The tire pressure loss warning system has detected a significant loss
in pressure.
A warning tone also sounds.
Possible causes:
Ryou have changed the positions of the wheels and tires or installed
new wheels and tires
Rthe tire pressure in one or more tires has dropped
GWARNING
Tire pressures that are too low pose the following hazards:
Rthey may burst, especially as the load and vehicle speed increase
Rthey may wear excessively and/or unevenly, which may greatly
impair tire traction.
Rthe driving characteristics, as well as steering and braking, may be
greatly impaired
There is a risk of an accident.
XStop the vehicle without making any sudden steering or braking
maneuvers. Pay attention to the traffic conditions as you do so.
XSecure the vehicle against rolling away (Ypage 140).
XCheck the tires and, if necessary, follow the instructions for a flat
tire (Ypage 266).
XCheck the tire pressures and, if necessary, correct the tire pressure.
XRestart the tire pressure loss warning system when the tire pres-
sure is correct (Ypage 289).

Warning and indicator lamps in the instrument cluster
General notes
Some systems carry out a self-diagnosis when the ignition is switched on. Therefore, some indicatorand warning lamps may light up or flash temporarily. This behavior is non-critical.
These indicator and warning lamps only indicate a malfunction if they light up or flash after starting
the engine or whilst driving.

The seat belt warning lamp reminds the driver and front passenger to fasten their
seat belts.

warning tone sounds for up to 6 seconds.
The driver's seat belt is not fastened.
XFasten your seat belt (Ypage 43).
The warning tone ceases.
üN The red seat belt warning lamp lights up after the engine starts, as soon as the
driver's or the front-passenger door is closed.
The driver or front passenger has not fastened their seat belt.

XRemove the objects from the front-passenger seat and stow them in a secure
place.

There is not enough brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir.

The braking effect may be impaired.
There is a risk of an accident.

Cruise control or Distance Pilot DISTRONIC is deactivated.
XWhen pulling away, only depress the accelerator pedal as far as necessary.
XEase off the accelerator pedal while the vehicle is in motion.
XAdapt your driving style to suit the road and weather conditions.
XDo not deactivate ESP®.
In rare cases (
Ypage 65) , it may be best to deactivate ESP®.
Observe the important safety notes on ESP®(Ypage 63).
åN The yellow ESP®OFF warning lamp is lit while the engine is running.
ESP®is deactivated. ESP®will not stabilize the vehicle if it starts to skid or if a
wheel starts to spin.
GWARNING
If ESP
®is switched off, ESP®is unable to stabilize the vehicle.
Further driving systems or driving safety systems are thus restricted.
There is an increased risk of skidding and an accident.
XReactivate ESP®.
In rare cases (
Ypage 65) , it may be best to deactivate ESP®.
Observe the important safety notes on ESP®(Ypage 63).
XAdapt your driving style to suit the road and weather conditions.
If ESP
®cannot be activated:

The yellow SPORT handling mode warning lamp is lit while the engine is running.

GWARNING
When SPORT handling mode is switched on, ESP
®is unable to stabilize the vehicle.
There is an increased risk of skidding and an accident.
XOnly switch to SPORT handling mode in accordance with the conditions descri-
bed in the "Activating/deactivating ESP®" section (Ypage 65).

XDrive on carefully.
XContact a qualified specialist workshop and have the restraint system checked.

iIn some states, you must immediately visit a qualified specialist workshop as
soon as the yellow Check Engine warning lamp lights up. This is due to the legal
requirements in effect in these states. If in doubt, check whether such legal
regulations apply in the state in which you are currently driving.
æN The yellow reserve fuel warning lamp lights up while the engine is running.
The fuel level has dropped into the reserve range.
XRefuel at the nearest gas station.
