To Arm The System
Follow these steps to arm the Vehicle Secu-
rity Alarm:
1. Make sure the vehicles ignition is cycledto the “OFF” position.
• For vehicles equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry, make
sure the vehicles keyless ignition sys-
tem is OFF.
• For vehicles not equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry, make
sure the vehicle ignition system is OFF,
and the key is physically removed from
the ignition.
2. Perform one of the following methods to lock the vehicle:
• Push lock button on the interior power door lock switch with the driver and/or
passenger door open.
• Push the lock button on the exterior Passive Entry Door Handle with a valid
key fob available in the same exterior
zone.
• Push the lock button on the key fob. 3. If any doors are open, close them.To Disarm The System
The Vehicle Security Alarm can be disarmed
using any of the following methods:
• Push the unlock
button on the key
fob.
• Grasp the Passive Entry Unlock Door Handle.
• Cycle the vehicle ignition system out of the OFF position.– For vehicles equipped with Keyless
Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry, push the
keyless ignition button (requires at
least one valid key fob in the vehicle).
– For vehicles not equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry, insert a
valid key into the ignition and turn the
key to the ON position.
NOTE:
• The driver's door key cylinder and the liftgate button on the key fob cannot arm
or disarm the Vehicle Security Alarm. • The Vehicle Security Alarm remains armed
during power liftgate entry. Pushing the
liftgate button will not disarm the Vehicle
Security Alarm. If someone enters the ve-
hicle through the liftgate and opens any
door, the alarm will sound.
• When the Vehicle Security Alarm is armed, the interior power door lock switches will
not unlock the doors.
The Vehicle Security Alarm is designed to
protect your vehicle. However, you can create
conditions where the system will give you a
false alarm. If one of the previously described
arming sequences has occurred, the Vehicle
Security Alarm will arm regardless of whether
you are in the vehicle or not. If you remain in
the vehicle and open a door, the alarm will
sound. If this occurs, disarm the Vehicle
Security Alarm.
If the Vehicle Security Alarm is armed and
the battery becomes disconnected, the Ve-
hicle Security Alarm will remain armed when
the battery is reconnected; the exterior lights
will flash, and the horn will sound. If this
occurs, disarm the Vehicle Security Alarm.

Lane Change Assist
Tap the lever up or down once, without mov-
ing beyond the detent, and the turn signal
(right or left) will flash three times then
automatically turn off.
INTERIOR LIGHTS

Courtesy and dome lights are turned on when
the front doors are opened or when the dim-
mer control (rotating wheel on the right side
of the headlight switch) is rotated to its
farthest upward position. If your vehicle is
equipped with Remote Keyless Entry and the
UNLOCK button is pushed on the key fob, the
courtesy and dome lights will turn on. When a
door is open and the interior lights are on,
rotating the dimmer control all the way down,
to the OFF detent, will cause all the interior
lights to go out. This is also known as the
“Party” mode because it allows the doors to
stay open for extended periods of time with-
out discharging the vehicle’s battery.The brightness of the instrument panel light-
ing can be regulated by rotating the dimmer
control up (brighter) or down (dimmer). When
the headlights are on you can supplement the
brightness of the instrument cluster display,
radio and overhead console by rotating the
control to its farthest position up until you
hear a click. This feature is termed the “Pa-
rade” mode and is useful when headlights
are required during the day.
WIPER/WASHER
The multifunction lever is located on the left
side of the steering column.
Front Wipers
The windshield wiper/washer controls are lo-
cated on the multifunction lever on the left
side of the steering column. The front wipers
are operated by rotating a switch, located on
the end of the lever. For information on the
rear wiper/washer, refer to “Rear Wiper” in
this section.
Wiper Operation
Rotate the end of the lever to one of the first
four detent positions for intermittent set-
tings, the fifth detent for low wiper operation
and the sixth detent for high wiper operation.

If A Deployment Occurs
The front air bags are designed to deflate
immediately after deployment.
NOTE:
Front and/or side air bags will not deploy in
all collisions. This does not mean something
is wrong with the air bag system.
If you do have a collision which deploys the
air bags, any or all of the following may occur:
• The air bag material may sometimes causeabrasions and/or skin reddening to the
occupants as the air bags deploy and un-
fold. The abrasions are similar to friction
rope burns or those you might get sliding
along a carpet or gymnasium floor. They
are not caused by contact with chemicals.
They are not permanent and normally heal
quickly. However, if you haven’t healed
significantly within a few days, or if you
have any blistering, see your doctor imme-
diately.
• As the air bags deflate, you may see some smoke-like particles. The particles are a
normal by-product of the process that gen-
erates the non-toxic gas used for air bag
inflation. These airborne particles may ir- ritate the skin, eyes, nose, or throat. If you
have skin or eye irritation, rinse the area
with cool water. For nose or throat irrita-
tion, move to fresh air. If the irritation
continues, see your doctor. If these par-
ticles settle on your clothing, follow the
garment manufacturer’s instructions for
cleaning.
Do not drive your vehicle after the air bags
have deployed. If you are involved in another
collision, the air bags will not be in place to
protect you.
WARNING!
Deployed air bags and seat belt preten-
sioners cannot protect you in another col-
lision. Have the air bags, seat belt preten-
sioners, and the seat belt retractor
assemblies replaced by an authorized
dealer immediately. Also, have the Occu-
pant Restraint Controller System serviced
as well. NOTE:
• Air bag covers may not be obvious in the
interior trim, but they will open during air
bag deployment.
• After any collision, the vehicle should be taken to an authorized dealer
immediately.
Enhanced Accident Response System
In the event of an impact, if the communica-
tion network remains intact, and the power
remains intact, depending on the nature of
the event, the ORC will determine whether to
have the Enhanced Accident Response Sys-
tem perform the following functions:
• Cut off fuel to the engine.
• Flash hazard lights as long as the batteryhas power or until the hazard light button
is pressed. The hazard lights can be deac-
tivated by pressing the hazard light but-
ton.
• Turn on the interior lights, which remain on as long as the battery has power.
• Unlock the power door locks.

