Head-up Display
Applies to: vehicles with Head-up Display

The Head-up Display projects certain warnings or
selected information from the assist systems* or
navigation* on the windshield. The d isplay ap­
pears within the drive r's field of vision.
Switching on/off
• To switch the Head-up Display on or off, press
the knob

Adjusting the height
The height of the display can be adjusted to the
individual driver.
• Make sure you are seated correctly

• Turn the knob 1;) to adjust the display.
Settings in the Infotainment system
• Se lect in the Infotainment system: !MENU I but ­

sist
> Head-up display .
Display content
In the Infotainment system, yo u can specify
which information should be displayed: For ex­
ample, this can include navigation information*,
adaptive cruise control* or camera-based traffic
sign recognit ion* .
The display of certain information and some of the red indicator lights cannot be hidden in the
Infotainment system.
Brightness
You can adjust the display brightness in the Info­
tainment system. The display brightness decreas-

Picture rotation
You can rotate the picture in the Infotainment
system clockwise o r counterclockwise.
(D Note
To prevent scratches on the glass cover ing the
head-up display, do not place any objects in
the pro jection opening.
(D Tips
- Sunglasses with polarization filters and un­
favorable lighting conditions can have a
negative effect on the display .
- An opt imum disp lay depends on the seat
posi tion and the heigh t adjustment of the
head -up disp lay.
- A special windshie ld is needed for the head­
up display function.
- For information on cleaning, refer to¢
ta­
ble Interior cleaning on page 339.

The door cannot be opened for a brief period di­rectly after locking it. This way you have the op­
portunity to check if the doors locked correctly .
The settings in the Infotainment system deter­
mine if the entire vehicle or only one of the doors
is unlocked when unlocking the vehicle
~ page 41.
A WARNING
Read and follow all WARNINGS¢&. in De­
scription on page 37.
@ Tips
If your vehicle is left standing for a long peri­
od of time, note the following:
- The proximity sensor switches off after a
few days to save energy. You then have to
pull once on the door handle to unlock the
vehicle and a second time to open it.
-
- The energy management system gradually
turns off unnecessary convenience functions
to prevent the battery from draining and to
maintain the vehicle's ability to start for as
long as possible. You may not be able to un­
lock your vehicle using the convenience key.
Central locking switch

When locking the vehicle with the central locking
switch, the following applies :
- Opening the door and the luggage compart­
ment lid from the
outside is not possible (for
security reasons , such as when stopped at a
light).
Opening and closing
- The LED in the central locking switch turns on
when all doors are closed and locked.
- You can open the doors individually from the
inside by pulling the door handle.
- In the event of a crash with airbag deployment,
the doors unlock automatically to allow access
to the vehicle.
A WARNING
-- The central locking switch also works when
the ignition is switched off and automatical­
ly locks the entire vehicle when the
tfl but­
ton is pressed.
- The central locking switch is inoperative
when the vehicle is locked from the outside.
- Locked doors make it more difficult for
emergency workers to get into the vehicle,
which puts lives at risk. Do not leave anyone
behind in the vehicle, especially children.

Your vehicle locks automatically when it
reaches a speed of 9 mph (15 km/h) (Auto
Lock)¢

Setting the central locking system
In the Infotainment system, you can set which
doors the central locking system will unlock .

settings> Central locking .
Door unlocking
-you can decide if All doors or
only the
Driver's door should unlock. The lug­
gage compartment lid also unlocks when
All is
selected . If you select
Driver's door in a vehicle
with a convenience key*, only the door whose
handle you pull will unlock.
If you select
Driver's door, all the doors and lug­
gage compartment lid will unlock if you press the
@ button on the remote control key twice. .,.

Lights and Vision
Interior lighting
Applies to: ve hicles w ith amb ient light ing

settings > Interior lighting.
The interior lighting turns on when you switch
the head ligh ts on while the igni tion is on .
Version 1
To adjust the brightness of individua l zones, se­
lect
Front brightness *, Door brightne ss or Foot­
w ell brightness .
Turn the control knob to the left
or to the right. Press the contro l knob to confirm
the br igh tness.
Version 2
Select and confirm one of the displayed profiles.
Individual: you can customize the brightness and
color of individual zones.
Press the right control button. Se lect and con­
fi rm one of the disp layed options. To change the
brightness or the color, turn the control knob to
the left or right . Press the control knob to con­
f irm the brightness or the color.

Instrument illumination
The brightness of the instrument and display
lighting as well as the Head-up display* can be
adjusted.

Depending on vehicle equipment, the instru­
ment illumination (needles and gauges) may
turn on when t he lig hts are off and the igni­
tion is switched o n. T he i llum ination for the
gaug es reduces automa tically and eve ntua lly
turn s off a s br igh tne ss ou tside increases. Thi s
f u nct io n remin ds the dr ive r to tur n the low
b eams on at the appropria te t ime.
Vision
Adjusting the outside mirrors

Turn the knob to the des ired position:

