Remove the plug.
Insert the tool and press it down
firmly while turning it
counterclockwise until it stops.
Vehicles without a spare tire
Take out the parking brake release tool and the screwdriver from the
trunk. ( P. 581)
Check that the flathead end of
the screwdriver is exposed.
If the Phillips end is exposed, reinsert
the screwdriver shaft so the flathead
end is exposed.

When trouble arises

Use the mechanical key built in to the electronic keys to operate the
doors. ( P. 141)
Vehicles with an alarm: An alarm will sound if the alarm is set when the trunk or
doors are unlocked. ( P. 103)
■Doors
Remove the cover on the
driver’s door handle.
If the electronic key does not operate properly
If communication between the electronic key and vehicle is inter-
rupted ( P. 159) or the electronic key cannot be used because the
battery is depleted, the smart entry & start system and wireless remote
control cannot be used. In such cases, the doors and trunk can be
opened and the hybrid system can be started by following the proce-
dure below.

Closes the windows and
moon roof* (turn and hold)
Unlocks all the doors

After the operation is com-
pleted, reinstall the cover.
Hook the upper claw of the
cover onto the upper catch on
the vehicle side, and then push
on the lower side of the cover.
Make sure that the lower claw of
the cover is securely fastened to
the lower catch on the vehicle side.
If the cover is not securely
attached, it may fall off while driv-
ing.

If you have a set of jumper (or booster) cables and a second vehicle with a
12-volt battery, you can jump start your vehicle by following the steps
below.
Confirm that the electronic key is
being carried.
When connecting the jumper (or
booster) cables, depending on the sit-
uation, the alarm may activate and
doors locked. (P. 105)
Open the trunk lid and remove the 12-volt battery cover. ( P. 502)
In the event that the trunk opener cannot be used, use the mechanical key to open
the trunk. ( P. 603)
If the 12-volt battery is discharged
The following procedures may be used to start the hybrid system if the
12-volt battery is discharged.
You can also call any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional.

●Is the child-protector lock set?
The rear door cannot be opened from inside the vehicle when
the lock is set. Open the rear door from outside and then
unlock the child-protector lock. ( P. 177)
●The function to prevent the electronic key from being left inside
the trunk will operate and you can open the trunk as usual. Take
the key out from the trunk. ( P. 151)

●Did anyone inside the vehicle open a door or anything move
inside the vehicle* during setting the alarm?
The sensor detects them and the alarm sounds. ( P. 103)

Do one of the following to stop the alarm:
• Unlock the doors or open the trunk using the entry function or wireless
remote control.
• Start the hybrid system.
