Before towing, switch off the steering
lock (see “Starting device” paragraph in
the “Knowing your car” section). The power
brakes and power steering will not operate
while the vehicle is being towed. More effort on
the brake pedal and steering wheel will
therefore be required. Do not use flexible cables
when towing and avoid jerky movements. While
towing, make sure not to damage parts in
contact with the car. Respect the rules of the
highway code when towing the car, specifically
in relation to the towing device and road
conduct.
WARNING
The front and rear tow hooks should be
used only for emergency operations on
the road. You are allowed to tow the car for
short distances using an appropriate device in
accordance with the highway code (a rigid bar),
to move the vehicle on the road in readiness for
towing or transporting via a breakdown vehicle.
Tow hooks MUST NOT be used to tow vehicles
off the road or where there are obstacles and/or
for towing operations using cables or other non-
rigid devices. Respecting the above conditions,
towing must take place with the two vehicles
(one towing, the other towed) aligned as much
as possible along the same centre line.

HEAVY USAGE OF THE CAR
Should the car be used predominantly in one of the
following particularly demanding conditions:
❒dusty roads;
❒short distances (less than 7-8 km) and with external
temperatures below zero;
❒frequently idling engine or long distance low speed
driving (e. g. taxis or door-to-door deliveries) or in
the case of long term inactivity;
❒in cities;
perform the following inspections more frequently than
shown on the Scheduled Servicing Plan:
❒check front disc brake pad conditions and wear;
❒check cleanliness of bonnet and boot locks and
linkage cleanliness and lubrication;
❒visually inspect the conditions of: engine, gearbox,
transmission, pipes and hoses (exhaust – fuel
– brakes), rubber parts (boots, sleeves, bushes, etc.);
❒check battery charge and liquid level (electrolyte);
❒visually inspect condition of accessory drive belts;
❒check pollen filter and replace it, if required;
❒check air filter and replace, if required.
PERIODIC CHECKS
Every 1,000 km or before long journeys, check and, if
necessary, top up the following:

WHEEL/GEAR LEVER KNOB
These components must be cleaned with mild soap and
water only.
Never use alcohol and/or alcohol-based products.
Before using off-the-shelf products designed for cleaning
vehicle interiors, make sure that they do not contain
alcohol and/or alcohol-based substances.
If window cleaner accidentally drips onto the steering
wheel or gear lever knob, wipe away immediately and
then wash the affected area with mild soap and water.
IMPORTANT Be careful when using a steering wheel
lock device, where applicable, to prevent damaging the

RADIO
ANTI-THEFT PROTECTION
The radio is equipped with an anti-theft protection
system based on the exchange of information between
the radio and the electronic control unit (Body
Computer) present on the car.
This system guarantees maximum safety and prevents
the secret code from being entered each time the radio
power supply is disconnected.
If the check has a positive outcome, the radio will start
to function, whereas if the comparison codes are not the
same or if the electronic control unit (Body Computer)
is replaced, the device will ask the user to enter the
secret code according to the procedure described in the
paragraph below.
Entering the password
When the radio is switched on, if the password is
requested, the display will show
“Radio code” for about 2 seconds followed by four
dashes “----”.
The secret code is made up of four digits from 1 to 6,
each corresponding to one of the dashes.
To enter the first digit of the code, press the button
corresponding to the pre-selected stations (from 1 to 6).
Enter the other code digits in the same way.If the four digits are not entered within 20 seconds, the
display will show “Enter code ----”. If this occurs, it is not
considered an incorrect code entry.
After entering the fourth digit (within 20 seconds), the
car radio will work.
If an incorrect code is entered, the radio will emit a
sound and the display shows the text “Radio
blocked/wait” to notify the user of the need to enter the
correct code.
Each time the user enters an incorrect code, the waiting
time gradually increases (1 min, 2 min, 4 min, 8 min,
16 min, 30 min, 1h, 2h, 4h, 8h, 16h, 24h) to a maximum
of 24 hours. The waiting time will be shown on the
display with the text “Radio blocked/wait”. After the text
has disappeared it is possible to start the code entering
procedure again.
Car radio passport
This document certifies ownership of the car radio. The
car radio passport shows the radio model, serial number
and secret code.
IMPORTANT Keep the car radio passport somewhere safe
so that the authorities can be supplied with the relevant
information if the radio is stolen.
In case of loss of the car radio passport, contact the
Dealership Abarth taking your ID and the car ownership
documents
.
