vehicle battery charged enough while driving.
If the message does not turn off , have an author­
ized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facili­
ty repair the malfunction.
~ Engine stop while driving
• Engine stopped: No power steering and
brake support.
There is a malfunction in the engine or in the fuel
supply system.
More force is needed to steer and brake the mov­
ing vehicle when the engine is stopped. If the ve­
hicle is rolling , try to bring it to a stop off to the
side from moving traffic. See an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility for as­
sistance .
A WARNING
If the engine stops while driving, you will
need to use more force to brake the vehicle.
This increases the risk of an accident . There
will still be power steering if the ignition is
switched on while the vehicle is rolling and
there is sufficient battery charge. Otherwise,
you must use greater force when steering .
~ Engine oil pressure
• Turn off engine and check oil level
Stop the engine and do not continue driving .
Check the engine oil level
Q page 203.
-If the engine oil level is too low, add engine oil
¢page 203 . Only continue driving once the in­
dicator light turns off.
- If the engine oil level is correct and the indica­
tor light still turns on, turn the engine off and
do not continue driving. See an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility for as­
sistance.
@ Tips
The oil pressure warning is not an oil level in­
dicator. Always check the oil level regularly .

lock. You cannot turn the ignition on.

not tow your vehicle because it cannot be
steered. See an authorized Audi dealer or author­
ized Audi Service Facility for assistance.

There is a malfunction in the electronic steering

Drive to an authorized Audi dealer or authorized

There is a system malfunct ion that ca n result in
restricted driving stability or reduced gro und
clearance.

malfunct ion corrected.
II Air sus pension : Vehicle is too low . Ground
clearance limited
The ground clearance is very low due to a system malfunctio n. Wait until the air suspension sys­
tem has restored norma l ground clearance. Oth­
erwise, conditions such as an uneven road surface
can lead to vehicle damage.
0 Clutch

Stop the vehicle safely . See an authorized Audi

The engine torq ue that can be transfer red is re ­
duced. You may continue driv ing. Avo id using the
clutch in any way that w ill place a heavy load on
i t. For example, do not let the clutch rub when
start ing o n hills, whe n towing a trai ler or when
maneuveri ng the vehicle . Drive to an author ized
Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Fac ility im­
med iate ly to have the malfu nction corrected.
fiB Clut ch malfunction! You may continue driv­
ing
There is a ma lfunction in the clutch. The engine
torque that can be transferred is reduced. You
may contin ue driving . Avoid using the clutch in
t h e future in any way that w ill place a heavy load
o n it. Fo r example , do no t let the clutc h ru b when
starting o n hill s, when towing a trailer or when
mane uve rin g the vehicle . The ind ic a tor light
turns off once the clutch is fully operab le ag ain.
Lt Brake booster
D Brake servo : limited functionality. You can
conti nue d riving. Conta ct w ork shop
There is a m alfu nction in the brake booster. The
bra ke booste r is ava ilable, but its effectiveness is
reduced . Braking behavior may be different from
how it normally f unctions and the bra ke pedal
may vibrate.
Drive to an au thorized A udi dealer or au thorized
Audi Se rvice Facility immediate ly to have the
malfunction corrected.
n/ u Electronic Stabilization Control (ESC)
If the G1 ind icator light blinks while driving, the
ESC or ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) is act ively regu­
lating .
If the
GJ ind icator light turns on, the system has
switched the ESC off. In t his case, yo u can switch
the ignit io n off and then on to switch the ESC on
again . T he i ndicator light t urns off when the sys ­
tem is functioning fully .

Unlike the short-term memory, the long -term
memory is not erased automatica lly. Yo u can se­
l ect the time period for evaluat ing trip informa ­
tion yourself .

Fuel consumption

p layed . If the bar is green, your vehicle is saving
fuel throug h one of the following functions:
-Re cuperation : electr ical ene rgy can be store d in
the vehicle battery when t he vehicle is coasting
or driving downhill. The bar will move toward
0 .
-Cylinder on demand system* : the engine auto­
matically switches four cylinde rs off when low­
er powe r output is required and other condi­
tions are met. This change is not noticeab le to
t h e passengers.

