RPay attention to the PARKTRONIC
(Ypage 176) warning messages during the
parking procedure.
RYou can intervene in the steerin gprocedure
to correctitata ny time. Active Parking Assist
will then be canceled.
RWhen transportin gaload which protrudes
from your vehicle, you should not use Active
Parking Assist.
RNever use Active Parking Assist when snow
chains are installed.
RMake sure that the tire pressures are always
correct. This has adirect influenc eonthe
parking characteristics of the vehicle.
Use Active Parking Assist for parking spaces:
Rparallel or at right angles to the direction of
travel
Rthat are on straight roads, not bends
Rthat are on the same level as the road, e.g. not on the pavement
Detecting parking spaces
Objectsl ocated above the height range of Active
Parking Assist will not be detected when the
parking space is measured. These are not taken
into account when the parking procedure is cal-
culated, e.g. overhangin gloads, tail sections or
loading ramps of goods vehicles.
GWARNING
If there are object sabove the detection range:
RActive Park Assist may steer too early
Rthe vehicle may not stop in frontoft hese
objects
You may cause acollision as aresult. There is
ar isk of an accident.
If object sare located above the detection
range, stop and deactivate Active Parking
Assist.
For further information on the detection range

ing in spaces at right angles to the direction of
travel if:
Rtwo parking spaces are located directly next
to one another
Rthe parking space is directly next to
alow
obstacle such as alow curb
Ryou park forwards
Active Parking Assist does not assist you park-
ing in spaces that are parallel or at right angles
to the direction of travel if:
Rthe parking space is on acurb
Rthe system reads the parking space as being
blocked, for example by foliage or grass pav-
ing blocks
Rthe area is too small for the vehicle to maneu-
ver into
Rthe parking space is bordered by an obstacle,
e.g. atree, apost or atrailer

;Parking symbol
=Detected parking space on the right
Active Parking Assist is switched on automati-
cally when driving forwards. The system is
operational at speeds of up to approximately
22 mph (35 km/ h).W hile in operation, the sys-
tem independentl yloc ate sand measures park-
ing spaces on both sides of the vehicle.
Active Parking Assist will only detect parking
spaces:
Rparalle loratr ight angle stothe direction of

Snow chains
GWARNING
If snow chains are installed to the front
wheels, they may drag against the vehicle
body or chassis components. This could
cause damage to the vehicle or the tires.
There is arisk of an accident.
To avoid hazardous situations:
Rnever install snow chains to the front
wheels
Ralways install snow chains in pairs to the
rear wheels.
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recom-
mends that you only use snow chains that have
been specially approved for your vehicle by
Mercedes-Benz, or are of acorresponding
standard of quality. For more information,
please contact aqualified specialist workshop.
If you inten dtomount snow chains, please bear
the following points in mind:
RSnow chains may not be mounted on all
wheel/tire combinations .Permissible wheel-
tire combination s(
Ypage 340).
ROnly use snow chains when driving on roads
completely covered by snow. Remove the
snow chains as soon as possible when you
come toaroad that is not snow-covered.
RLocal regulations may restrict the use of snow
chains. Observe the appropriate regulations if
you wish to mount snow chains.
RDo not exceed the maximum permissible
speed of 31 mph (50 km/h).
ROn vehicles with AIRMATIC, you must drive at
raised vehicle level if snow chains have been
installed (
Ypage 172).
RWhen snow chains are installed, never use
Active Parking Assist (Ypage 177).
You may wish to deactivate ESP®when pulling
away with snow chains installed:
RAll vehicles (except Mercedes ‑AMG vehicles)
(Ypage 67)
RMercedes‑AM Gvehicles (Ypage 68)
You can thereby allow the wheels to spin in a
controlled manner, achieving an increased driv- ing force (cuttin gaction).

Important safety notes
GWARNING
Underinflated or overinflated tires pose the
following risks:
Rthe tires may burst, especially as the load
and vehicle speed increase.
Rthe tires may wear excessively and/or
unevenly, which may greatly impair tire
traction.
Rthe driving characteristics, as well as steer-
ing and braking, may be greatly impaired.
There is arisk of an accident.
Follow recommended tire inflation pressures
and check the pressure of all the tires includ-
ing the spare wheel:
Rmonthly, at least
Rif the load changes
Rbefore beginning along journey
Runder different operating conditions, e.g.
off-road driving
If necessary, correct the tire pressure.
The data on the Tire and Loading Information
placard and tire pressure table shown here are
examples. Tire pressure specifications are vehi-
cle-specific and may deviate from the data
shown here. The tire pressure specifications
that are valid for your vehicle can be found on
the Tire and Loading Information placard and
tire pressure table on the vehicle.
General notes
The recommended tire pressures for the tires
mounted at the factory can be found on the
labels described here.

sure loss warning system.
The tire pressure monitor is not able to warn you
ofas udden loss of pressure, e.g. if the tire is
penetrated by aforeign object. In the event of a
sudden loss of pressure, bring the vehicle to a
halt by braking carefully .Avoid abrupt steering
movements.
The function of the tire pressure loss warning
system is limited or delayed if:
Rsnow chains are mounted on your vehicle's
tires.
Rroad conditions are wintry.
Ryou are driving on sand or gravel.
Ryou adopt avery sporty driving style (corner-
ing at high speeds or driving with high rates of acceleration).
Ryou are driving with aheavy load (in the vehi-
cle or on the roof).

Restarting the tire pressure loss warn-
ing system
Restart the tire pressure loss warning system if you have:
Rchanged the tire pressure
Rchanged the wheels or tires
Rmounted new wheels or tires
XBefore restarting, make sure that the tire
pressures are set properly on all four tires for
the respective operating conditions.
The recommended tire pressure can be found
on the Tire and Loading Information placard
on the B-pillar. Additionally, atire pressure
table is attached to the fuel filler flap. The tire
pressure loss warning system can only give
reliable warnings if you have set the correct
tire pressure. If an incorrect tire pressure is
set, these incorrect values will be monitored.
XAlso observe the notes in the section on tire
pressures (Ypage 319).
XMake sure that the SmartKey is in position 2
in the ignition lock (Ypage 131).
XPress òon the steering wheel to call up
the menu list.
XPress 9or: on the steering wheel to
select the Servicemenu.
XConfirm by pressing aon the steering
wheel.
XPress 9or: to select Tire Pres‐sure.
XPressato confirm.
The Run Flat Indicator ActivePress'OK' to Restartmessage is shown in the
multifunction display.
If you wish to confirm the restart:
XPress the abutton.
The Tire Pressure Now OK?message is
shown in the multifunction display.
XSelect Yeswith9 or:.
XPress ato confirm.

sage is shown in the multifunction display.
After ateach-in period, the tire pressure loss
warning system will monitor the set tire pres-
sures of all four tires.
If you wish to cancel the restart:
XPress the %button.
or
XIf the Tire Pressure Now OK?message
appears, press 9or: to select Can‐
cel.
XPressato confirm.
The tire pressure values stored at the last
restart will continue to be monitored.
Tire pressure monitor
General notes
If at ire pressure monitor is installed, the vehi-
cle's wheels have sensors that monitor the tire
pressures in all four tires. The tire pressure mon-
itor warns you if the pressure drops in one or
more of the tires. The tire pressure monitor only
functions if the corresponding sensors are
installed in all wheels.
Information on tire pressures is displayed in the
multifunction display. After afew minutes of
driving, the current tire pressure of each tire is
shown in the Service
menu of the multifunction
display; see illustration (example).
