If A Deployment Occurs
The front air bags are designed to deflate
immediately after deployment.
NOTE:
Front and/or side air bags will not deploy in
all collisions. This does not mean something
is wrong with the air bag system.
If you do have a collision which deploys the
air bags, any or all of the following may occur:
• The air bag material may sometimes causeabrasions and/or skin reddening to the
occupants as the air bags deploy and un-
fold. The abrasions are similar to friction
rope burns or those you might get sliding
along a carpet or gymnasium floor. They
are not caused by contact with chemicals.
They are not permanent and normally heal
quickly. However, if you haven’t healed
significantly within a few days, or if you
have any blistering, see your doctor imme-
diately.
• As the air bags deflate, you may see some smoke-like particles. The particles are a
normal by-product of the process that gen-
erates the non-toxic gas used for air bag
inflation. These airborne particles may ir- ritate the skin, eyes, nose, or throat. If you
have skin or eye irritation, rinse the area
with cool water. For nose or throat irrita-
tion, move to fresh air. If the irritation
continues, see your doctor. If these par-
ticles settle on your clothing, follow the
garment manufacturer’s instructions for
cleaning.
Do not drive your vehicle after the air bags
have deployed. If you are involved in another
collision, the air bags will not be in place to
protect you.
WARNING!
Deployed air bags and seat belt preten-
sioners cannot protect you in another col-
lision. Have the air bags, seat belt preten-
sioners, and the seat belt retractor
assemblies replaced by an authorized
dealer immediately. Also, have the Occu-
pant Restraint Controller System serviced
as well. NOTE:
• Air bag covers may not be obvious in the
interior trim, but they will open during air
bag deployment.
• After any collision, the vehicle should be taken to an authorized dealer
immediately.
Enhanced Accident Response System
In the event of an impact, if the communica-
tion network remains intact, and the power
remains intact, depending on the nature of
the event, the ORC will determine whether to
have the Enhanced Accident Response Sys-
tem perform the following functions:
• Cut off fuel to the engine.
• Flash hazard lights as long as the batteryhas power or until the hazard light button
is pressed. The hazard lights can be deac-
tivated by pressing the hazard light but-
ton.
• Turn on the interior lights, which remain on as long as the battery has power.
• Unlock the power door locks.

NOTE:
If the ignition is left in the ACC or RUN
(engine not running) mode and the transmis-
sion is in PARK, the system will automatically
time out after 30 minutes of inactivity and
the ignition will cycle to the OFF mode.
ENGINE START/STOP Button Functions — With
Driver’s Foot OFF The Brake Pedal (In PARK Or
NEUTRAL Position)
The ENGINE START/STOP button operates
similar to an ignition switch. It has four
modes, OFF, ACC, RUN and START. To
change the ignition modes without starting
the vehicle and use the accessories follow
these steps:
• Starting with the ignition in the OFF mode,
• Push the ENGINE START/STOP buttononce to place the ignition to the ACC mode
(instrument cluster will display “ACC”),
• Push the ENGINE START/STOP button a second time to place the ignition to the
RUN mode (instrument cluster will display
“ON/RUN”), • Push the ENGINE START/STOP button a
third time to return the ignition to the OFF
mode (instrument cluster will display
“OFF”).
Cold Weather Operation (Below –22°F Or
−30°C)
To ensure reliable starting at these tempera-
tures, use of an externally powered electric
engine block heater (available from your Au-
thorized Dealer) is recommended.
After Starting
The idle speed is controlled automatically,
and it will decrease as the engine warms up.
If Engine Fails To Start
WARNING!
• Never pour fuel or other flammable liq-uid into the throttle body air inlet open-
ing in an attempt to start the vehicle.
This could result in flash fire causing
serious personal injury.
• Do not attempt to push or tow your
vehicle to get it started. Vehicles

equipped with an automatic transmis-
sion cannot be started this way. Un-
burned fuel could enter the catalytic
converter and once the engine has
started, ignite and damage the converter
and vehicle.
• If the vehicle has a discharged battery,
booster cables may be used to obtain a
start from a booster battery or the battery
in another vehicle. This type of start can
be dangerous if done improperly. Refer
to “Jump-Starting” in “In Case Of Emer-
gency” for further information.
After Starting

DIESEL ENGINES
Before starting your vehicle, adjust your seat,
both inside and outside mirrors, and fasten
your seat belts.

