INDICATOR LIGHTS

mation display” in this section.
Approaching Vehicle Soundfor Pedestrians (VSP) OFF
indicator light
This light comes on if there is a malfunction in the
Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians
(VSP) system.
EV indicator light
This illuminates when the engine stops but the
vehicle is running.
Front fog light indicator light
The front fog light indicator light illuminates when
the front fog lights are ON. For additional infor-
mation, refer to “Fog light switch” in this section.
Front passenger air bag statuslight
The front passenger air bag status light will be lit
and the passenger front air bag will be OFF
depending on how the front passenger seat is
being used. For additional information, refer to “Front passen-
ger air bag and status light” in the “Safety —
Seats, seat belts and supplemental restraint sys-
tem” section of this manual.
High beam indicator light
(blue)
This blue light comes on when the headlight high
beams are on and goes out when the low beams
are selected.
The high beam indicator light also comes on
when the passing signal is activated.
Low temperature indicatorlight (blue)
The low temperature indicator light illuminates
when the engine coolant temperature is low.
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON
position, the low temperature indicator light illu-
minates and then turns off after the engine cool-
ant has warmed up.
If the low temperature indicator light stays illumi-
nated after the engine has sufficiently warmed
up, it may indicate the low temperature sensor in
the engine coolant system is not functioning
properly and may need servicing. It is recom-
mended that you have the system checked, and if
necessary repaired. It is recommended that you
visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
Malfunction Indicator Light(MIL)
If this indicator light comes on steady or blinks
while the engine is running, it may indicate a
potential emission control malfunction.
The MIL may also come on steady if the fuel-filler
cap is loose or missing, or if the vehicle runs out
of fuel. Check to make sure the fuel-filler cap is
installed and closed tightly, and that the vehicle
has at least 3 gal (11.4 L) of fuel in the fuel tank.
After a few driving trips, the
light should
turn off if no other potential emission control
system malfunction exists.
If this indicator light comes on steady for 20 sec-
onds and then blinks for 10 seconds when the
engine is not running, it indicates that the vehicle
is not ready for an emission control system
inspection/maintenance test. For additional infor-
mation, refer to “Readiness for
inspection/maintenance (I/M) test” in the “Tech-
nical and consumer information” section of this
manual.

NOTE:
Autolight activation sensitivity and the time
delay for autolight shutoff can be adjusted.
For additional information, refer to “Ve-
hicle information display” in this section.
To turn on the autolight system:● Turn the headlight switch to the AUTO posi-
tion
1.
● Turn the ignition switch to ON.
● The autolight system automatically turns the
headlights on and off.
Initially, if the ignition switch is turned off and a
door is opened and left open, the headlights
remain on for a period of time. If another door is
opened while the headlights are on, then the
timer is reset.
To turn the autolight system off, turn the switch to
the OFF,
,orposition. Be sure you do not put anything on top of
the autolight sensor located in the top side
1of the instrument panel. The autolight
sensor controls the autolight; if it is cov-
ered, the autolight sensor reacts as if it is
dark out and the headlights will illuminate.
If this occurs while parked with the engine
off and the ignition switch placed in the ON
position, your vehicle’s battery could be-
come discharged.
Headlight beam select
1To select the high beam function, push the
lever forward. The high beam lights come on
and the
light illuminates.
2Pull the lever back to select the low beam.
3Pulling and releasing the lever flashes the
headlight high beams on and off.
Battery saver system
If the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position
while the headlight switch is in the
orposition, the headlights will turn off after
a period of time.

Lane change signal
2Move the lever up or down until the turn
signal begins to flash, but the lever does not
latch, to signal a lane change. Hold the lever
until the lane change is completed.
Move the lever up or down until the turn
signal begins to flash, but the lever does not
latch, and release the lever. The turn signal
will automatically flash three times.
Choose the appropriate method to signal a lane
change based on road and traffic conditions.
FOG LIGHT SWITCH
To turn the fog lights on, turn the headlight switch
to the
position, then turn the fog light
switch to the
position.
To turn the fog lights on with the headlight switch
in the AUTO position, the headlights must be on,
then turn the fog light switch to the
posi-
tion.
To turn the fog lights off, turn the fog light switch
to the OFF position.
The headlights must be on and the low beams
selected for the fog lights to operate. The fog
lights automatically turn off when the high beam
headlights are selected. To sound the horn, push near the horn icon on the
steering wheel.
WARNING
Do not disassemble the horn. Doing so
could affect proper operation of the
supplemental front air bag system. Tam-
pering with the supplemental front air bag
system may result in serious personal
injury.

