■For your safety
●Please drive safely.
The function of this system is to assist you in making the Emergency Call in case of
accidents as traffic accidents or sudden medical emergencies, and it does not pro- tect the driver or the passengers in any way. Please drive safely and fasten yourseatbelts at all times for your safety.
●In case of an emergency, make lives the top priority.
●If you smell anything burning or another unus ual smell, do not stay inside the vehicle and evacuate to a safe area immediately.
●Since the system detects shocks, the automatic reporting may not always occur syn-chronized with the operation of the airbag system. (If the vehicle is bumped from behind, etc.)
●The airbag may not inflate even in case of an accident, if it does not involve highimpact. In such cases, the system may not make emergency calls automatically. Thesystem may also not make automatic emer gency calls even if the airbag has been
inflated. If any of these should occur, plea se report to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) by operating the “SOS” button.
●For safety, do not make the Emergency Call while driving.
Making calls during driving may cause mi shandling of the steering wheel, which may lead to unexpected accidents.
Stop the vehicle and confirm the safety of the area before making the Emergency
Call.
●When changing fuses, please use fuses that correspond to the described standard. If you use fuses other than those described, it may cause ignition or smoke in the circuit
and may lead to a fire.
●Using the system while there is smoke or an unusual smell may cause a fire. Stop using the system immediately and consult any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified an d equipped professional.

●Working from top to bottom, liberally apply water to the vehicle body, wheel
wells and underside of the vehicle to remove any dirt and dust.
●Wash the vehicle body using a sponge or soft cloth, such as a chamois.
●For hard-to-remove marks, use car wash soap and rinse thoroughly with
water.
●Wipe away any water.
●Wax the vehicle when the waterproof coating deteriorates.
If water does not bead on a clean surface, apply wax when the vehicle body is cool.
■Self-restoring coat
The vehicle body has a self-restoring coating that is resistant to small surface scratches caused in a car wash, etc.
●The coating lasts for 5 to 8 years from when the vehicle is delivered from the plant.
●The restoration time differs depending on the depth of the scratch and outside tem-perature. The restoration time may become shorter when the coating is warmed by
applying warm water.
●Deep scratches caused by keys, co ins, etc., cannot be restored.
●Do not use wax that contain abrasives.
■Automatic car washes
●Before washing the vehicle:
• Fold the mirrors
• Turn off the power back door (if equipped) Start washing from the front of the vehicle. Extend the mirrors before driving.
●Brushes used in automatic car washes may scratch the vehicle surface and harm your
vehicle’s paint.
●Rear spoiler may not be washable in some automatic car washes. There may also be an increased risk of damage to vehicle.
■High pressure car washes
●Do not allow the nozzles of the car wash to come within close proximity of the windows.
●Before using the car wash, check that the fuel filler door on your vehicle is closed prop- erly.

■Note for a smart entry & start system
●If the door handle becomes wet while the electronic key is within the effective range, the door may lock and unlock repeatedly. Place the key in a position 2 m (6 ft.) or more
separate from the vehicle while the vehicle is being washed. (Take care to ensure that the key is not stolen.)
●If the electronic key is inside the vehicle and a door handle becomes wet during a car
wash, a buzzer will sound outside the vehicle. To turn off the alarm, lock all the doors.
●Set the electronic key to battery-saving mode to disable the smart entry & start system. ( P. 169)
■Aluminum wheels
●Remove any dirt immediately by using a neutral detergent. Do not use hard brushes or abrasive cleaners. Do not use strong or harsh chemical cleaners.
Use the same mild detergent as used on the paint.
●Do not use detergent on the wheels when th ey are hot, for example after driving for long distance in the hot weather.
●Wash detergent from the wheels immediately after use.
■Bumpers
Do not scrub with abrasive cleaners.
■Front side windows water-repellent coating
●The following precautions can extend the effectiveness of the water-repellent coating.
• Remove any dirt, etc., from the front side windows regularly.
• Do not allow dirt and dust to accumulate on the windows for a long period. Clean the windows with a soft, damp cloth as soon as possible.• Do not use wax or glass cleaners that co ntain abrasives when cleaning the windows.
• Do not use any metallic objects to remove condensation build up.
●When the water-repellent performance has become insufficient, the coating can be repaired. Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

