There is a malfunction with the windshield wip­
ers.
Drive to your authorized Audi dealer immediately
to have the malfunction corrected.
~I }D10$ Defective light bulb warning
If the S:I indicator light turns on, a bulb has
failed. The message indicates the location of the
bulb.
- If the Im indicator light also turns on, then a
fog light has failed. The position of the indica­
tor light corresponds with the location on the
vehicle.
- If the II indicator light also turns on, then a
rear fog* light has failed. The position of the in­
dicator light corresponds with the location on
the vehicle.
This warning can also occur if the light switch is
in an unengaged position between two symbols.
Vehicle lights: System fault!
If the message appears, there is a malfunction in
the headlights or light switch.
Drive to your authorized Audi dealer immediately
to have the malfunction corrected.
Instruments and indicator lights
A WARNING
-Light bulbs are pressurized and could ex­
plode while they are being changed causing
serious personal injury.
-
- Work with due care when handling the high­
voltage section of gas discharge (xenon)
lights*. Failure to do so could result in death
or serious injury.
@ Tips
Have the bulb replaced or the connection re­
paired by your authorized Audi Service depart­
ment.

If the symbol II illuminates, the dynamic head­
light range control is no longer working properly.
Have the system checked and repaired at your au­
thorized Audi dealer.

If the indicator light turns on and this message
appears, there is a malfunction in the adaptive
light system. The headlights still function.
Go to an authorized dealership to have the head­
lights or the control unit for the adaptive light re­
paired.

If the indicator light turns on and this message
appears, the light/rain sensor is not functioning
correctly.

-If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush them
thoroughly with large amounts of clean wa­
ter for at least 15 minutes; med ical atten­
t ion is recommended .
- If electrolyte contacts skin, flush affected
area with clean water for at least 15 mi­ nutes and then wash affected area w ith
soap and water; medical attention is recom­
mended. Thoroughly wash affected clothing
and shoes before reuse.
- If swallowed and person is conscious, rinse mouth with water for at least 15 m inutes.

-Switch ing off the dimming f unction of the
i nside rear v iew mirror also deactivates the
automatic dimming function of the exterior
mirrors.
- Automat ic dimming for the mirror on ly op­
erates properly if the light striking the in­
s ide mirror is not hindered by other objects.
- The automatic dimming mirrors do not dim
when the interior lighting is turned on or
the reverse gear is selected.

The sun visors for the driver and passenger can
be pulled out of their brackets in the center of
the vehicle and turned towards the doors(!).

Move the windshield wiper lever to the corre­
sponding position:
@ -Windshield wiper off
(!) -Interval mode. To extend/shorten the w iper
in tervals, move the switch @to the left/right. In
vehicles with a rain sensor* the wipers tu rn on in
the rain once the vehicle speed exceeds approxi­ mately 2 mph (4 km/h) . The higher the sensitivi ­
ty of the rain sensor* is set (switch @to the
right), the earlier the windshield wipers react to
moisture on the w indshield. In some models, you
can switch ra in sensor mode off and switch inter­
mittent mode on in the MM I* . Select :

the afterwipe operation . The afterwipe function
is reactivated the next time the ignition is switch­
ed on.
Clean ing the headlights*. The headlight washer
system* operates on ly when the headlights are
on. If you move the lever to position @, the
headlights are washed in intervals .
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only intended to assist the
dr iver. The driver is still responsib le for
ma nually switching the wipers o n accord ing
to the v is ibility conditions.
- The w indshield may not be treated with wa­
ter-repelling windsh ield coating agents . Un­
favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark­ ness, low sun, can result in increased glare.
Wiper b lade chatter is also possible.

blades are required for a clear view and safe

- In the case of frost, check whethe r th e
windsh ie ld wiper b lades are froze n to the
windsh ield. Sw itching on the winds hield
wipers can damage the wiper blades!
- Prior to using a ca r w ash, the win dshi eld
wiper system m ust be switched o ff (lever in
pos ition @). This helps to p revent uninten­
tiona l switching on and damage to the
windshie ld wiper system .
@ Tips
-The windshield wipers are switched off
when the ignition is turned off. Activate the
windsh ie ld wipers after the ign ition is
switched back on by moving the windsh ield
wiper leve r to any pos it ion.
- Wo rn or dirty windshield wiper blades result
i n streak ing. This can affect the ra in sensor*
funct ion. Check your windshield wiper
blades regularly .
- The washe r fluid nozzles of the windshield
washer system are heated at low tempera­
tures when the ignition is on .

-When stopping temporari ly, (e.g. at a traf­
fic light) the set speed of the windshield
wipers is automatically reduced by one
speed.
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the windshie ld w iper blades when they be­
gin to leave streaks. Use a soft cloth and glass
cleaner to clean t he windsh ie ld w iper blades .