BCI SYSTEM LIMITATIONSWARNING

tions for proper use of the BCI system
could result in serious injury or death.●
Always check surroundings and turn to
check what is behind you before back-
ing up. The radar sensors detect ap-
proaching (moving) vehicles. The radar
sensors cannot detect every object such
as:
– Pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, animals or child operated toy
vehicles
– A vehicle that is passing at speeds greater than approximately 15 mph
(24 km/h)
● The radar sensors may not detect ap-
proaching vehicles in certain situations:
– Illustration a: When a vehicle parked next to you obstructs the beam of the
radar sensor.
– Illustration b: When the vehicle is parked in an angled parking space.
– Illustration c: When the vehicle is parked on inclined ground.
– Illustration d: When an approaching vehicle turns into your vehicle’s park-
ing lot aisle.

the RCTA system. Failure to operate the
vehicle in accordance with these system
limitations could result in serious injury or
death.
●Always check surroundings and turn to
check what is behind you before back-
ing up. The radar sensors detect ap-
proaching (moving) vehicles. The radar
sensors cannot detect every object such
as:
– Pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, animals or child-operated toy
vehicles
– A vehicle that is passing at speeds greater than approximately 19 mph
(30 km/h)
– A vehicle that is passing at speeds lower than approximately 5 mph
(8 km/h)
● The radar sensors may not detect ap-
proaching vehicles in certain situations:
– Illustration a: When a vehicle parked next to you obstructs the beam of the
radar sensor. – Illustration b: When the vehicle is
parked in an angled parking space.
– Illustration c: When the vehicle is parked on inclined ground.
– Illustration d: When an approaching vehicle turns into your vehicle’s park-
ing lot aisle.
– Illustration e: When the angle formed by your vehicle and approaching ve-
hicle is small
● The following conditions may reduce
the ability of the radar to detect other
vehicles:
– Severe weather
– Road spray
– Ice/frost/snow build-up on the vehicle
– Dirt build- up on the vehicle
● Do not attach stickers (including trans-
parent material) , install accessories or
apply additional paint near the radar
sensors. These conditions may reduce
the ability of the radar to detect other
vehicles ●
Excessive noise (e.g. audio system vol-
ume, open vehicle window) will inter-
fere with the chime sound, and it may
not be heard.

SYSTEM OPERATION
The PFEB system operates when vehicle speed
is within the range of approximately 5 to 50 mph
(10 to 80 km/h).
(The system will not activate for a stationary ve-
hicle or a pedestrian when the vehicle is driven at
speeds faster than approximately 37 mph
(60 km/h).)
If a risk of a forward collision is detected, the
PFEB system will provide the first warning to the
driver by flashing the warning light, providing an
audible warning and applying partial braking.
If the driver’s collision avoidance operation is not
sufficient and the risk of collision is increased, the
system issues the second visual warning and
audible warning, and applies harder braking im-
mediately before the collision.
NOTE:
The vehicle’s stop lights come on when
braking is performed by the PFEB system.
Depending on vehicle speed and distance to the
vehicle ahead or pedestrian, as well as driving
and roadway conditions, the system may help the
driver avoid a forward collision or may help miti-
gate the consequences if a collision should one
be unavoidable.If the driver is handling the steering wheel, accel-
erating or braking, the PFEB system will function
later or will not function.
The automatic braking will cease under the fol-
lowing conditions:
● When the steering wheel is turned as far as
necessary to avoid a collision.
● When the accelerator pedal is depressed.
● When there is no longer a vehicle or a pe-
destrian detected ahead.
If the PFEB system has stopped the vehicle, the
vehicle will remain at a standstill for approximately
2 seconds before the brakes are released.
PFEB SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
● The multi-sensing front camera unit
does not detect the following objects:
– Children and other people who are of short stature, animals, and
bicycles
– Pedestrians walking at night or in dark areas such as tunnels
– Oncoming vehicles – Crossing vehicles
– Vehicles parked diagonally
● The multi-sensing front camera unit
may not detect a vehicle or pedestrian
ahead in the following conditions:
– Visibility is poor because of bad weather conditions such as rain,
snow, fog, dust storms, sandstorms,
and snowstorms.
– Snow, sand or road spray from trav- eling vehicles.
– The windshield glass in front of the camera is covered with dirt, water
drops, ice, snow, etc.
– The windshield glass in front of the camera is fogged up.
– Strong light (for example, sunlight or high beams from oncoming vehicles)
enters from the front.
– The headlights did not illuminate during the nighttime or in a tunnel, or
the headlight lenses are extremely
dirty.
– Both tail lights of the vehicle ahead do not illuminate at night or inside a
tunnel.
