Maintenance (P503)
Under the Hood (P511)
● Check engine oil, engine coolant, and windshield washer 
fluid. Add when necessary.
● Check brake fluid.
● Check the battery condition monthly.
aPull the hood release handle under the corner of the 
dashboard.
bLocate the hood latch lever, pull the lever up, and lift up 
the hood.
cWhen finished, close the hood  and make sure it is firmly 
locked in place.
Lights (P523)
● Inspect all lights regularly.
Wiper Blades (P529)
● Replace blades if they leave streaks 
across the windshield.
Tires (P531)
● Inspect tires and wheels regularly.
● Check tire pressures regularly.
● Install snow tires for winter

Exhaust Gas Hazard
Carbon Monoxide Gas
The engine exhaust from this vehicle contains carbon monoxide, a colorless, 
odorless, and highly toxic gas. As long as you properly maintain your vehicle, carbon 
monoxide gas will not  get into the interior.
■Have the exhaust system in spected for leaks whenever
• The exhaust system is m aking an unusual noise.
• The exhaust system may have been damaged.
• The vehicle is raised for an oil change.
1Carbon Monoxide Gas
An enclosed area such as a garage can quickly fill up 
with carbon monoxide gas.
Do not run the engine with the garage door closed. 
Even when the garage door is open, drive out of the 
garage immediately afte r starting the engine.
3WARNING
Carbon monoxide gas is toxic.
Breathing it can cause unconsciousness and 
even kill you.
Avoid any enclosed areas or activities that 
expose you to carbon monoxide.

You can also support motorcycles on the pickup bed floor with the cleats.
The floor panel of the pickup bed is designed to hold motorcycle tires. Be sure to 
tighten motorcycles securely, with an ap proved tie-down or motorcycle strap, 
according to the motorcyc le maker’s instructions.
When carrying motorcycles or any other cargo, do not spill any oil or fluid on the 
pickup bed. A spilled liquid may damage the pickup bed.

uuWhen Driving uStarting the Engine
Driving
■To start the engine
The engine runs for up to 10 minutes without you starting the vehicle.
To extend the run time for another 10 minutes during the first run, press the   
button, then press an d hold the   button.
u Some exterior lights come back on three times, twice, if a 10-minute extension 
request was transmitted successfully.1Remote Engine Start*
•There is any antenna failure.•Door is unlocked with the built-in key.
•The engine oil pressure is low.
•The engine coolant temper ature is extremely high.•The telematics unit malfunctions.
•The security system alarm is not set.
The engine may stop whil e it is running if:
•You do not start the vehicl e within 10 minutes of 
starting the engine with the smart entry remote.
•The engine is stopped by using the smart entry 
remote.

•Door is unlocked with the built-in key.
•The hood is open, or any door, or the trunk is 
unlocked.
•The shift lever is in a position other than ( P.
