(RKE) System
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)transmitter functions may work fromup to 60 m (197 ft) away from thevehicle.
K:Press to unlock the driver door.
PressKagain within three seconds
to unlock all remaining doors.
Q:Press to lock all doors. Lockand unlock feedback can bepersonalized. SeeVehiclePersonalization0139.
7:Press and release one time to
initiate vehicle locator. Press7and
hold for at least three seconds to
sound the panic alarm. Press7
again to cancel the panic alarm.

Remote Vehicle Start
If equipped, the engine can bestarted from outside of the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle
1. Press and releaseQon the
RKE transmitter.
2. Immediately press and hold/
for at least four seconds or untilthe turn signal lamps flash.
Start the vehicle normally afterentering.
When the vehicle starts, the parkinglamps will turn on.
Remote start can be extended.
Canceling a Remote Start
To c a n c e l a r e m o t e s t a r t , d o o n e o fthe following:
.Press and hold/until the
parking lamps turn off.
.Turn on the hazard warningflashers.
.Turn the vehicle on and then off.

K:Press once to unlock only the
driver door. IfKis pressed again
within three seconds, all remainingdoors unlock. The interior lampsmay come on and stay on for20 seconds or until the ignition isturned on.
If enabled through the DIC, the turnsignal lamps flash twice to indicateunlocking has occurred. SeeVehiclePersonalization0139.Ifenabledthrough the DIC, the exterior lampsmay turn on. SeeVehiclePersonalization0139.
PressingKon the RKE transmitter
disarms the vehicle alarm system.SeeVehicle Alarm System036.
7:Press and release one time toinitiate vehicle locator. The turnsignal lamps flash and the hornsounds three times.
Press and hold7for at least
three seconds to sound the panicalarm. The turn signal lamps flashand the horn sounds repeatedly for30 seconds. The alarm turns offwhen the ignition is moved to ON/
RUN or7is pressed again. The
ignition must be in LOCK/OFF forthe panic alarm to work.
Programming Transmitters to
the Vehicle
Only RKE transmitters programmedto this vehicle will work. If atransmitter is lost or stolen, areplacement can be purchased andprogrammed through your dealer.Each vehicle can have up toeight transmitters programmed to it.See your dealer for transmitterprogramming.
Battery Replacement
Replace the battery in thetransmitter soon if the REPLACEBATTERY IN REMOTE KEYmessage displays in the DIC.
Caution
When replacing the battery, do
not touch any of the circuitry on
the transmitter. Static from your
body could damage the
transmitter.
To r e p l a c e t h e b a t t e r y :
1. Separate and remove the backcover of the transmitter with aflat, thin object, such as a coin.

After closing the tailgate, pull it backto be sure it latches securely.
Tailgate Removal
The tailgate can be removed toallow for different loading situations.Assistance may be needed with theremoval to avoid damage to thevehicle.
On vehicles with a Rear VisionCamera, it must be disconnectedbefore removing the tailgate. SeeRear Vision Camera (RVC)0261.
To r e m o v e t h e t a i l g a t e :
1. Raise the tailgate and supportit firmly. Pull out and hold thecable retaining clip (1). Pushthe cable (3) up and off of thebolt (2). Repeat on theother side.
2. With the tailgate about halfwayopen, lift the right edge of thetailgate from the lower pivot.
On vehicles with the tailgateassist feature, raise the tailgatenearly all the way to the closedposition prior to removing theleft edge.
3. Move the tailgate to the rightand away to release theleft edge.
Reverse this procedure to reinstallthe tailgate. Make sure the tailgateis secure.
Vehicle Security
This vehicle has theft-deterrentfeatures; however, they do not makethe vehicle impossible to steal.
Vehicle Alarm System
If equipped with the anti-theft alarmsystem, the indicator light, on theinstrument panel near thewindshield, indicates the status ofthe system.
Off :Alarm system is disarmed.
On Solid :Ve h i c l e i s s e c u r e dduring the delay to arm the system.

Fast Flash :Vehicle is unsecured.Adoororthehoodisopen.
Slow Flash :Alarm system isarmed.
Arming the Alarm System
1. Turn off the vehicle.
2. Lock the vehicle with one ofthe following:
.Use the Remote KeylessEntry (RKE) transmitter.
.With a door open, pressQ
on the interior of the door.
3. After 30 seconds the alarmsystem will arm, and theindicator light will begin toslowly flash indicating thealarm system is operating.
PressingQon the RKE
transmitter a second time willbypass the 30-second delayand immediately arm the alarmsystem.
The theft-deterrent alarm system willnot arm if the doors are locked withthe key.
If the driver door is opened withoutfirst unlocking with the RKEtransmitter, the horn will chirp andthe lights will flash to indicatepre-alarm. If the vehicle is notstarted, or the door is not unlocked
by pressingKon the RKE
transmitter during the 10-secondpre-alarm, the alarm will beactivated.
If a door or the hood is openedwithout first disarming the system,the turn signals will flash and thehorn will sound for about30 seconds. The alarm system willthen re-arm to monitor for the nextunauthorized event.
Disarming the Alarm System
To d i s a r m t h e a l a r m s y s t e m o r t u r noff the alarm if it has been activated:
.PressKon the RKE transmitter.
.Start the vehicle.
To a v o i d s e t t i n g o f f t h e a l a r m b yaccident:
.Lock the vehicle after alloccupants have left the vehicleand all doors are closed.
.Always unlock a door with theRKE transmitter.
Unlocking the driver door with thekey will not disarm the system orturn off the alarm.
Detecting a Tamper Condition
IfKis pressed on the RKE
transmitter and the horn chirps threetimes, an alarm occurred previouslywhile the alarm system was armed.
Immobilizer

Immobilizer Operation
This vehicle has a passivetheft-deterrent system.
The system does not have to bemanually armed or disarmed.

Vehicle Messages
Messages displayed on the DICindicate the status of the vehicle orsome action that may be needed tocorrect a condition. Multiplemessages may display one after theother.
The messages that do not requireimmediate action can beacknowledged and cleared by
pressing SET/CLR orV.The
messages that require immediateaction cannot be cleared until thataction is performed. All messagesshould be taken seriously andclearing the messages does notcorrect the problem.
The following are some of thevehicle messages that may bedisplayed depending on yourvehicle content.
If the vehicle has a diesel engine,see the Duramax diesel supplementfor additional messages.
Battery Voltage and
Charging Messages
BATTERY LOW START
VEHICLE
When the vehicle’sbatteryisseverely discharged, this messagewill display and four chimes willsound. Start the vehicleimmediately. If the vehicle is notstarted and the battery continues todischarge, the climate controls,heated seats, and audio systemswill shut off and the vehicle mayrequire a jump start. These systemswill function again after the vehicleis started.
BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE
This message displays when thebattery voltage drops belowexpected levels and features aredisabled. Turn off all unnecessaryaccessory features.
SERVICE BATTERY
CHARGING SYSTEM
On some vehicles, this messagedisplays if there is a problem withthe battery charging system. Undercertain conditions, the chargingsystem light may also turn on in theinstrument cluster. SeeChargingSystem Light011 8.Drivingwiththisproblem could drain the battery.Turn off all unnecessaryaccessories. Have the electricalsystem checked as soon aspossible. See your dealer.
TRANSPORT MODE ON
This message is displayed when thevehicle is in transport mode. Somefeatures can be disabled while inthis mode, including RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE), remote start,and the vehicle alarm system. Takethe vehicle to your dealer for serviceto turn transport mode off.
