Maintenance and care

Turn the power switch off.
Open the glove box. Lift up the side
with the stay, disconnect the stay
tabs and remove the partition by
pulling horizontally.
Press the tabs and remove the filter
cover.
Press the tabs and remove the filter
case.
Air conditioning filter
The air conditioning filter must be ch anged regularly to maintain air condi-
tioning efficiency.

Remove the air conditioning filter
from the filter case and replace it
with a new one.
The “ UP” marks shown on the filter
and the filter case sh ould be pointing up.
■Checking interval
Inspect and replace the air conditioning filt er according to the maintenance schedule. In dusty areas or areas with heavy traffic flow, early replacement may be required. (For
scheduled maintenance informat ion, please refer to the “Lexus Service Booklet” or
“Lexus Warranty Booklet”.)
■If air flow from the ve nts decreases dramatically
The filter may be clogged. Check the filter and replace if necessary.
■Air conditioning filter with deodorizing function
When fragrances are placed in your vehicle, the deodorizing effect may become signifi-
cantly weakened in a short period.
When an air conditioning odor comes out cont inuously, replace the air conditioning filter.

■When using the air conditioning system
Make sure that a filter is always installed.
Using the air conditioning system without a filter may cause damage to the system.

PCS warning light When the warning light flashes (and a buzzer sounds):
Indicates a malfunction in the PCS (Pre-Collision System)
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
When the warning light flashes (and a buzzer does not sound): Indicates that the PCS (Pre-Collision System) is temporarily
unavailable, possibly due to either of the following:
• An area around the radar sensor or camera sensor being dirty or covered with condensa tion, ice, stickers, etc.
 Clear the dirt, condensation, ice, stickers, etc.
( P. 259, 260) • Radar sensor or camera sensor operational conditions (such as
temperature etc.) being not met
 Driving is possible in this case. The PCS (Pre-Collision System) will be enabled if the operational conditions (such as tempera-
ture etc.) are met again.
When the warning lig ht is illuminated:
Either the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) system or PCS (Pre-
Collision System) is disabled or both are disabled.  To enable the PCS, enable both the VSC system and PCS.

Slip indicator
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC (Vehicle Stab ility Control) system; • The TRC (Traction Control) system; or
• The hill-start assist control system
The light will flash when the VSC, the TRC or the ABS system is operating.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer or
Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
Open door warning light (warning buzzer)*2
Indicates that a door or the trunk is not fully closed
 Check that all the doors and the trunk are closed.
Low fuel level warning light
Indicates that remaining fuel is ap proximately 10 L (2.6 gal., 2.2 Imp. gal.) or less
 Refuel the vehicle.
Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt reminder light (warning
buzzer)*3
Warns the driver and/or front pass enger to fasten their seat belts  Fasten the seat belt.
If the front passenger’s seat is occupied, the front passenger’s
seat belt also needs to be fastened to make the warning light (warning buzzer) turn off.

■Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
When the 12-volt battery charge becomes insu fficient or the voltage temporarily drops, the electric power steering system warning light may come on and the warning buzzer
may sound.
■When the tire pressure warning light comes on
Carry out the following procedure after the tire temperature has lowered sufficiently.
●Check the tire inflation pressure an d adjust to the appropriate level.
●If the warning light does not go out even after several minutes, check that the tire infla- tion pressure is at the specifie d level and carry out initialization.
The warning light may come on again if the above operations are conducted without first
allowing the tire temperature to lower sufficiently.
■The tire pressure warning light ma y come on due to natural causes
The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes such as natural air
leaks and tire inflation pressure changes caus ed by temperature. In this case, adjusting the tire inflation pressure will turn off the warning light (after a few minutes).
■Conditions that the tire pressure warning system may not function properly

■If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1 minute
If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1 minute when the
power switch is turned to ON mode, have it checked by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■Warning buzzer
In some cases, the buzzer ma y not be heard due to being in a noisy location or audio
sound.

Indicates that a Blind Spot Monitor sensor or the sur- rounding area on the bumper is dirty or covered with ice
A buzzer also sounds.
 Clean off the dirt, snow, ice, etc. and drive the vehi- cle with the operation conditions of the BSM func-
tion ( P. 341) satisfied for approximately 10
minutes. If the warning me ssage does not disappear, the sensor may be misaligned. Have the vehicle
inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

Indicates a malfunction in:
• The cruise control system; or
• The dynamic radar cruise control system Press the “ON/OFF” button once to deactivate the
system, and then press the button again to reactivate
the system. A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus
retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

Indicates a malfunction in the LDA (Lane Departure
Alert with steering control) system
A buzzer also sounds.  Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus
retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.

The operation conditions of the camera sensor (tem- perature, etc.) are not met.
 When the operation conditions of the camera sen-
sor (temperature, etc.) are met, the following sys- tems will become available.

This message may ap pear if the vehicle is stopped on a
slope. Move the vehicle to a level surface and check to see if the message disappears.
 Check the level of engine oil, and add if necessary.
Indicates that the hybrid system has overheated This message may be disp layed when driving under
severe operating conditions. (For example, when driv-
ing up a long steep hill.) A buzzer also sounds.

Indicates a malfunction in:
• The automatic headlight leveling system; or • The Automatic High Beam system (if equipped); or
• The LED headlight system