NOTICE
■To prevent paint deterioration and corrosion on the body and components (aluminum wheels, etc.)
●Wash the vehicle immediately in the following cases:
• After driving near the sea coast • After driving on salted roads• If coal tar or tree sap is present on the paint surface
• If dead insects, insect droppings or bird droppings are present on the paint surface • After driving in an area contaminated wi th soot, oily smoke, mine dust, iron pow- der or chemical substances
• If the vehicle becomes heavily soiled with dust or mud • If liquids such as benzene and gaso line are spilled on the paint surface
●If the paint is chipped or scratched, have it repaired immediately.
●To prevent the wheels from corroding, remove any dirt and store in a place with low humidity when storing the wheels.
■Cleaning the exterior lights
●Wash carefully. Do not use organic subs tances or scrub with a hard brush. This may damage the surfaces of the lights.
●Do not apply wax to the surfaces of the lights.Wax may cause damage to the lenses.
■When using an automatic car wash (vehicle s with rain-sensing windshield wipers)
Set the wiper switch to the off position. If the wiper switch is in “AUTO”, the wipers may operate and the wiper blades may bedamaged.

◆Installing tire pressure warning valves and transmitters
When replacing tires or wheels, tire pressure warning valves and transmitters
must also be installed.
When new tire pressure warning valves and transmitters are installed, new ID
codes must be registered in the tire pressure warning computer and the tire
pressure warning system must be initialized. Have tire pressure warning valve
and transmitter ID codes registered by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional. ( P. 617)
◆Initializing the tire pressure warning system
■The tire pressure warning system must be initialized in the following circum-
stances:
●When the tire inflation pressure is changed such as when changing
traveling speed.
●When the tire inflation pressure is changed such as when the tire size is
changed.
●When rotating the tires
When the tire pressure warning system is initialized, the current tire inflation
pressure is set as the benchmark pressure.

◆Registering ID codes
The tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is equipped with a unique ID
code. When replacing a tire pressure wa rning valve and transmitter, it is nec-
essary to register the ID code. Have the ID code registered by any authorized
Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
■When to replace your vehicle’s tires
Tires should be replaced if:
●The treadwear indicators are showing on a tire.
●You have tire damage such as cuts, splits, cracks deep enough to expose the fabric, and
bulges indicating internal damage.
●A tire goes flat repeatedly or cannot be prop erly repaired due to the size or location of a cut or other damage.
If you are not sure, consult with any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
■Replacing tires and wheels
If the ID code of the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is not registered, the tire pressure warning system will not work proper ly. After driving for about 10 minutes, the tire pressure warning light blinks for 1 minu te and stays on to indicate a system malfunc-
tion.
■Tire life
Any tire over 6 years old must be checked by a qualified technician even if it has seldom
or never been used or damage is not obvious.
■Routine tire inflation pressure checks
The tire pressure warning system does not re place routine tire inflation pressure checks.
Make sure to check tire inflation pressure as part of your routine of daily vehicle checks.
■Initializing the tire pressure warning system
Initialize the system with the tire inflatio n pressure adjusted to the specified level.
■If the tread on snow tires wears down below 4 mm (0.16 in.)
The effectiveness of the tires as snow tires is lost.
■If you press the tire pressure warning reset switch accidentally
If initialization is performed, ad just the tire inflation pressure to the specified level and ini- tialize the tire pressure warning system again.

■Situations in which the tire pressure warning system may not operate properly
●In the following cases, the tire pressure warning system may not operate properly.
• If non-genuine Lexus wheels are used.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not an OE (Original Equipment) tire. • A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not of the specified size.• Tire chains, etc., are equipped.
• If a window tint that affects the radio wave signals is installed. • If there is a lot of snow or ice on the vehi cle, particularly around the wheels or wheel housings.
• If the tire inflation pressure is extr emely higher than the specified level. • If wheel without the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is used.• If the ID code on the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters is not registered
in the tire pressure warning computer.
●Performance may be affected in the following situations.
• Near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas station, radio station, large display, air- port or other facility that generates st rong radio waves or electrical noise. • When carrying a portable radio, cellular phone, cordless phone or other wireless
communication device. If tire position information is not correctly displayed due to the radio wave conditions, the display may be corrected by driving and changing the radio wave conditions.
●When the vehicle is parked, the time taken for the warning to start or go off could beextended.
●When tire inflation pressure declines rapi dly for example when a tire has burst, the
warning may not function.
■The initialization operation
●Make sure to carry out initialization af ter adjusting the tire inflation pressure.
Also, make sure the tires are cold before carry ing out initialization or tire inflation pres- sure adjustment.
●If you have accidentally turned the engine swit ch off during initialization, it is not neces- sary to restart the initialization again as in itialization will restart automatically when the engine switch has been turned to IGNITION ON mode for the next time.
●If you accidentally restart the initialization when initialization is not necessary, adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified leve l when the tires are cold, and conduct initial- ization again.
●While the position of each tire is being de termined and the inflation pressures are not being displayed on the multi-information display, if the inflation pressure of a tire drops, the tire pressure warning light will come on.