The w inds hield wipers would move back in­
to their orig inal posi tion and cou ld damage
t h e hood and windshield.
- To hel p prevent d amage t o th e wiper sys ­
tem, always loosen blades which are frozen
to the windshie ld befo re operating wipers .
- To hel p preve nt d amage to wiper blades, do
not use gasoline, kerosene, pain t thinner, o r
other solvents on or nea r th e wiper blades .
- To he lp preve nt damage to t he wiper arms
or othe r compo nents, do not a ttempt to
move the wipers by hand .

- Commercia l hot waxes applied by automatic
car washes affect the how easily the glass
surface can be cleaned.
- Yo u ca n also use the service posit io n, for ex­
ample, if you want to protect the windshield
from icing by using a cover .

Care and cleaning
General information
Regular, prope r care helps to maintain your vehi ­
cle's value.
It can a lso be a requirement when
submitting war ranty claims for cor rosion damage
and pa int defects on the body.
The necessary care prod ucts can be obtained
from an autho rized Audi deale r or authorized
Aud i Service Facility. Read and follow the instruc­
tions for use on the packaging.
A WARNING
- Using clean ing and care products incorrectly
can be dangero us to your hea lth .
- Always store clean ing and care products out
of reach of children to reduce the r isk of po i­
so ning.
@ For the sake of the environment
- P referab ly purchase env ironmenta lly-friend­
l y cleaning products.
- Do not dispose of leftove r clean ing and care
products wit h household t rash.
Car washes
The longer that deposits remain on the veh icle,
the more the surface may be damaged. High
temperatures such as those caused by sunlight
increase the damaging effect.
Before washing, rinse
off heavy depos its with
p lenty of water.
Stubborn deposits s uch as bird d roppings or tree
sap are best removed with plenty of water and a mic rofibe r cloth.
A lso, wash the und erside of yo ur vehicle o nce
road sa lt stops being used for the season .
Pressure washers
When washing your veh icle w ith a pressure wash­
er, always follow the operating instructions pro ­
vided wi th the press ure washer. This is espe cially
impor tant i n rega rd to the pressure and spraying
d istance. Do not direct the stream of water di­
rectly onto seals for the side windows, doors,

lu ggage compartment lid or hood or onto the
tires, rubber hoses, insulating material, the pow­
er top, sensors* or camera lenses* . Keep a dis­
tance of at least 16 inches (40 cm).
Do not remove snow and ice with a pressure
washer.
Neve r use cone nozzles or high press ure nozzles.
The wate r temperatu re must not be above 140 °F
(60 °() .
Automatic car washes
Spray off the vehicle before washing.
Make sure that the win dows and power top are
closed and the windsh ield wipers are off. Follow
i nst ruct ions from the car wash operator, espe­
c ia lly if there are accessories attached to yo ur ve­
hicle.
If possible, use car washes that do not have
brushes.
Washing by hand
Clean th e ve hicle star ting from the top and work­
i ng down using a soft sponge or clea ning brus h.
Use solvent -free cleaning products.
Washing vehicles with matte finish paint by
hand
To avo id damaging the paint when washing, fi rst
remove dust and large pa rticles from your vehi­
cle. Insects, grease spots and f ingerprints are
best removed w ith a special cleaner for matte
finish paint.
Apply t he product using a microf iber cloth. To
avo id damaging the paint surface, do not use too
much pressure.
Rinse the ve hicle thoroughly with wate r. Then
clean using a neutra l shampoo and a soft micro ­
fiber clot h.
Rinse the vehicl e thorough ly again and le t i t air
d ry. Remove any water residue using a chamois.
A WARNING
- Only wash the vehicle when the ignition is
off and follow the instr uctions from the car

Releasing and opening the engine hood
The engine hood is released from inside the vehi­
cle.

Before opening the engine hood, make sure that
the windshield wipers are flat against the wind­
shield. Otherwise, they could damage the paint
on the hood.

Hot engine coolant can burn you.
- To reduce the risk of being burned, never
open the hood if you see or hear steam or
coolant escaping from the engine compart­
ment. Wait until no steam or coolant can be

Closing the engine hood
.. Pull the hood down until the pressure from the
struts is reduced.

A WARNING
A hood that is not completely latched could
fly up and block your view while driving.
- When you close the engine hood, check it to
make sure the safety catch has properly en­
gaged. The hood should be flush with the
surrounding vehicle body parts.
- If you notice while driving that the hood is
not secured properly, stop at once and close
it.
Working in the engine compartment
Be especially careful whenever you work in the
engine compartment.

Whenever you must perform any work in the
engine compartment, for example checking and
filling different fluids, there is a risk of injury, burns and accidents. To prevent personal injury
always observe the following WARNINGS. The
engine compartment of any vehicle is a hazard­
ous area

To help avoid injury, before you check any­
thing under the hood:
- Turn off the engine.
- Remove the ignition key .
- Apply the parking brake.
- Move selector lever of automatic transmis-
sion to "P" (Park).
-Always let the engine cool down. Hot com­
ponents will burn skin on contact.
