Interior features

■Registering air conditioning settings to electronic keys (vehicles with driving position
memory)
●Unlocking the vehicle using an electronic key and turning the power switch to ON mode will recall that ke y’s registered air conditioning settings.
●When the power switch is turned off, the current air conditioning settings will automati-
cally be registered to the electronic key that was used to unlock the vehicle.
●The system may not operate correctly if more than one electronic key is in the vicinity or
if the smart entry & start system is used to unlock a passenger door.
●The doors that can recall the air conditioning setting when unlocked using the smart entry & start system can be changed.* For details, contact any authorized Lexus
retailer or Lexus authorized re pairer, or any reliable repairer.
*: The doors that can recall the driving position memory are changed at the same time.
■Using automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically accordin g to the temperature setting and the ambi-
ent conditions.
Therefore, the fan may stop for a while until wa rm or cool air is ready to flow immediately
after is pressed or “AUTO” is selected.
■Fogging up of the windows
The windows will easily fog up when the hu midity in the vehicle is high. Turning
(“A/C”) on will dehumidify the air from the outlets and defog the windshield effectively.
●If you turn (“A/C”) off, the windows may fog up more easily.
●The windows may fog up if the recirculated air mode is used.
■Outside/recirculated air mode
●When driving on dusty roads such as tunnels or in heavy traffic, set the outside/recircu-
lated air mode button to the recirculated ai r mode. This is effective in preventing out- side air from entering the vehicle interi or. During cooling operation, setting the
recirculated air mode will also cool the vehicle interior effectively.
●Outside/recirculated air mode may automa tically switch depending on the tempera-
ture setting or the inside temperature.
■Operation of the air conditioni ng system in Eco drive mode
In Eco drive mode, the air conditioning system is controlled as follows to prioritize fuel
efficiency:
●Engine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict heating/cooling capac-
ity
●Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected
To improve air conditioning performanc e, perform the following operations:
●Adjust the fan speed
●Turn off Eco drive mode

PCS warning light When the warning light flashes (and a buzzer sounds):
Indicates a malfunction in the PCS (Pre-Collision System)
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
When the warning light flashes (and a buzzer does not sound): Indicates that the PCS (Pre-Collision System) is temporarily
unavailable, possibly due to either of the following:
• An area around the radar sensor or camera sensor being dirty or covered with condensa tion, ice, stickers, etc.
 Clear the dirt, condensation, ice, stickers, etc.
( P. 259, 260) • Radar sensor or camera sensor operational conditions (such as
temperature etc.) being not met
 Driving is possible in this case. The PCS (Pre-Collision System) will be enabled if the operational conditions (such as tempera-
ture etc.) are met again.
When the warning lig ht is illuminated:
Either the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) system or PCS (Pre-
Collision System) is disabled or both are disabled.  To enable the PCS, enable both the VSC system and PCS.

Slip indicator
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC (Vehicle Stab ility Control) system; • The TRC (Traction Control) system; or
• The hill-start assist control system
The light will flash when the VSC, the TRC or the ABS system is operating.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer or
Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
Open door warning light (warning buzzer)*2
Indicates that a door or the trunk is not fully closed
 Check that all the doors and the trunk are closed.
Low fuel level warning light
Indicates that remaining fuel is ap proximately 10 L (2.6 gal., 2.2 Imp. gal.) or less
 Refuel the vehicle.
Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt reminder light (warning
buzzer)*3
Warns the driver and/or front pass enger to fasten their seat belts  Fasten the seat belt.
If the front passenger’s seat is occupied, the front passenger’s
seat belt also needs to be fastened to make the warning light (warning buzzer) turn off.