• Do not leave the key fob in or near thevehicle, or in a location accessible to
children, and do not leave the ignition of
a vehicle equipped with Keyless Enter-
N-Go in the ACC or ON/RUN mode. A
child could operate power windows,
other controls, or move the vehicle.
STOP/START SYSTEM — IF
EQUIPPED
The Stop/Start function is developed to re-
duce fuel consumption. The system will stop
the engine automatically during a vehicle
stop if the required conditions are met. Re-
leasing the brake pedal or pressing the accel-
erator pedal will automatically re-start the
engine.
Automatic Mode
The Stop/Start feature is
enabled after every nor-
mal customer engine
start. At that time, the
system will go into STOP/
START READY and if all
other conditions are met,
can go into a STOP/START AUTOSTOP AC-
TIVE “Autostop” mode.
To Activate The Autostop Mode, The Following
Must Occur:
• The system must be in STOP/START READY state. A STOP/START READY mes-
sage will be displayed in the instrument
cluster display within the Stop/Start sec-
tion. Refer to “Instrument Cluster Dis-
play” in “Getting To Know Your Instrument
Panel” in your Owners Manual at
www.jeep.com/en/owners/manuals/ .
• The vehicle must be completely stopped.
• The shifter must be in a forward gear and the brake pedal depressed. The engine will shut down, the tachometer
will move to the zero position and the Stop/
Start telltale will illuminate indicating you
are in Autostop. Customer settings will be
maintained upon return to an engine running
condition.

Possible Reasons The Engine Does Not
Autostop
Prior to engine shut down, the system will
check many safety and comfort conditions to
see if they are fulfilled. Detailed information
about the operation of the Stop/Start system
may be viewed in the instrument cluster dis-
play Stop/Start Screen. In the following situ-
ations, the engine will not stop:
• Driver’s seat belt is not buckled.
• Driver’s door is not closed.
• Battery temperature is too warm or cold.
• Battery charge is low.
• The vehicle is on a steep grade.

• Cabin heating or cooling is in process andan acceptable cabin temperature has not
been achieved.
• HVAC is set to full defrost mode at a high blower speed.
• HVAC set to MAX A/C.
• Engine has not reached normal operating temperature.
• The transmission is not in a forward gear.
• Hood is open.
• Vehicle is in 4LO transfer case mode.
• Brake pedal is not pressed with sufficient pressure.
Other Factors Which Can Inhibit Autostop In-
clude:
• Accelerator pedal input.
• Engine temp too high.
• 5 MPH threshold not achieved from previ- ous AUTOSTOP.
• Steering angle beyond threshold.
• ACC is on and speed is set. It may be possible for the vehicle to be driven
several times without the STOP/START sys-
tem going into a STOP/START READY state
under more extreme conditions of the items
listed above.
To Start The Engine While In Autostop
Mode
While in a forward gear, the engine will start
when the brake pedal is released or the
throttle pedal is depressed. The transmission
will automatically re-engage upon engine re-
start.
Conditions That Will Cause The Engine To Start
Automatically While In Autostop Mode:
• The transmission selector is moved out of
DRIVE.
• To maintain cabin temperature comfort.
• HVAC is set to full defrost mode.
• HVAC system temperature or fan speed is manually adjusted.
• Battery voltage drops too low.
• Low brake vacuum (e.g. after several brake pedal applications).
• STOP/START OFF switch is pushed. • A STOP/START system error occurs.
• 4WD system is put into 4LO mode.
To Manually Turn Off The Stop/Start
System
1. Push the STOP/START OFF switch (lo-
cated on the switch bank). The light on
the switch will illuminate.
2. The “STOP/START OFF” message will ap- pear in the instrument cluster display.

