When trouble arises
*1: Brake system warning buzzer:
When there is a possible problem that could affect braking performance,
the warning light will come on and a warning buzzer will sound.
Parking brake engaged warning buzzer:
A buzzer will sound if the vehicle is driven at a speed of approximately 3
mph (5 km/h) or more.
*2: Open door warning buzzer:
The open door warning buzzer sounds to alert one or more of the doors is
not fully closed (with the vehicle having reached a speed of 3 mph [5 km/h]).
*3: Seat belt buzzer:
The seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the driver and/or front pas-
senger that their seat belts are not fastened. If the driver’s seat belt is not
fastened, the buzzer will sound for 6 seconds once the power switch is
turned to ON mode. If the vehicle reaches a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h),
the buzzer will sound once. If the seat belt is still unfastened after 30 sec-
onds, the buzzer will sound intermittently for 10 seconds. Then, if the seat
belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 20 more
seconds.
Tire pressure warning light
When the light comes on:
Low tire inflation pressure such as
• Natural causes (P. 497)
• Flat tire (P. 521)
Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified
level.
The light will turn off after a few minutes. In case
the light does not turn off even if the tire inflation
pressure is adjusted, have the system checked by
your Toyota dealer.
When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute:
Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system

Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.

• The hybrid system may not be able to start.
• The parking lock mechanism may not func-
tion. When parking, choose a level location
and apply the parking brake securely.
• The power switch may not be able to be
turned off. In this case, the power switch
may be turned off by applying the parking
brake.
Shift control system malfunction
A buzzer also sounds.
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer immediately. If not inspected, vehi-
cle systems may stop operating normally.
Shift control system communication malfunction
A buzzer also sounds.
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer.
• The hybrid system may not be able to start.
• May not be switched to the P position.
When parking, choose a level location and
apply the parking brake securely.
• The automatically P position selection func-
tion (P. 184) may not function. Before
turning the power switch off, securely press
the P position switch, and be sure to check
that the shift position is in P by verifying the
shift position or P position switch operation
indicator lights.
• The power switch may not be able to be
turned off. In this case, the power switch
may be turned off by applying the parking
brake.