To keep the rear window defogger on continuous­ly, press the
Qi!) REAR button longer than 3 sec­
onds. Th is is stored until the ignition is sw itched
off.
SYNC
Synchronizat ion
Use the rocker switch ® to select the fu nct ion .
When synchronization is switched on, the set­
tings for the driver's side are applied to the front
passenger's side and the rear (except for seat
heating/ventilation*). When the settings on the
front passenger's s ide or in the rear are changed,
the synchronization is automatically sw itched off
and
3-zone appears in the display .
SET REAR
function
Use the rocker switch ® to select the funct ion.
When the function is switched on, you can adjust
all settings for the rear using the climate control
system controls in the cockpit . The rear climate
control system controls can not be operated at
the same time. This function switches off a uto­
matically after a certain period of time or after
l eav ing the menu.
Air vents
You can open or close the center and rear vents in
the cockpit and the vents in the rear center con­
sole using the ridged thumbwheels. The levers
adjust the direction of the airflow from the vents.
The wide ve nt is opened and closed using the
rocker switch ®·
Residual heat
You can activate the residual heat funct ion when
the ignition is switched off by pressing the knob
(D. The res idual heat from the coolant is used to
h eat the vehicle inte rior. The residual heat fu nc­
tion switches off automatically after about 15
minutes .
A WARNING
-You should not use the recirculation mode
for an extended period of time since no
fresh a ir is drawn in. With the air-condition­
ing switched off, the windows can fog up,
wh ic h increases the r isk of an accident.
Warm and cold
-Individuals with reduced sensit ivity to pain
or temperature could develop burns when
using the seat heating function. To reduce
the risk of injury, these individuals should
not use seat heating.
(D Note
To avoid damage to the heating elements in
the seats, do not knee l on the seats or place
heavy loads on a small area of the seat.
Basic settings
The climate control system basic settings are ac­
cessed in the Infotainment system.

Automatic recirculation
When switched on, automatic rec irculat ion con­
trols the recircu lation mode automatically . You
must press the@
MAX button if fog forms on
the windows.
Automatic auxiliary heater*
T he auxi liary heater he lps to warm the vehicle in­
terior more quickly.
Steering wheel heating
Applies to: veh icles w ith stee ring w hee l heat ing
The steering wheel rim can be heated.

This message appears if you are not steering by
yourself. Active lane assist is activated, but is not ready to give warning
Adjusting the steering time and vibration
warning
Applies to: vehicles with Audi active lane assist
You can adjust individual active lane assist set­
tings in the Infotainment system .

Steering time Early:
in this setting, the correct ive steering hap ­
pens continuously to help keep the vehicle in the
center of the lane.
Late: in this setting, the system provides correc­
tive steering just before a vehicle whee l goes over
a detected lane marker line.
Vibration warning
You can switch the additional vibration warning
in the steering wheel on or
off.
A WARNING
-
With the vibration warning switched off,
there will also be no visual warning in the in-

strument cluster disp lay when crossing a lane
marker line.

In certain countries: your settings are stored
automatica lly and assigned to the remote

Audi side assist
Description
Applies to: vehicles with Audi side assist

Side assist (lane change assist) helps you mon itor
your blind spot and traffic behind your vehicle .
Within its lim its, the system warns you about
vehicles that are coming closer or that are travel­
ing within your sensor range

Audi drive select
Introduction
Applies to: vehicles with Audi drive select
Drive se lect makes it possible to experience dif­
fe rent types of vehicle settings in one vehicle.

modes in the I nfota inme nt system to switch be­
tween , fo r exa mple, a sporty and a co mfo rtable
d riving mo de. Settings ca n be ad justed to your
p e rs o nal pr efe ren ces in
Individual m ode. This
makes it poss ible to comb ine settings su ch as a
sporty eng ine setting w ith smooth stee ring.
Descript ion
Applies to: vehicles with Audi drive select
The fo llow ing systems, among other things, are
i nfluenced by drive select:
Engine and automatic transmission
D epending on the mode, the en gine and auto­
mat ic transmission respond more quickly o r in a
mo re balanced ma nner to accelerator pe dal
movements . In the spo rty
Dynamic mode, the
transmission shifts at higher speed ranges.
Steering
The power s teering adapts. Ind irect s teer ing t hat
moves easi ly as in
comfort mode is espec ia lly
suited to long drives on highways . The
dynamic
mode p rovides sporty, d irect steering.
The fo llow ing applies to vehicles wi th dynam ic
steer ing* : the stee ring rat io chan ges base d on
ve hicle speed in or der to ma inta in optim um
steer ing effort for the drive r at all times. This
sets the steer ing to be less sensitive at higher
speeds i n order to prov ide improved vehicle con-

t ro l. At r educed spee ds, steeri ng is more direct in
o rder to kee p the steering effort as minima l as
poss ib le when the drive r is maneuvering t he vehi­
cle. Dynam ic steer ing* also p rovides more re­
spons ive steering performance at low and aver­
age speeds .
Suspension control*
The ada ptive dampers * use sensors to reco rd in ­
f ormat ion regard ing steering movements, b rak ­
ing and accele ration operations by the dr iver,
road s urface, driving speed, and load. This makes
it possible to adapt damping to the d riv in g situa­
t io n virtu ally in rea l ti me . Wi th drive select, you
can ad just th e adap tiv e dam pers to sporty
(Dy ­
nami c),
comfo rtable (Comfort ) or balan ced (Au­
to ).
Cornering light*
T he co rne ring light adapts the high beams to the
direction of the curve de pending on the speed .
T he pivo ting ac tion and the lighting also a dapt to
t h e mode.
Adaptive cruise cont rol (ACC)*
The behavio r whe n accelerati ng ca n be adjusted
from comfortable to s porty, depending on the
dr ive selec t mode . Adap tive cruise control also
r espon ds to the dr iv ing behav ior of t he vehicle
ahea d in a m ore conse rv a tive or sporty m an ner.
Engine sound*
The eng ine sound adapts to the c urrent mode
and can be subtle to sporty .

You can change the driv ing mode when the vehi­
cle is stationary or while driving . If traffic per­
mits, after changing modes, briefly take your
foot off the accelerator pedal so that the recently
selected mode is also activated for the engine.
Comfort -provides a comfort-oriented vehicle
setup and is suited for long drives on highways.
Auto -provides an overall comfortab le yet dy­
namic driving feel and is suited for everyday use.
Dynamic -gives the dr ive r a sporty driving fee l
and is suited to a sporty driving style.