FLASHERS
Control
The Hazard Warning flasher switch is located
on the switch bank just above the climate
controls.
Push the switch to turn on the Hazard Warn-
ing flasher. When the switch is activated, all
directional turn signals will flash on and off towarn oncoming traffic of an emergency. Push
the switch a second time to turn off the
Hazard Warning flashers.
This is an emergency warning system and it
should not be used when the vehicle is in
motion. Use it when your vehicle is disabled
and it is creating a safety hazard for other
motorists.
When you must leave the vehicle to seek
assistance, the Hazard Warning flashers will
continue to operate even though the ignition
is placed in the OFF position. NOTE:
With extended use, the Hazard Warning
flashers may discharge the battery.

Center High-Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL)
The center high mounted stop lamp is an
LED. Service at an authorized dealer.
Rear License Lamp
The rear license lamps are LEDs. See your
authorized dealer for service.
FUSES
WARNING!
• When replacing a blown fuse, always usean appropriate replacement fuse with
the same amp rating as the original fuse.
Never replace a fuse with another fuse of
higher amp rating. Never replace a
blown fuse with metal wires or any other
material. Failure to use proper fuses may
result in serious personal injury, fire
and/or property damage.
• Before replacing a fuse, make sure that
the ignition is off and that all the other
services are switched off and/or disen-
gaged.
• If the replaced fuse blows again, contact
an authorized dealer.
• If a general protection fuse for safety
systems (air bag system, braking sys-
tem), power unit systems (engine sys-
tem, gearbox system) or steering system
blows, contact an authorized dealer.
General Information
The fuses protect electrical systems against
excessive current.
When a device does not work you must check
the electrical circuit inside the fuse for a
break/melt.
Also please be aware that when using power
outlets for extended periods of time with the
engine off may result in vehicle battery dis-
charge.
Underhood Fuses
The Power Distribution Center is located in
the engine compartment near the battery.
This center contains cartridge fuses, micro
fuses, relays, and circuit breakers. A descrip-
tion of each fuse and component may be
stamped on the inside cover, otherwise the
cavity number of each fuse is stamped on the
inside cover that corresponds to the following
chart.

WARNING!
A loose tire or jack thrown forward in a
collision or hard stop could endanger the
occupants of the vehicle. Always stow the
jack parts and the spare tire in the places
provided. Have the deflated (flat) tire re-
paired or replaced immediately.
Changing Procedure
1. Mount the road tire on the axle.
2. Install the remaining lug nuts with thecone shaped end of the nut toward the
wheel. Lightly tighten the lug nuts.
WARNING!
To avoid the risk of forcing the vehicle off
the jack, do not tighten the lug nuts fully
until the vehicle has been lowered. Failure
to follow this warning may result in per-
sonal injury.
3. Lower the vehicle to the ground by turning the jack handle counterclockwise.
4. Finish tightening the lug nuts. Push down on the wrench while at the end of the handle for increased leverage. Tighten the
lug nuts in a star pattern until each nut
has been tightened twice. The correct
tightness of each lug nut is 130 ft-lbs
(176 N·m). If in doubt about the correct
tightness, have them checked with a
torque wrench by your authorized dealer
or service station.
NOTE:
For the SRT model the correct wheel nut
tightness is 110 ft lbs (149 N·m).
5. After 25 miles (40 km) check the lug nut torque with a torque wrench to ensure that
all lug nuts are properly seated against the
wheel.JUMP-STARTING
If your vehicle has a discharged battery it can
be jump-started using a set of jumper cables
and a battery in another vehicle or by using a
portable battery booster pack. Jump-starting
can be dangerous if done improperly so
please follow the procedures in this section
carefully.
WARNING!
Do not attempt jump-starting if the battery
is frozen. It could rupture or explode and
cause personal injury.
CAUTION!
Do not use a portable battery booster pack
or any other booster source with a system
voltage greater than 12 Volts or damage to
the battery, starter motor, alternator or
electrical system may occur.
NOTE:
When using a portable battery booster pack
follow the manufacturer's operating instruc-
tions and precautions.
Preparations For Jump-Starting
The battery in your vehicle is located under
the passenger's front seat. There are remote
locations located under the hood to assist in
jump-starting.
