Caution
If the recommended pressure
cannot be reached after
approximately 25 minutes, the
vehicle should not be driven
farther. The tire is too severely
damaged and the tire sealant and
compressor kit cannot inflate the
tire. Remove the power plug from
the accessory power outlet and
unscrew the inflating hose from
the tire valve. SeeRoadside
Assistance Program0368.
12. Switch the on/off switch (1) tothe O position.
The tire is not sealed and willcontinue to leak air until thevehicle is driven and thesealant is distributed in the tire.Therefore, Steps 13–19 mustbe done immediately afterStep 12.
Be careful while handling thetire sealant and compressor kitas it could be warm afterusage.
13. Unplug the power plug (6) fromthe accessory power outlet inthe vehicle.
14. Turn the sealant/air hose (5)counterclockwise to remove itfrom the tire valve stem.
15. Replace the tire valvestem cap.
16. Replace the sealant/airhose (5), and the power plug (6back in their original location.
17. If the flat tire was able to inflateto the recommended inflationpressure, remove themaximum speed label from thetire sealant canister (3) andplace it in a highly visiblelocation.
Do not exceed the speed onthis label until the damaged tireis repaired or replaced.
18. Return the equipment to itsoriginal storage location in thevehicle.
19. Immediately drive the vehicle8km(5mi)todistributethesealant in the tire.
20. Stop at a safe location andcheck the tire pressure. Referto Steps 1–10 under“Using theTire Sealant and CompressorKit without Sealant to Inflate aTire (Not Punctured).”
If the tire pressure has fallenmore than 68 kPa (10 psi)below the recommendedinflation pressure, stop drivingthe vehicle. The tire is tooseverely damaged and the tiresealant cannot seal the tire.SeeRoadside AssistanceProgram0368.
If the tire pressure has notdropped more than 68 kPa(10 psi) from the recommendedinflation pressure, inflate thetire to the recommendedinflation pressure.

21. Wipe off any sealant from thewheel, tire or vehicle.
22. Dispose of the used tiresealant canister (3) andsealant/air hose (5) assemblyat a local dealer or inaccordance with local statecodes and practices.
23. Replace it with a new canisteravailable from your dealer.
24. After temporarily sealing a tireusing the tire sealant andcompressor kit, take thevehicle to an authorized dealerwithin 161 km (100 mi) ofdriving to have the tire repairedor replaced.
Using the Tire Sealant andCompressor Kit without Sealant toInflate a Tire (Not Punctured)
To u s e t h e a i r c o m p r e s s o r t o i n f l a t eatirewithaironlyandnotsealant:
1. On/Off Switch
2. Pressure Gauge
3. Tire Sealant Canister
4. Air Only Hose
5. Sealant/Air Hose
6. Power Plug
If a tire goes flat, avoid further tireand wheel damage by driving slowlyto a level place. Turn on the hazardwarning flashers. SeeHazardWarning Flashers0127.

1. Remove the tire sealant andcompressor kit from its storagelocation. SeeStoring the TireSealant and Compressor Kit0329.
2. Lift the lever and pull the aironly hose (4) from the bottomof the tire sealant andcompressor kit.
3. Remove the power plug (6)from the air compressor.
4. Place the kit on the ground.
Make sure the tire valve stemis positioned close to theground so the hose willreach it.
5. Remove the tire valve stemcap by turning itcounterclockwise.
6. Attach the air only hose (4)onto the tire valve stem andpress the lever down tosecure it.
7. Plug the power plug (6) into theaccessory power outlet in thevehicle. Unplug all items fromother accessory power outlets.SeePower Outlets094.

If the vehicle has an accessorypower outlet, do not use thecigarette lighter.
If the vehicle only has acigarette lighter, use thecigarette lighter.
Do not pinch the power plugcord in the door or window.
8. Start the vehicle. The vehiclemust be running while usingthe air compressor.
9. Switch the on/off switch (1) tothe I position.
The compressor will inflate thetire with air only.
10. Inflate the tire to therecommended inflationpressure using the pressuregauge (2). The recommendedinflation pressure can be foundon the Tire and LoadingInformation label. SeeTirePressure0309.
The pressure gauge (2) mayread higher than the actual tirepressure while the compressoris on. Turn the compressor offto get an accurate reading. The
compressor may be turned on/off until the correct pressure isreached.

12. Unplug the power plug (6) andthe air only hose (4).
13. Replace the tire valvestem cap.
14. Place the equipment in theoriginal storage location in thevehicle.
Removal and Installation of theSealant Canister
After repairing a tire, replace the tiresealant canister.
To r e m o v e t h e s e a l a n t c a n i s t e r :
1. Unlock the air only hose (4)from the tire sealantcanister (3) by pulling up on thelever.
2. Pull the air only hose (4) fromthe tire sealant canister (3).
3. Unwrap the sealant/air hose (5)from the air compressor.
4. Turn the sealant canister (3)counterclockwise so thesealant/air hose (5) is alignedwith the slot in the compressor.
5. Lift the tire sealant canister (3)from the compressor andreplace with a new tire sealantcanister. See your dealer formore information.

