All power window sw itches are eq uipped w ith a
two-stage funct ion:
Opening and closing the windows

the switch down or pu ll the switch up briefly to
the second level. The operation will stop if the
switch is pressed/pu lled again.
~ To se lect a position in between opened and
closed, press/pull the sw itch to the first level
u nt il the desired window position is reached.

A WARNING
- Always take the vehicle key wit h you when
leaving the vehicle, even fo r a short period
of time . This applies particularly w hen ch il­
dr en re ma in in the vehicl e. O th erwis e chi l­

t ric al eq uip m ent (such as power wi ndows),
Open ing and closing
which increases the risk of an acc ident. The
power windows continue to function until
the dr iver's door or front passenge r's door
has been opened .
- Pay careful attention when closing the w in­
dows . Pinch ing could ca use serio us in juries.
- When locking the vehicle from o utside, the
veh icle must be unoccup ied since the win­
d ows can no longe r be o pened in an emer­
g e ncy .
@ Tips
You can still o pen and close the windows for
approximately 10 mi nutes after tur ning t he
i gnition off . The power windows do not switch
off until the driver 's door o r front passenger 's
door has been open ed .
Convenience opening
All of the windows and the sunroof* can be
opened at once .
The settings in the Infota inment system specify
which w indows will open .
Convenience opening feature
~ Press and hold the~ button on the remote
control key until a ll of the w indows reach the
desired position and the sunroof* is tilted open.

For security reasons, the w indows and the
su nroof* can o nly be opened wit h the remote
control key at a maximum distance of a pprox­
im ately 6 fee t (2 m ) from the veh icle .

Correcting power window malfunctions
You con reactivate the one-touch up/down func­
tion if it malfunctions .
• Pull the power window switch up unt il the win­
dow is completely raised.
• Release the sw itch and pull it up again for at
least one second.
Sunroof
Description
Applies to: veh icles with slid ing/tilting sunroof

• To tilt the sunroof comp letely, press t he switch
briefly to the second level.
• To open the sunroof completely, p ull the switch
briefly to the second level

• To select an intermediate position, press/pull
the switch to the first level until the desired po­
sition is reached.
@ Openin g/sliding (ver sion 1 )
• To move the roof into the reduced wind noise
position, press the button back brief ly to the
second level. The roof will open all the way if
you press the button back to the second level
again.
• To close the sunroof completely, press the
switch forward br iefly to the second level

the switch forward/back to the first level until
the des ired position is reached .

• To open the sunroof completely, press the
switch back to just before the second level.

The sunshade can be opened and closed by hand
when the roof is closed. The sunshade opens au­
tomatically when the roof is opened.
You can sti ll operate the sliding/tilting sunroof
for about 10 minutes after the ignition is switch­
ed off. The switch is deactivated once the driver 's
or front passenger's door is opened.
A WARNING
Pay careful attention whe n clos ing the slid­
ing/tilting s unroof- otherwise serious injury
could result! A lways take the ignition key w ith
you w hen leav ing the veh icle.

Always close your slid ing/tilting sunroof when
l eav ing your vehicle. Sudden rain can cause
damage to the inter io r equipment of your ve­
h icl e, par ticu larly the elect ronic equipment.

- For information on conven ience ope ning, re­

- The sunroof will only open down to -20 °C
(-4 °F).
Sunroof power emergency closing
Applies to: vehicles with sliding/tilting sunroof
If the s unroof de tects an object in its path when
i t is closing, i t will open again automatically . In
th is case, you can close the roof with the power
emergency closing function .
• Within five seconds af ter the sunroof opens au­
tomatically, pull the sw itch un til the roof
closes.
If you let go of the switch ea rly, the sunroof w ill
open again .

- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal injury in
a sudden stop.

Objects on the rear shelf that rub against the
rear window can damage the rear window

If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the roof,
you must observe the following:
- Only a specially designed roof rack may be used
on your vehicle. These roof racks are the basis
for a complete roof rack system. Additional at ­
tachments/carrier systems are necessary to
transport luggage and sports equipment . We
recommend roof racks and attachments from
the Audi Genuine Accessories program.
- When installing the roof rack, make sure that it
is mounted only at the designated points on
the roof
c> fig . 65 .
- The permissible roof load for your vehicle is
220 lbs (100 kg). The roof load is the total of
the weight of the roof rack, the attachments
and the cargo you are carrying . However, you
must also note the permitted load of the carri­
er system being used. For the permitted axle
load and the permitted total vehicle weight, re­
fer to
c> page 255.
Seats and storage
A WARNING
--Follow the installation instructions provided
with the roof rack system. If you do not se­ cure the roof rack system and objects on the
roof correctly, they could come loose from
the vehicle and cause an accident.
- Using a roof rack system increases the r isk
of an accident, because it changes the driv­
ing characteristics by shifting the center of
gravity and/or the increasing the surface
area exposed to wind. Adapt your driving
and speed to the current cond itions.

