehicle performance cannot be expected if there is a difference in wear between tires. Refer to “Tire rotation” on page 9-19.  Check the tire inflation pressure regularly.

Overuse of the brake can cause poor brake response and premature wear of the brake pads and linings.When driving down a long or steep hill, use engine braking by downshifting.
CAUTION Always use tires of the same size, same type, and same brand, and which have no wear dif-ferences. Using tires that differ in size, type, brands or the degree of wear, will increase the differential oil temperature, resulting inpossible damage to the driving system. Fur- ther, the drive train will be subjected to excessive loading, possibly leading to oilleakage, component seizure, or other serious problems.

CAUTION Do not tow all-wheel drive vehicles with the front or rear wheels on the ground (Type Aor Type B) as illustrated. This could result in damage to the drivetrain, or unstable towing. system warning light normally illuminates and goes off a few seconds later. If one or more of the vehicle tires (except for the spare tire) is significantly under-inflated, the warning light will remain illuminatedwhile the ignition switch is in the “ON” posi- tion. Refer to “If the warning light/display illumi-nates while driving” on page 5-86 and take the necessary measures.
Each tire, including the spare (if provided), should be checked monthly when cold andinflated to the inflation pressure recom- mended by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label.(If your vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you shoulddetermine the proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.) As an added safety feature, your vehicle hasbeen equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure telltale when one or more of yourtires is significantly under-inflated.
NOTE
 In addition, the warning display is displayed on the information screen in the multi-infor- mation display. Type 1 Type 2
CAUTION If the tire pressure monitoring system warn- ing light does not illuminate when the igni- tion switch is turned to the “ON” position, it means that the tire pressure monitoring sys- tem is not working properly. Have the sys-tem inspected by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. In such situations,
a malfunctioning of the
system may be preventing the monitoring of the tire pressure. Avoid sudden braking, sharp turning and high-speed driving. If a malfunction is detected in the tire pres- sure monitoring system, the tire pressuremonitoring system warning light will blink for approximately 1 minute and then remain continuously illuminated. The warning lightwill issue further warnings each time the engine is restarted as long as the malfunction exists.Check to see whether the warning light goes off after few minutes driving. If it then goes off duri
ng driving, there is no
problem. However, if the warning light does not go off, or if it blinks again when the engine isrestarted, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. In such situations,

Accordingly, when the low tire pressure tell- tale illuminates, you should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper pressure. Driving on a sig-nificantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Under-inflation also reduces fuel efficiencyand tire tread life, and may affect the vehi- cle’s handling and stopping ability. Please note that the TPMS is not a substitute forproper tire maintenance, and it is the driver’sresponsibility to maintain correct tire pres- sure, even if under-inflation has not reached the level to trigger illumination of the TPMSlow tire pressure telltale. Your vehicle has also been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate whenthe system is not operating properly. The TPMS malfunction indicator is combined with the low tire pressure telltale.When the system detects a malfunction, the telltale will flash for approximately one min- ute and then remain continuously illuminated.This sequence will continue upon subsequent vehicle start-ups as long as the malfunction exists.When the malfunction indicator is illumi- nated, the system may not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended.TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons, including the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the
vehicle that prevent the TPMS from function- ing properly. Always check the TPMS mal- function telltale after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle to ensure thatthe replacement or alternate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to continue to function prop- erly.

 After inspecting or adjusting the tire pres- sure, always reinstall the valve cap on the valve stem. Without the valve cap, dirt or moisture could get into the valve, resulting in damage to thetire inflation pressure sensor.  Do not use metal valve caps, which may cause a metal reaction, resulting in corrosion and damage of the tire inflation pressure sen- sors.  Once adjustments have been made, the warn- ing light will go off after a few minutes ofdriving.WA R N I N G If the warning light/display illuminates while you are driving, avoid hard braking, sharp steering maneuvers and highspeeds. Driving with an under-inflated tire adversely affects vehicle performance and can result in an accident.NOTE
