Head Restraints
The vehicle's front seats haveadjustable head restraints in theoutboard seating positions.
{Warning
With head restraints that are not
installed and adjusted properly,
there is a greater chance that
occupants will suffer a neck/
spinal injury in a crash. Do not
drive until the head restraints for
all occupants are installed and
adjusted properly.
Adjust the head restraint so that thetop of the restraint is at the sameheight as the top of the occupant'shead. This position reduces thechance of a neck injury in a crash.
Driver Seat, Inboard Button
The height of the head restraint canbe adjusted. Pull the head restraintup to raise it. Try to move the headrestraint to make sure that it islocked in place.
To l o w e r t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t , p r e s sthe button, located on the top of theseatback, and push the restraintdown. Try to move the head
restraint after the button is releasedto make sure that it is locked inplace.
The front seat outboard headrestraints are not removable.
Rear Head Restraints
Crew Cab
The vehicle’srearseatshaveheadrestraints in the outboard seatingpositions that cannot be adjusted upor down.
The rear outboard head restraintsare designed to be folded. Whenfolding the seatback down, the head

restraint must first be manuallyfolded forward out of the way to foldthe seatback down.
The head restraint can be foldedforward to allow for better visibilitywhen the rear seat is unoccupied.To f o l d t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t , p r e s s t h ebutton on the side of the headrestraint.
When an occupant is in the seat,always return the head restraint tothe upright position until it locks intoplace. Push and pull on the headrestraint to make sure that it islocked.

Seat Adjustment

vehicle if you try to adjust a driver
seat while the vehicle is moving.
Adjust the driver seat only when
the vehicle is not moving.
To a d j u s t t h e s e a t :
1. Pull the handle at the front ofthe seat.
2. Slide the seat to the desiredposition and release thehandle.
3. Try to move the seat back andforth to be sure the seat islocked in place.
Power Seat Adjustment
To a d j u s t t h e s e a t , i f e q u i p p e d :
.Move the seat forward orrearward by sliding the controlforward or rearward.
.Raise or lower the entire seat bymoving the entire control upor down.

Lumbar Adjustment
Power Lumbar
If equipped, press and hold the topof the control to increase lumbarsupport. Press and hold the bottomof the control to decrease lumbarsupport. Release the control whenthe seatback reaches the desiredlevel of lumbar support.
Reclining Seatbacks
{Warning
Sitting in a reclined position when
the vehicle is in motion can be
dangerous. Even when buckled
up, the safety belts cannot do
their job.
The shoulder belt will not be
against your body. Instead, it will
be in front of you. In a crash, you
could go into it, receiving neck or
other injuries.
The lap belt could go up over
your abdomen. The belt forces
would be there, not at your pelvic
bones. This could cause serious
internal injuries.
For proper protection when the
vehicle is in motion, have the
seatback upright. Then sit well
back in the seat and wear the
safety belt properly.
Do not have a seatback reclined ifthe vehicle is moving.

stop or crash. That could cause
injury to the person sitting there.
Always push and pull on the
seatbacks to be sure they are
locked.
To r e c l i n e t h e s e a t b a c k :
1. Lift the lever.
2. Move the seatback to thedesired position, and thenrelease the lever to lock theseatback in place.
3. Push and pull on the seatbackto make sure it is locked.

1. Lift the lever fully withoutapplying pressure to theseatback.

Heated Front Seats
{Warning
If you cannot feel temperature
change or pain to the skin, the
seat heater may cause burns. To
reduce the risk of burns, people
with such a condition should use
care when using the seat heater,
especially for long periods of
time. Do not place anything on

the seat that insulates against
heat, such as a blanket, cushion,
cover, or similar item. This may
cause the seat heater to
overheat. An overheated seat
heater may cause a burn or may
damage the seat.
If equipped, the buttons are on thecenter stack. To operate, the enginemust be running.

passenger seatback only.