NOTE:
The engine block heater cord is a factory
installed option. If your vehicle is not
equipped, heater cords are available from
your authorized MOPAR dealer.
• A 12 Volt heater built into the fuel filterhousing aids in preventing fuel gelling. It is
controlled by a built-in thermostat.
• A Diesel Pre-Heat system both improves engine starting and reduces the amount of
white smoke generated by a warming
engine.
Normal Starting Procedure — Keyless
Enter-N-Go
Observe the instrument panel cluster lights
when starting the engine.
NOTE:
Normal starting of either a cold or a warm
engine is obtained without pumping or press-
ing the accelerator pedal
1. Always apply the parking brake.
2. Press and hold the brake pedal while pushing the ENGINE START/STOP button
once. NOTE:
A delay of the start of up to five seconds is
possible under very cold conditions. The
"Wait to Start" telltale will be illuminated
during the pre-heat process, When the
engine Wait To Start light goes off the
engine will automatically crank.
CAUTION!
If the “Water in Fuel Indicator Light” re-
mains on, DO NOT START the engine be-
fore you drain the water from the fuel
filters to avoid engine damage. Refer to
“Draining Fuel/Water Separator Filter” in
“Servicing And Maintenance” for further
information.
3. The system will automatically engage the starter to crank the engine. If the vehicle
fails to start, the starter will disengage
automatically after 25 seconds.
4. If you wish to stop the cranking of the engine prior to the engine starting, push
the button again.
5. Check that the oil pressure warning light has turned off. 6. Release the parking brake.
Starting Fluids
The engine is equipped with a glow plug
preheating system. If the instructions in this
manual are followed, the engine should start
in all conditions and no type of starting fluid
should be used.
WARNING!
• Do not leave children or animals inside
parked vehicles in hot weather. Interior
heat build up may cause serious injury
or death.
• When leaving the vehicle, always make
sure the keyless ignition node is in the
“OFF” mode, remove the key fob from
the vehicle and lock the vehicle.
• Never leave children alone in a vehicle,
or with access to an unlocked vehicle.
Allowing children to be in a vehicle un-
attended is dangerous for a number of
reasons. A child or others could be seri-
ously or fatally injured. Children should
be warned not to touch the parking
brake, brake pedal or the gear selector.

SCHEDULED SERVICING
NON-SRT
Your vehicle is equipped with an automatic
oil change indicator system. The oil change
indicator system will remind you that it is
time to take your vehicle in for scheduled
maintenance.
Based on engine operation conditions, the oil
change indicator message will illuminate.
This means that service is required for your
vehicle. Operating conditions such as fre-
quent short-trips, trailer tow, extremely hot or
cold ambient temperatures, and E85 fuel
usage will influence when the “Oil Change
Required” message is displayed. Severe op-erating conditions can cause the change oil
message to illuminate as early as
3,500 miles (5,600 km) since last reset.
Have your vehicle serviced as soon as pos-
sible, within the next 500 miles (805 km).
Your authorized dealer will reset the oil
change indicator message after completing
the scheduled oil change.
NOTE:
Under no circumstances should oil change
intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km),
twelve months or 350 hours of engine run
time, whichever comes first. The 350 hours
of engine run or idle time is generally only a
concern for fleet customers. Once A Month Or Before A Long Trip:
• Check engine oil level.
• Check windshield washer fluid level.
• Check the tire inflation pressures and look
for unusual wear or damage.
• Check the fluid levels of the coolant reser- voir, brake master cylinder and fill as
needed.
• Check function of all interior and exterior lights
Required Maintenance
Refer to the Maintenance Schedules on the
following pages for required maintenance.
At Every Oil Change Interval As Indicated By Oil Change Indicator System:
• Change oil and filter.
• Rotate the tires. Rotate at the first sign of irregular wear, even if it occurs before the oil indicator system turns on.
• Inspect battery and clean and tighten terminals as required.
• Inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, hoses and park brake.
• Inspect engine cooling system protection and hoses.
• Inspect exhaust system.
• Inspect engine air cleaner if using in dusty or off-road conditions.SERVICING AND MAINTENANCE

Engine Oil Filter Replacement
Residual oil in the housing may spill from the
housing when the new filter is installed if the
residual oil is not either removed from the
housing or enough time has not elapsed to
allow the oil to drain back into the engine.
When servicing the oil filter on this engine,carefully remove the filter and use a suction
gun to remove any residual oil left in the
housing or wait about 30 minutes for the oil
to drain back into the engine.
Once A Month Or Before A Long Trip:
• Check engine oil level
• Check windshield washer fluid level