The seat belt warning buzzer sounds to al ert the driver, front passenger and rear pas-
sengers that his or her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds for 30 seconds
after the vehicle reaches a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph). Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer w ill sound in a different tone for 90 more seconds.
■Front passenger detection sensor, seat belt reminder and warning buzzer
●If luggage is placed on the front passenger seat, the front passenger detection sensor
may cause the warning light to flash and the warning buzzer to sound even if a passen-
ger is not sitting in the seat.
●If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sens or may not detect a passenger, and the warn-
ing light may not operate properly.
■If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on while driving
The malfunction indicato r lamp will come on if the fuel tank becomes completely empty.
If the fuel tank is empty, refuel the vehi cle immediately. The malfunction indicator lamp
will go off after several trips.
If the malfunction indicator lamp does not go off, contact any authorized Lexus retailer or
Lexus authorized repairer, or any re liable repairer as soon as possible.
Rear passengers’ seat belt reminder lights (warning buzzer)*3
Warns the rear passengers to fasten their seat belts
 Fasten the seat belt.
Master warning light
A buzzer sounds and the warning light comes on and flashes to indicate that the master warning system has detected a malfunc-
tion.

Tire pressure warning light When the light comes on:
Low tire inflation pressure such as
• Natural causes ( P. 579) •Flat tire ( P. 610, 625)
 Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified level.
The light will turn off after a few minutes. In case the light does not turn off even if the tire inflat ion pressure is adjusted, have the
system checked by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer. When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute:

One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
●The electronic key may not be functioning properly. (P. 629)
●There may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle.
●There may be a malfunction in the immobilizer system. ( P. 86)
●There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system.
●The hybrid system may be malfunctioning due to an electrical problem such
as electronic key battery depletion or a blown fuse. However, depending on
the type of malfunction, an interim meas ure is available to start the hybrid sys-
tem. ( P. 627)
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
●The 12-volt battery may be discharged. ( P. 631)
●The 12-volt battery terminal connections may be loose or corroded.
( P. 522)
If the hybrid system will not start
Reasons for the hybrid system not starting vary depending on the situation.
Check the following and perfor m the appropriate procedure:
The hybrid system will not start even though the correct starting proce-
dure is being followed. ( P. 219)
The interior lights and headlights are dim, or the horn does not sound or
sounds at a low volume.

■Oil capacity (Drain and refill [Reference*])
*: The engine oil capacity is a reference quantity to be used when changing the engine
oil. Warm up the engine and turn off the hybrid system, wait more than 5 minutes, and
check the oil level on the dipstick.
■Engine oil selection
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” is used in your Lexus vehicle. Lexus recom-
mends the use of approved “Toyota Ge nuine Motor Oil”. Another motor oil of
matching quality can also be used.
Oil grade:
0W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30:
API grade SL “Energy-Conserving”, SM “Energy-Conserving” or SN
“Resource-Conserving”; or IL SAC multigrade engine oil
15W-40:
API grade SL, SM or SN multigrade engine oil
Recommended viscosity (SAE):
SAE 0W-20 is filled into your Lexus
vehicle at manufacturing, and the
best choice for good fuel economy
and good starting in cold weather.
If SAE 0W-20 oil is not available,
SAE 5W-30 oil may be used. How-
ever, it should be replaced with SAE

●Do not use leaded gasoline.
Leaded gasoline will cause the three-way catalytic converter to lose its effectiveness and the emission control system to function improperly.
●EU area: Bioethanol fuel sold under names such as “E50” or “E85” and fuel contain-
ing a large amount of ethano l should not be used. The use of these fuels will damage the vehicle’s fuel system. In case of any doubt, ask any authorized Lexus retailer or
Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
●Except EU area: Bioethanol fuel sold under names such as “E50” or “E85” and fuel containing a large amount of ethanol should not be used. Your vehicle can use gaso-
line mixed with 10% max ethanol. The use of fuel with more than 10% ethanol content
(E10) will damage the vehicle’s fuel system. You must ensure that refueling is carried out only from a source where fuel specific ation and quality can be guaranteed. In case
of any doubt, ask any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any
reliable repairer.
●Do not use the methanol blended gasoline such as M15, M85, M100. The use of gas-
oline containing methanol may ca use engine damage or failure.