Presszto heat the driver or
passenger cushion and seatback.
The indicator light comes on whenthis feature is on.
Press the button once for thehighest setting. With each press ofthe button, the seat will change tothe next lower setting, and then tothe off setting. The indicator lightsnext to the buttons indicate three forthe highest setting and one for thelowest. If the heated seats are onhigh, their level may automaticallybe lowered after approximately30 minutes.
Remote Start Auto Heated
Seats
During a remote start, the heatedseats can be turned onautomatically. The heated seats arecanceled when the ignition is turnedon. Press the heated seat button touse the heated seats after thevehicle is started.
The heated seat indicator lights donot turn on during a remote start.
The temperature performance of anunoccupied seat may be reduced.This is normal.
The heated seats will not turn onduring a remote start unless theyare enabled in the vehiclepersonalization menu. SeeRemoteVehicle Start032andVehiclePersonalization0139.
Rear Seats
Rear Seat Reminder
Look in Rear Seat ReminderFeature
If equipped, this message displaysunder certain conditions indicatingthere may be an item or passengerin the rear seat. Check beforeexiting the vehicle.
This feature will activate when asecond row door is opened whilethe vehicle is on or up to 10 minutesbefore the vehicle is turned on,including if the vehicle was startedremotely. There will be an alertwhen the vehicle is turned off. Thealert does not directly detect objectsin the rear seat; instead, undercertain conditions, it detects when arear door is opened and closed,indicating that there may besomething in the rear seat.
The feature is active only once eachtime the vehicle is turned on and off,and will require reactivation byopening and closing the second rowdoors. There may be an alert evenwhen there is nothing in the rear

Folding the Rear Seat
On crew cab models, the rearseatbacks can be folded forward.
Caution
Folding a rear seat with the safety
belts still fastened may cause
damage to the seat or the safety
belts. Always unbuckle the safety
belts and return them to their
normal stowed position before
folding a rear seat.
To f o l d a r e a r s e a t b a c k :
1. Fold the head restraint. SeeHead Restraints045.
2. Disconnect the rear centersafety belt latch from themini-buckle by inserting the tipof the safety belt tongue intothe slot on the buckle. Let thebelt retract.
3. Pull the release strap on theoutboard side of the seatback.
4. Fold the seatback forward.

1. Lift the seatback up and push itrearward.

routed, not properly attached,
or twisted will not provide the
protection needed in a crash. The
person wearing the belt could be
seriously injured. After raising the
rear seatback, always check to be
sure that the safety belts are
properly routed and attached, and
are not twisted.
4. Reconnect the center safetybelt latch plate to themini-buckle. Make sure thesafety belt is not twisted.
5. Push and pull on the latchplate to be sure it is secure.
When the seatback is not in use, itshould be kept in the upright, lockedposition.

Do not let anyone ride where a
safety belt cannot be worn
properly. In a crash, if you or your
passenger(s) are not wearing
safety belts, injuries can be much
worse than if you are wearing
safety belts. You can be seriously
injured or killed by hitting things
inside the vehicle harder or by
being ejected from the vehicle. In
addition, anyone who is not
buckled up can strike other
passengers in the vehicle.
It is extremely dangerous to ride
in a cargo area, inside or outside
of a vehicle. In a collision,
passengers riding in these areas
are more likely to be seriously
injured or killed. Do not allow

Why Safety Belts Work
When riding in a vehicle, you travelas fast as the vehicle does. If thevehicle stops suddenly, you keepgoing until something stops you.It could be the windshield, theinstrument panel, or the safety belts!
When you wear a safety belt, youand the vehicle slow down together.There is more time to stop becauseyou stop over a longer distance and,when worn properly, your strongestbones take the forces from thesafety belts. That is why wearingsafety belts makes such goodsense.

A:Yo ucouldbe—whether you arewearing a safety belt or not.Yo u r c h a n c e o f b e i n g c o n s c i o u sduring and after a crash, so youcanunbuckle and get out, ismuchgreater if you are belted.
Q: If my vehicle has airbags, whyshould I have to wear safetybelts?
A:Airbags are supplementalsystems only. They workwithsafety belts—not instead ofthem. Whether or not an airbagis provided, all occupants stillhave to buckle up to get themost protection.
Also, in nearly all states and inall Canadian provinces, the lawrequires wearing safety belts.
