■When exchanging the battery (RX200t)
Use a battery specified for use with the Stop & Start system and equivalent to a genuine battery. If an unsupported battery is used, Stop & Start system functions may be
restricted to protect the battery.
Also, battery performance may decrease and the engine may not be able to restart. Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped
professional.
WARNING
■Avoiding battery fires or explosions
Observe the following precautions to preven t accidentally igniting the flammable gas that may be emitted from the battery:
●Make sure each jumper cable is connected to the correct terminal and that it is notunintentionally in contact with any other than the intended terminal.
●Do not allow the other end of the jumper cable connected to the “+” terminal to come
into contact with any other parts or metal surfaces in the area, such as brackets or unpainted metal.
●Do not allow the + and - clamps of the jumper cables to come into contact with each
other.
●Do not smoke, use matches, cigarette lighters or allow open flame near the battery.
■Battery precautions
The battery contains poisonous and corrosive acidic electrolyte, while related parts contain lead and lead compounds. Observ e the following precautions when handling the battery:
●When working with the battery, always wear safety glasses and take care not to allowany battery fluids (acid) to come into contact with skin, clothing or the vehicle body.
●Do not lean over the battery.
●In the event that battery fluid comes into contact with the skin or eyes, immediatelywash the affected area with water and seek medical attention.Place a wet sponge or cloth over the affected area until medical attention can be
received.
●Always wash your hands after handling the battery support, terminals, and other bat- tery-related parts.
●Do not allow children near the battery.
NOTICE
■When handling jumper cables
When connecting the jumper cables, ensure that they do not become entangled in the cooling fans or engine drive belt.

7208-2. Steps to take in an emergency
RX350/RX200t_EE_OM48F32E
Start the engine and turn the air conditioning system on to check that the radi-
ator cooling fan operates and to check for coolant leaks from the radiator or
hoses.
The fans operate when the air conditioning system is turned on immediately after a
cold start. Confirm that the fans are operating by checking the fan sound and air flow. If it is difficult to check these, turn the air conditioning system on and off repeatedly. (The fan may not operate in freezing temperatures.)
If the fans are not operating:
Stop the engine immediately and contact any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
If the fans are operating:
Have the vehicle inspected at the nearest any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
Check if “Engine Coolant Temp High Stop in a Safe Place See Owner’s Man-
ual” is shown on the multi-information display.
If the message does not disappear:
Stop the engine and contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
If the message is not displayed:
Have the vehicle inspected at the nearest authorized Lexus dealer or repairer,
or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
WARNING
■To prevent an accident or injury when in specting under the hood of your vehicle
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in serious injury such as burns.
●If steam is seen coming from under the h ood, do not open the hood until the steam has subsided. The engine compartment may be very hot.
●Keep hands and clothing (especially a tie, a scarf or a muffler) away from the fans andbelts. Failure to do so may cause the hands or clothing to be caught, resulting in seri- ous injury.
●Do not loosen the radiator cap and the coolant reservoir caps while the engine andradiator are hot.High temperature steam or coolant could spray out.

WARNING
■When attempting to free a stuck vehicle
If you choose to push the vehicle back and forth to free it, make sure the surrounding area is clear to avoid striking other vehi cles, objects or people. The vehicle may also
lunge forward or lunge back suddenly as it becomes free. Use extreme caution.
■When shifting the shift lever
Be careful not to shift the shift lever with the accelerator pedal depressed.
This may lead to unexpected rapid acceleration of the vehicle that may cause an acci- dent resulting in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
■To avoid damage to the transmission and other components
●Avoid spinning the front wheels and depres sing the accelerator pedal more than nec-
essary.
●If the vehicle remains stuck even after these procedures are performed, the vehicle may require towing to be freed.
●When a warning message for the automatic transmission fluid temperature is dis-played while attempting to free a stuck ve hicle, immediately remove your foot from the accelerator pedal and wait until the warning message disappears. Otherwise, the
transmission may become damaged. ( P. 675)

■Vehicle customization
●When the speed linked door locking function and the shift position linked door locking function are both on, the door lock operates as follows.
• When shifting the shift lever to any position other than P, all the doors will be locked.
• If the vehicle is started with all the doors locked, the speed linked door locking func- tion will not operate.• If the vehicle is started with any door un locked, the speed linked door locking func-
tion will operate.
●When the smart entry & start system is o ff, smart door unlocking cannot be custom-
ized.
●When the doors remain closed after unlock ing the doors and the timer activated auto- matic door lock function activates, signals will be generated in accordance with the
operational signal (Emergency flashers) function setting.
●Some settings can be changed using a switch or the audio system screen. If a setting is changed using a switch, the changed setting will not be reflected on the audio system
screen until the engine switch is turned off and then to IGNITION ON mode.
WARNING
■Cautions during customization
As the engine needs to be running during customization, ensure that the vehicle is parked in a place with adequate ventilation. In a closed area such as a garage, exhaust
gases including harmful carbon monoxide (CO) may collect and enter the vehicle. This may lead to death or a serious health hazard.
NOTICE
■During customization
To prevent battery discharge, ensure that the engine is running while customizing fea-
tures.
