RACETIMER
Displaying and starting RACETIMER

The RACETIMER is only intended for use on a
closed race circuit. Do not use the function on
public roads.
You can start the RACETIMER when the engine is
running or the ignition is switched on.
XUse ò on the steering wheel to call up the
list of menus.
XPress the :or9 button on the steering
wheel to select the AMGmenu.
XConfirm by pressing aon the steering
wheel.
XPress :or9 repeatedly until the
RACETIMER appears.
XTo start: press the abutton to start the
RACETIMER.
Starting a new lap

XPress the :or9 button to select NewLap.
XPressato confirm.
A maximum of 32 laps may be stored.
Stopping the RACETIMER
XPress :or9 to select Stop.

Introduction
General notes
Display messages appear in the multifunction display.
Display messages with graphic displays may be shown in simplified form in the Operator's Manual
and may therefore differ from the multifunction display.
Please respond in accordance with the display messages and follow the additional notes in this
Operator's Manual.
With certain display messages, you will also hear a warning tone.
You can hide the display messages. The display messages are then stored in the message memory.
Rectify the cause of a display message as soon as possible.

When you stop and park the vehicle, please observe the notes on:
RHOLD function (Ypage 166)
RParking (Ypage 149)
Hiding display messages
XPress theaor% button on the steering wheel.
The multifunction display hides the display message.
High-priority display messages are shown in red in the multifunction display. Some high-priority
display messages cannot be hidden.
The multifunction display shows these messages continuously until the causes for the messages
have been remedied.
Message memory
The on-board computer saves certain display messages in the message memory. You can call up
the display messages:
XPress the òbutton on the steering wheel to open the menu list.
XPress :or9 on the steering wheel to select the Servicemenu.
XConfirm by pressingaon the steering wheel.
XPress the :or9 button to select the message memory.
If there are no display messages, the No Messagesdisplay appears in the multifunction display.
When there are display messages, the number of stored messages appears.
XPress ato confirm.
XPress the :or9 button to scroll through the display messages.

ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESP®(Electronic Stability Pro-
gram) are temporarily not available.
Other driving systems and driving safety systems may also malfunc-
tion.
In addition, the ÷and! warning lamps light up in the instru-
ment cluster.
For example, the on-board voltage may be insufficient.
GWARNING
The brake system continues to function normally, but without the
functions listed above. The wheels could therefore lock if you brake
hard, for example.
The steerability and braking characteristics may be severely affected.
The braking distance in an emergency braking situation can increase.
If ESP
®is not operational, ESP®is unable to stabilize the vehicle.
There is an increased risk of skidding and an accident.
XDrive on carefully.
Carefully drive a suitable distance, making slight steering move-
ments at a speed above 12 mph (20 km/h).
If the display message disappears, the functions mentioned above are available again.
If the multifunction display still shows the display message:
XDrive on carefully.
XVisit a qualified specialist workshop immediately.

CheckTirePressureSoonCanada only:
The tire pressure loss warning system has detected a significant loss
in pressure.
A warning tone also sounds.
Possible causes:
Ryou have changed the positions of the wheels and tires or installed
new wheels and tires
Rthe tire pressure in one or more tires has dropped significantly
GWARNING
Tire pressures that are too low pose the following hazards:
Rthey may burst, especially as the load and vehicle speed increase.
Rthey may wear excessively and/or unevenly, which may greatly
impair tire traction.
Rthe driving characteristics, as well as steering and braking, may be
greatly impaired.
There is a risk of an accident.
XStop the vehicle without making any sudden steering or braking
maneuvers. Pay attention to the traffic conditions as you do so.
XSecure the vehicle against rolling away (Ypage 149).
XCheck the tires and, if necessary, follow the instructions for a flat
tire (Ypage 315).
XCheck the tire pressures and, if necessary, correct the tire pressure.
XRestart the tire pressure loss warning system when the tire pres-
sure is correct (Ypage 337).