15. Tighten the wheel nuts firmly inacrisscrosssequence,asshown.
16. Lower the jack all the way andremove the jack from under thevehicle.
17. Tighten the wheel nuts firmlywith the wheel wrench.
Storing a Flat or Spare Tire
and Tools
{Warning
Storing a jack, a tire, or other
equipment in the passenger
compartment of the vehicle could
cause injury. In a sudden stop or
collision, loose equipment could
strike someone. Store all these in
the proper place.
Replace the jack, tools, containerand flat tire in the trunk by reversingthe steps used to remove them.
Full-Size Spare Tire
If this vehicle came with a full-sizespare tire, it was fully inflated whennew, however, it can lose air overtime. Check the inflation pressureregularly. SeeTire Pressure0309andVehicle Load Limits0226forinformation regarding proper tireinflation and loading the vehicle. Forinstructions on how to remove,install, or store a spare tire, seeTireChanging0329.
After installing the spare tire on thevehicle, stop as soon as possibleand check that the spare is correctlyinflated. The spare tire is made toperform well at speeds up to11 2 k m / h ( 7 0 m p h ) a t t h erecommended inflation pressure, soyou can finish your trip.
The full-size spare includes a TPMSsensor. The TPMS will not monitoror display the spare tire air pressureuntil the tire/wheel is installed at oneof the four tire/wheel positions onthe vehicle and matched to the newposition. SeeTire Pressure MonitorOperation0312for informationabout matching the spare tire tothe TPMS.
Have the damaged or flat road tirerepaired or replaced and installedback onto the vehicle as soon aspossible so the spare tire will beavailable in case it is needed again.Do not mix tires and wheels ofdifferent sizes, because they will notfit. Keep the spare tire and its wheeltogether.

Fans or other moving engine
parts can injure you badly. Keep
your hands away from moving
parts once the engine is running.
5. Connect one end of the redpositive (+) cable to the jumpstart remote positive (+)post (1) of the dischargedbattery.
6. Connect the other end of thered positive (+) cable to thepositive (+) terminal of thegood battery.
7. Connect one end of the blacknegative (–)cabletothenegative (–)terminalofthegood battery.
8. Connect the other end of theblack negative (–)cabletotheremote negative (–)post(2).
9. Start the engine in the vehiclewith the good battery and runthe engine at idle speed for atleast four minutes.
10. Try to start the vehicle that hadthe dead battery. If it will notstart after a few tries, itprobably needs service.
Caution
If the jumper cables are
connected or removed in the
wrong order, electrical shorting
may occur and damage the
vehicle. The repairs would not be
covered by the vehicle warranty.
Always connect and remove the
jumper cables in the correct order,
making sure that the cables do
not touch each other or other
metal.
Jumper Cable Removal
Reverse the sequence exactly whenremoving the jumper cables
After starting the disabled vehicleand removing the jumper cables,allow it to idle for several minutes.
Towing the Vehicle
Caution
Incorrectly towing a disabled
vehicle may cause damage. The
damage would not be covered by
the vehicle warranty.
Do not lash or hook to
suspension components. Use the
proper straps around the tires to
secure the vehicle.
Have the vehicle towed on a flatbedcar carrier. A wheel lift tow truckcould damage the vehicle.
Consult your dealer or aprofessional towing service if thedisabled vehicle must be towed.

Air Intakes
Clear debris from the air intakes,hood vents, and between the hoodand windshield, when washing thevehicle.
Windshield and Wiper Blades
Clean the outside of the windshieldwith glass cleaner.
Clean rubber blades using a lint-freecloth or paper towel soaked withwindshield washer fluid or a milddetergent. Wash the windshieldthoroughly when cleaning theblades. Bugs, road grime, sap, andabuildupofvehiclewash/waxtreatments may cause wiperstreaking.
Replace the wiper blades if they areworn or damaged. Damage can becaused by extreme dustyconditions, sand, salt, heat, sun,snow, and ice.
Weatherstrips
Apply Dielectric silicone grease onweatherstrips to make them lastlonger, seal better, and not stick orsqueak. Lubricate weatherstrips at
least once a year. Hot, dry climatesmay require more frequentapplication. Black marks fromrubber material on painted surfacescan be removed by rubbing with aclean cloth. SeeRecommendedFluids and Lubricants0358.
Tires
Use a stiff brush with tire cleaner toclean the tires.
Caution
Using petroleum-based tire
dressing products on the vehicle
may damage the paint finish and/
or tires. When applying a tire
dressing, always wipe off any
overspray from all painted
surfaces on the vehicle.
Wheels and Trim—Aluminum
or Chrome
Use a soft, clean cloth with mildsoap and water to clean the wheels.After rinsing thoroughly with cleanwater, dry with a soft, clean towel.Awaxmaythenbeapplied.
Caution
Chrome wheels and other chrome
trim may be damaged if the
vehicle is not washed after driving
on roads that have been sprayed
with magnesium, calcium,
or sodium chloride. These
chlorides are used on roads for
conditions such as ice and dust.
Always wash the chrome with
soap and water after exposure.
Caution

use strong soaps, chemicals,
abrasive polishes, cleaners,
brushes, or cleaners that contain
acid on aluminum or
chrome-plated wheels. Use only
approved cleaners. Also, never

Engine Oil Change
When the CHANGE ENGINE OILSOON message displays, have theengine oil and filter changed withinthe next 1 000 km/600 mi. If drivenunder the best conditions, theengine oil life system may notindicate the need for vehicle servicefor up to a year. The engine oil andfilter must be changed at least once