Make sure that the luggage compartment lid
and the sunroof* do not come into contact
with objects on the roof when they are open.

Your vehicle will require more fuel due to the
increased wind resistance. So remove the roof
rack after using it.

Warm and cold
Climate control system
Description
The climate control system warms, cools and re­ moves humidity from the air in the vehicle interi­
or. It is the most effective when the windows and
sunroof * are closed. If there is a bui ld-up of heat
insid e the vehicle, ventilation can he lp to speed
up the cooling process.
I n all heating mode f unctions, except for defrost,
the blower only switches to a higher speed once
the engine coolant has reach ed a suffici ent tem­
perature .
Pollutant filt er
The po llutant filter removes poll utants such as
dust and pollen from the a ir .
Ke y recognit ion

The blower sett ing and air distribut ion are stored
automatically and ass igned to the remote control
key that you are using.

stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use.
A WARNING
Poor visibility can lead to accidents.
- For safer driving, keep all windows free of
ice, snow and fog .
- Become familiar as quickly as possible with the correct use and function of the cl imate
contro l system, especially with the defrost­
ing and defogg ing function.
- When the temperat ure is below freezing,
only use the windsh ield washer system after

the windshield has been warmed by the cli­
mate control system. The washer fluid could
freeze on the windshie ld and impair visibi li­
ty .

tem is damaged, switch the system
off to
prevent further damage and have it checked
by an authorized Aud i dealer or authorized
Audi Service Facility .
- Repa irs to the Aud i climate control system

@ For the sake of the environment
- To save fuel, turn off cooling mode by press ­
ing the
IAJC I button. This w ill also reduce
em issions .
- In veh icles w ith a diesel engine, you ca n
switch the auto supplementary heater off in
the Infotainment system.
(D Tips
- To prevent interference with the heat ing
and cooling output and to prevent the win­
dows from fogging over, the a ir intake in
front of the windshie ld must be free of ice ,
snow or leaves.
- Conde nsation from the coo ling system can
dr ip and fo rm a pudd le of water under the
vehicle. This is norma l and does not mean
there is a leak.
- Th e energy managemen t sys tem may tem­
porarily switch
off certain functions, such as
t h e seat heating * or rear window defogger.
These systems are ava ilable again as soon
as the ene rgy supply has been restored.

Applies to: ve hicles with Audi pre sense
Pre sense can initiate steps to protect vehicle oc­
cupants in certain dangerous situations. The
functions described are available depending on
veh icle equ ipment:
P re sen se basi c*
T he following functions can be triggered in cer­
tain driving situations:
- Tensioning of the safety belts (for example,
during heavy braking) : the front safety belts
have reversible belt tensioners. If a collision
does not occur, the safety belts loosen slightly
and are ready to trigger again .
- Closing the w indows and the sunroof* (for ex­
ample, when over- or understeer ing) : the win­
dows and the sunroof* close until there is only
a small gap open .
The function of the pre sense basic is act ivated at
a speed of 20 mph (30 km/h) or higher .
Drive se lect: the deployment time is adapted in
D yna mic mode .
Pre sense f ront (v e hi cles with adaptiv e cruis e
contr ol*)
Pre sense front contains the functions of pre
sense basic . In addition, the likelihood of a rear ­
end collision with the vehicle ahead is also calcu­
lated, within the limits of the system. If the risk
of a collision is detected, the following functions
can trigger:
- Braking guard

- Tensioning of the safety belts
- Closing the windows and the sunroof*
Pre s ense rear (vehicles with side assi st* )
Pre sense rear contains the functions of pre sense
bas ic. In addit ion, the l ikel ihood of a rear-end
coll is ion from the vehicle behind is a lso ca lculat­
ed, w ithin the limits of the system. If the risk of a
collision is detected, the following functions can
trigger:

- Tensioning of the safety belts
- Closing the windows and the sunroof*
Pr e sense p lus*
Pre sense plus contains the functions of pre
sense front and pre sense rear .

Preventative passenger protection is not availa­
ble. Drive to your authorized Audi dealer or au­
thorized Audi Service Facility immediat ely to have
the malfunction corrected.
A WARNING
=
Pre sense cannot overcome natural phys ica l
laws. It is a system designed to assist and it
cannot prevent a collision . Do not let the in­
creased safety provided tempt you into tak ing
r isks. This could inc rease your risk of a colli­
sion.
- The system can dep loy incorrectly .
- Please note that the sensors do not always
detect a ll objects . T hi s increases the r isk of
a co llision.
- Pre sense does not react to people or ani­
mals or objects that are cross ing the vehi­
cle's path o r are diffic ult to detect

- Reflective objects such as guard ra ils or the
entrance to a tunnel, heavy rain and ice can
affect the funct ion of the rada r senso rs and
the system's ability to de tect a co llision risk.
(D Note
The sensors can be d isplaced by impacts or
damage to the bumper, wheel housing and
u nderbody. Pre sense can be impaired by this .
Have an authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Audi Service Facility check their function .
