lFlathead screwdriver
l Small flathead screwdriver
l Lithium battery CR2016 (vehicles without a smart key system), or
CR2032 (vehicles with a smart key system)
Vehicles without a smart key system
Remove the cover.
To prevent damage to the key,
cover the tip of the screwdriver with
a rag.
To prevent the buttons from being
disassembled, face the button sur-
face downward.
Remove the module.

: If equipped
Replace the battery with a new one if it is depleted.
You will need the following items:

Open the case cover using a
coin protected with tape etc.
and remove the depleted bat-
tery using a small flathead
screwdriver.
Insert a new battery with the “+”
terminal facing up.
Vehicles with a smart key system
Take out the mechanical key.
Remove the cover.
To prevent damage to the key,
cover the tip of the screwdriver with
a rag.
Remove the depleted battery.
Insert a new battery with the “+”
terminal facing up.

nUse a CR2016 (vehicles without a sm art key system) or CR2032 (vehicles
with a smart key system) lithium battery
l Batteries can be purchased at your Toyota dealer, local electrical appliance
shops or camera stores.
l Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manu-
facturer.
l Dispose of used batteries according to local laws.
n If the key battery is depleted
The following symptoms may occur:
lThe smart key system (if equipped) and wireless remote control will not
function properly.
l The operational range will be reduced.
CAUTION
n Removed battery and other parts
These parts are small and if swallowed by a child, they can cause choking.
Keep away from children. Failure to do so could result in death or serious
injury.
NOTICE
nFor normal operation after replacing the battery
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidents:
lAlways work with dry hands.
Moisture may cause the battery to rust.
l Do not touch or move any other component inside the remote control.
l Do not bend either of the battery terminals.

Press the switch.
All the turn signal lights will flash.
To turn them off, press the switch
once again.
nEmergency flashers
If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the engine is not
operating, the battery may discharge.
Emergency flashers
The emergency flashers are used to warn other drivers when the
vehicle has to be stopped in th e road due to a breakdown, etc.

was pressed, the electronic key could not be
detected in the vehicle.
• The electronic key could not be detected in the vehicle even after the engine switch was
pressed two consecutive times.

brake pedal.

When a tire is replaced with a spare tire (vehicles with a tire pressure
warning system)
The compact spare tire is not equipped with a tire pressure warning valve
and transmitter. If a tire goes flat,
the tire pressure warning light will not
turn off even though the flat tire has been replaced with the spare tire.
Replace the spare tire with the repaired tire and adjust the tire inflation
pressure. The tire pressu re warning light will go off after a few minutes.
nConditions that the tire pressure warning system may not function
properly (vehicles with a tire pressure warning system)
The tire pressure warning system will be disabled in the following condi-
tions:
(When the condition be comes normal, the system will work properly.)
lIf tires not equipped with tire pressure warning valves and transmitters
are used
lIf the ID code on the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters is not
registered in the tire pressure warning computer
lIf the tire inflation pressure is 73 psi (500 kPa, 5.1 kgf/cm2 or bar) or
higher
The tire pressure warning system may be disabled in the following condi-
tions:
(When the condition be comes normal, the system will work properly.)
lIf electronic devices or facilities using similar radio wave frequencies are
nearby
lIf a radio set at similar frequency is in use in the vehicle
lIf a window tint that affects the radio wave signals is installed
lIf there is a lot of snow or ice on th e vehicle, in particular around the
wheels or wheel housings
lIf non-genuine Toyota wheels are used (Even if you use Toyota wheels,
the tire pressure warning system may not work properly with some types
of tires.)
lIf tire chains are used
nIf the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking
for 1 minute (vehicles with a tire pressure warning system)
If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1
minute when the engine switch is turned on, have it checked by your
Toyota dealer.
n Warning buzzer
In some cases, the buzzer may not be heard because of noisy place or an
audio sound.
n Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
When the battery charge becomes insufficient or the voltage temporarily
drops, the electric power steering system warning light may come on and the
warning buzzer may sound.
