Displays and operation
Instrument cluster lighting
The lighting in th einstrumen tcluster, in th edis-
plays and th econtrol sin th evehicl einterior can
be adjusted usin gbrightness control knob :.
XTurn brightness control knob :up or down .
If you tur nth eligh tswitch (Ypage 118) to th e
T, ÃorL position ,th ebrightness
will depend upon th ebrightness of th eambi -
en tlight.
iThe ligh tsensor in th einstrumen tcluste r
automatically control sth ebrightness of th e
multifunction display.
In daylight, th edisplays in th einstrumen t
cluste rare illuminated. Adimming function is
no tpossibl ein daylight.
Speedometer with segments
The speedometer is divided int osegments on
Mercedes-AM Gvehicles or vehicles wit h
DISTRONI CPLUS.
The segments in th espeedometer indicat e
whic hspee drange is available.

Head-up display
General notes
The head-up display projects information from
the navigation system and the driver assistance
system above the dashboard into the driver's
field of vision.
A requirement for the display of the contents is
that the following functions are available in the
vehicle and are switched on:
RCruise control
RDISTRONIC PLUS
RTraffic Sign Assist
RNavigation
The head-up display allows the driver to see all
of the information without having to take his
eyes off the road.
Important safety notes
The head-up display is only an aid and is not a
substitute for attentive driving.
The visibility of the head-up display is influenced by the following conditions:
Rthe driver's seat position
Rthe positioning of the display image
Rthe general ambient light
Rsunglasses with polarization filters
Rwet roads
Rblocking of sunlight by objects on the display
cover
In the event of extreme sunlight, sections of the
display may fade. This can be reversed by
switching the head-up display off and on again.
iVehicles with the head-up display are equip-
ped with a special windshield. Should repairs
be necessary, have the windshield replaced at
a qualified specialist workshop.

Changing the media source
You can change the media source and playback
mode (audio or video) at any time in the Media
menu.

to open the menu list.

select the Mediamenu.
XConfirm by pressing aon the steering
wheel.

Telephone menu
Introduction
GWARNING
If you operate information systems and com-
munication equipment integrated in the vehi-
cle while driving, you will be distracted from
traffic conditions. You could also lose control
of the vehicle. There is a risk of an accident.
Only operate the equipment when the traffic
situation permits. If you are not sure that this
is possible, park the vehicle paying attention
to traffic conditions and operate the equip-
ment when the vehicle is stationary.
When telephoning, you must observe the legal
requirements for the country in which you are
currently driving.
XSwitch on the mobile phone (see the manu-
facturer’s operating instructions).
XSwitch on the multimedia system (see sepa-
rate operating instructions).
XEstablish a Bluetooth®connection to Audio
20 or COMAND, see the separate operating
instructions.
XPress the òbutton on the steering wheel
to open the menu list.
XPress :or9 on the steering wheel to
select the Telephonemenu.
XConfirm by pressing aon the steering
wheel.
You will see one of the following display mes-
sages in the multifunction display:
RPhone READYor the name of the network
provider: the mobile phone has found a net-
work and is ready to receive.
RPhone No Service: there is no network
available or the mobile phone is searching for
a network.
Accepting a call
If someone calls you when you are in the Tele‐phonemenu, a display message appears in the
multifunction display.
You can accept a call at any time, even if you are
not in the Telephone
menu.
XPress the6button on the steering wheel
to accept an incoming call.
Rejecting or ending a call
You can end or reject a call at any time even if
you are not in the Telephonemenu.
XPress the~button on the steering wheel
to reject or end a call.
Selecting an entry in the phone book
XPress the òbutton on the steering wheel
to open the menu list.
XPress the :or9 button on the steering
wheel to select the Telephonemenu.
XConfirm by pressing aon the steering
wheel.
XPress the :,9ora button to
switch to the phone book.
XUsing :or9, select the names one
after the other.
or
XTo start rapid scrolling: press and hold:
or 9 for longer than one second.
The names in the phone book are displayed
quickly one after the other.
If you press and hold the :or9 button
for longer than five seconds, the name
appears with the next or previous letter initial
letter in the alphabet.
Rapid scrolling stops when you release the
button or reach the end of the list.
XIf only one telephone number is stored for
a name: press the 6ora button to
start dialing.
