require you to pay ausage fee (toll).
RNumber of Occupants in the Vehicle:(only available in the USA)
Prerequisite: your vehicle meets the access
conditions for carpool lanes.
Carpool lanes will be included if the carpool
lanes option is activated.

If available, the ZIP code is shown. If there are
different ZIP codes available for the location,
the corresponding digits are displayed with an

If route guidance has already been activated,

XSelect YesorSet as Intermediate Des‐tination.
Yescancels the current route guidance and
starts route calculation to the new destina-
tion.
Set as Intermediate Destination
adds
the new destination in addition to the existing
destination and opens the intermediate des-

For telephony via the Bluetooth®interface, you

System self-test
After you have switched on the ignition, the sys- tem carries out aself-diagnosis.
Am alfunction in the system has been detected
if one of the following occurs:
RThe indicator lamp in the SOS button does not
come on during the system self-test.
RThe indicator lamp in the FRoadside
Assistance button does not light up during
self-diagnosis of the system.
RThe indicator lamp in the ïMB Info call
button does not light up during self-diagnosis
of the system.
RThe indicator lamp in one or more of the fol-
lowing button scontinues to light up red after
the system self-diagnosis:
-SOS button
-F Roadside Assistance call button
-ïMB Info call button
RAfter the system self-diagnosis, the Inoper‐ativeorServiceNotActivatedmessage
appears in the multifunction display.
If am alfunction is indicated as outlined above,
the system may not operate as expected. In the
event of an emergency, help will have to be
summoned by other means.

Emergency call
Important safety notes
GWARNING
It can be dangerous to remain in the vehicle,
even if you have pressed the SOS button in an emergencyi f:
Ryou see smoke inside or outside of the vehi-
cle, e.g. if there is afire after an accident
Rthe vehicle is on adangerous section of
road
Rthe vehicle is not visible or cannot easily be seen by other road users, particularly when
dark or in poor visibility conditions
There is arisk of an accident and injury.
Leave the vehicle immediately in this or simi-
lar situations as soon as it is safe to do so.
Move to asafe location along with other vehi-
cle occupants. In such situations, secure the
vehicle in accordanc ewith national regula-
tions, e. g. with awarning triangle.
You must have alicense agreement to activate
the mbrace service. Make sure that your system
is activated and operational. To register, press
the ï MB Info call button .Ifany of the steps

General notes
An emergency call is dialed automatically if an
air bag or Emergency Tensioning Device is trig-
gered.
iYou cannot end an automatically triggered
emergency call yourself.
An emergency call can als obeinitiated man-
ually.
As soon as the emergency call has been initi-
ated, the indicator lamp in the SOS button
flashes. The multifunction display shows the
ConnectingC all
message.
The audio outpu tismuted.
Once the connection has been made ,the Call
Connectedmessage appears in the multifunc-
tion display.
All important informatio nonthe emergency is
transmitted, for example:
Rcurrent location of the vehicle( as determined
by the GPS system)
Rvehiclei dentification number
Rinformatio nonthe severity of the accident
Shortly after the emergency call has been initi-
ated, avoice connection is automatically estab-
lished betwee nthe Customer Assistance Center
and the vehicleo ccupants.
RIf the vehicleoccupants respond, the
Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center
attempts to get more informatio nonthe
emergency.
RIf there is no response from the vehicleo ccu-
pants, an ambulance is immediately sent to
the vehicle.
If no voice connection can be established to the
Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center,
the system has been unable to initiate an emer-
gency call.
This can occur, for example, if the relevant
mobilep hone network is not available. The indi- cator lamp in the SOS button flashes continu-
ously.
The
Call Failed
message appears in the mul-
tifunction display and must be confirmed.
In this case, summon assistance by other
means.

nician or makes arrangements for your vehicle
to be transported to the nearest authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center.
You may be charged for services such as repair

Call priority
When service calls are active, e.g. Roadside
Assistance or MB Info calls, an emergency call
can still be initiated. In this case, an emergency
call will take priority and override all other active
calls.
The indicator lamp of the respective button
flashes until the call is ended.
An emergency call can only be terminated by the
Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center.
All other calls can be ended by pressing:
Rthe ~ button on the multifunction steering
wheel
Rthe corresponding button on the audios ys-
tem or on COMAND for ending atelephone
call
iWhen acall is initiated, the audios ystem is
muted. The mobile phone is no longer con-
nected to COMAND. However, if you want to
use your mobile phone, do so only when the
vehicle is stationary and in asafe location.
Vehicle Health Check
With the Vehicle Health Check, the Customer
Assistance Center can provide improved sup-
port for problems with your vehicle. During an
existing call, vehicle data is transferred to the
Customer Assistance Center. The customer ser-
vice representative can use the received data to decide what kind of assistance is required.Y
ou
are then, for example, guidedtot he nearest
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center or arecovery
vehicle is called.
If vehicle data needs to be transferred during an
MB Info call or aRoadside Assistance call, this is
initiated by the Customer Assistance Center.
You will see the Roadside Assistance Con‐
nectedmessage in the COMAND display. If the
vehicle remote malfunction diagnosis can be
started, the Request for vehicle diagno‐
sisreceived.Startvehiclediagnosis?message appears in the display.
XConfirm the message with Yes.
XWhen theVehicle Diagnosis Pleasestart ignitionmessage appears, turn the
SmartKey to position 2in the ignition lock
(
Ypage 115).
XWhen the Please follow the instruc‐tions received by phone and moveyour vehicle to asafe positionmes-
sage appears, follow the customer service
representative's instructions.
The message in the displayd isappears.
If you select Cancel
the remote malfunction
diagnosis is canceled completely.
The vehicle operating state check begins. You
will see the Vehicle
diagnosisactivatedmessage.
When the diagnosis is completed, the Trans‐
fer vehicle diagnostics data (Voiceconnection may be interrupted duringdatatransfer)message appears. The vehicle
data can now be sent to the Customer Assis-
tance center.
XPress OKto confirm the message.
The voice connection with the Customer
Assistance Center is terminated.
You will see the Vehicle diagnosis:

The vehicle data is sent to the Customer
Assistance Center.
Depending on what the customer service rep-
resentative agreed with you, the voice connec-
tion is re-established after the transfer is com-
plete. If necessary, you will be contacted at a
later time by another means, e.g. by e-mail or
phone.
Another function of the Vehicle Health Check is
the transfer of service data to the Customer
Assistance Center. If aservice is overdue, the