T he eff ic iency p rogram can help you to use less
fuel. It shows o ther cons umers th at are using
f uel and e co nomy tip s give a dvice on how to drive
efficie ntly. The eff ic ien cy pr ogr am receives dis­
tance and consumption data from the on -board
computer.
To dis play the eff icien cy p rogram, o pen the
Vehi ­
cle functions
m enu and select the Efficiency pro­
gram
menu item.
Other consumers
The Energy con sumers view lists other equip­
ment that is c urren tly affe cting f ue l cons ump­
tio n. Th e displ ay shows up to three o ther eq uip­

most power is listed first. If more than three
items using power are switched on, the equip­
ment that is current ly using the most power is
displayed.

The ins trumen t illum ina tion for the nee dles
and dials turns on when the ign ition is turned
on and the lights are turned off. The illum ina­
tion for the gauges red uces automatically and
event ually turns off as brightness outside in­
creases. This funct ion reminds the dr iver to
turn the low beams on at the appropriate
time.

Storage hooks
Applies to: vehicles with bag hooks

You can also use the hooks to hang light purses,
bags, etc .
A WARNING
The hooks can hold a maximum weight of 6.6
lbs (3 kg). Heavier objects are not adequately
secured. There is risk of personal injury.
Pass-through with ski bag
Applies to: vehicles with pass-through and ski bag
Long objects, such as skis or snowboards, con be
transported in the ski bog* .

A WARNING
- The bag is only intended for transporting
skis and other light objects. To reduce the
risk of serious injuries, never transport
heavy or sharp objects in the bag.
-After loading, the bag must be secured with
the strap.
- Make sure that all objects that you are transporting in the pass-through are secure.
They could slide around and increase the risk of injury when braking or during an acci­
dent .

- Only fold the bag up if it is dry.
- When transporting skis or snowboards,
tighten the securing strap between the
bindings.
- Lay skis in the bag with the points facing
forward and snowboards and ski pole points
facing the rear.

cal parking brake

intentiona lly and replaces the hand brake.

LED in the switch illuminates. The -(USA

so turns on in the instrument cluster display .

the same t ime . The L ED in the b utton and the

Releasing the parking brake automatically
Requirement : the driver's door must be closed,
the dr iver's safety be lt must be latched and the
pa rking brake must be set.
"' To start driving and re lease the park ing brake
automatically, press the acce lerato r peda l as
usual.
In addi tion to releasing the parking brake auto­
mat ica lly, other convenience and safety funct ions
are available when you sta rt driving ¢

Starting from a stop.
Preventing the automatic parking br ake
release
The vehicle could begin rolling uninte ntiona lly,
depending on the hill or if towing a trail er.
D rivi ng
"'To prevent the parking brake from releasi ng au­
tomatically, pull and hold the<®> switch and
press the accelerator peda l. The pa rking brake
remains set and prevents the vehicle from roll­
ing backward.
"' You can release the<®> switch again once you
are sure t hat you are giving enoug h driving
force to the wheels by press ing the accel erator
pedal.
Emergency braking function
You can use the emergency braking function in an
emergency s ituation, or if the standard brake op­
eration malfunctions or is disabled.
.. Pull and ho ld the(®) switch.
"' As soon as you release the <®> switch or acceler-
ate, the braking stops .
Pull ing and ho ld ing the© switch wh ile driving
the vehicle activates the emergency braking func­
t ion. The vehicle is braked at all four wheels by
activating the hydraulic brake system . The brak­
ing effect is sim ila r to heavy braking ¢_& .
To reduce the risk of activat ing the emergency
braking by mistake, a warning tone (buz zer)
sounds when the© switch is p ulled . Emergency
braking stops as soon as the© switc h is released
or t he accelerator pedal is pressed.
Parking
.. Press the brake pedal to stop the veh icle.
"' Pull the(®) switch to set the parking brake .
"' Place t he selector lever in t he P position .
"' Tu rn the engine off¢_& .
"' Tur n the steering w heel when par king o n in­
clines so tha t the wheels w ill roll into the curb
