For safety and security
LS600h/LS600hL_EE(OM50G20E)
■Regenerative braking
In the following situations, kinetic energy is converted to electric energy and decel-
eration force can be obtained in conjunction with the recharging of the hybrid bat-
tery (traction battery).
●The accelerator pedal is released while driving with the shift position in D or S.
●The brake pedal is depressed while driving with the shift position in D or S.
■EV indicator
■Conditions in which the ga soline engine may not stop
The gasoline engine starts and stops automatically. However, it may not stop auto-
matically in the following conditions:
●During gasoline engine warm-up
●During hybrid battery (traction battery) charging
●When the temperature of the hybrid battery (traction battery) is high or low
●When the heater is switched on
■Charging the hybrid battery (traction battery)
●As the gasoline engine charges the hybrid battery (traction battery), the battery
does not need to be charged from an outside source. However, if the vehicle is left
parked for a long time the hybrid battery will slowly discharge. For this reason, be
sure to drive the vehicle at least once every few months for at least 30 minutes or
16 km (10 miles). If the hybrid battery becomes fully discharged and you are unable
to jump-start the vehicle with the 12-volt battery, contact any authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
●If the shift lever is in N, the hybrid ba ttery (traction battery) will not be charged.
Always put the shift lever in P when the vehicle is stopped. When driving in heavy
traffic, operate the vehicle with the shift lever in D or S to avoid discharging the bat-
tery.
●To help prevent the 12-volt battery from becoming discharged, drive the vehicle at
least once a month, and operate the accessories only when the “READY” indicator
is on. When parking the vehicle, make sure the doors and trunk are closed and all
lights are turned off.
The EV indicator comes on when the vehicle
is driven using only the electric motor (trac-
tion motor) or the gasoline engine is stopped.

NOTICE
■Camera sensor (P. 324)
Observe the following to ensure that the LKA system functions correctly.
●Keep the windshield clean at all times.
Performance could be affected if the windshield is dirty, or if raindrops, conden-
sation or ice are adhering to the windshield.
●Do not attach window tinting to the windshield.
●Do not install an antenna in front of the camera lens.
●If the windshield is fogged up, use the windshield defogger to remove fog from
the windshield.
When it is cold, using the heater with air blowing to the feet may allow the upper
part of the windshield to fog up. This will have a negative effect on the images.
●Do not place anything on the dashboard.
The camera sensor may recognize the image reflected on the windshield as lane
markers by mistake.
●Do not scratch the camera lens, or let it get dirty.
When cleaning the inside of the windshield, be careful not to get any glass
cleaner etc. on the lens. Also, do not touch the lens.
For lens repair, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional.
●Do not change the installation position or direction of the camera sensor or
remove it. The direction of the camera sensor is precisely adjusted.
●Do not subject the camera sensor to strong impact or force, and do not disas-
semble the camera sensor.
●Do not attach a sticker or other items to the
windshield near the camera sensor.
●Do not install or place anything near the
camera.

CAUTION
■Handling the camera sensors (if equipped)
Observe the following to ensure that the PCS functions effectively:
●Keep the windshield clean at all times.
PCS effectiveness may be reduced due to the presence of raindrops, condensa-
tion, ice or snow on the windshield.
●Do not subject the camera sensor to a st rong impact or force, and do not disas-
semble the camera sensor.
●Do not change the installation position of the camera sensor, or remove and rein-
stall it. The direction of the camera sensor is precisely adjusted.
●When the windshield fogs up, use the wi ndshield defogger to dry the windshield.
During cold weather, using the heater with air blowing to the feet may allow the
upper part of the windshield to fog up, having a negative effect on the images.
●Do not place anything on the dashboard.
Images reflected on the windshield may reduce the effectiveness of the camera
sensor.
●Do not scratch the camera lens, or let it get dirty.
●Do not attach a sticker or other items to the windshield near the camera sensor.
■Headlights (vehicles with camera sensors)
●Observe the following to ensure proper near-infrared ray projection:
• Keep the headlights clean at all times.
• The detection performance may deteriorate if the high beams are misaligned
or inoperative.
●The near-infrared ray transmitters project strong energy that is not visible.
Although the transmitters normally turn off when the vehicle is stopped, never
look into the headlights for your safety.

Driving
LS600h/LS600hL_EE(OM50G20E)
■Air conditioning
Use the air conditioning only when necessary. Doing so can help con-
trol excessive gasoline consumption.
In summer: In high temperatures, use the recirculated air mode. Doing
so will help to reduce the burden on the air conditioner and reduce fuel
consumption as well.
In winter: Because the gasoline engine will not automatically cut out
until the gasoline engine and the interior of the vehicle are warm, it will
consume fuel. Also, fuel consumption can be improved by avoiding
overuse of the heater.
■Checking tire inflation pressure
Make sure to check the tire inflation pressure frequently. Improper tire
inflation pressure can cause poor fuel consumption.
Also, as snow tires can cause large amounts of friction, their use on dry
roads can lead to poor fuel consumption. Use a tire that is appropriate
for the season.
■Luggage
Carrying heavy luggage can lead to poor fuel consumption. Avoid car-
rying unnecessary luggage. Installing a large roof rack can also cause
poor fuel consumption.
■Warming up before driving
Since the gasoline engine starts up and cuts out automatically when
cold, warming up the engine is unnecessary. Moreover, frequently driv-
ing short distances will cause the engi ne to repeatedly warm up, which
can lead to poor fuel consumption.
