Even though you press the outside
door handle button, the doors will not
lock and the chime will sound for
three seconds if any of the following
occur:
• The Smart Key is in the vehicle.
• The Engine Start/Stop button is inACC or ON position.
• Any door except the tailgate is open.Unlocking
To unlock:
1. Carry the Smart Key.
2. Either press the door handle but ton or press the Door Unlock but
ton (2) on the smart key.
3. The doors will unlock. The hazard warning lights will blink two times.

Tailgate unlocking
To unlock:
1. Carry the smart key.
2. Either press the tailgate handlebutton or press the Tailgate Unlock
button (3) on the smart key for
more than one second.
3. The hazard warning lights will blink two times.
Once the tailgate is opened and then
closed, the tailgate will lock automat
ically.
Information

Startup
You can start the engine without
inserting the key. For detailed infor
mation refer to the Engine Start/Stop
button in chapter 5.
To prevent damaging the smart key:
•Keep the smart key away from
water or any liquid. If the smart key
is inoperative due to exposure to
water or other liquids, it will not be
covered by your manufacturer’s
vehicle warranty.
•Avoid dropping or throwing the
smart key.
•Protect the smart key from
extreme temperatures.
Mechanical key
If the Smart Key does not operate
normally, you can lock or unlock the
door by using the mechanical key.
Press and hold the release button (1)
and remove the mechanical key (2).
Insert the mechanical key into the
key hole on the door.
To reinstall the mechanical key, put
the key into the hole and push it until
a click sound is heard.

Air bag Warning Light (if
equipped)
T h i s w a r n i n g l i g h t i l l u m i n a t e s :
• Once you set the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop button to the ON
position.
It illuminates for approximately 6 seconds and then goes off.
• When there is a malfunction with the SRS.
In this case, we recommend that
you have the vehicle inspected by
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Seat Belt Warning Light
This warning light informs the driver
that the seat belt is not fastened.
For more details, refer to the “Seat
Belts” in chapter 2.
Parking Brake & Brake
Fluid Warning Light
T h i s w a r n i n g l i g h t i l l u m i n a t e s :
• Once you set the ignition switch orEngine Start/Stop button to the ON position.
It illuminates for approximately 3seconds
It remains on if the parking brake is applied.
• When the parking brake is applied.
• When the brake fluid level in the reservoir is low.
If the warning light illuminates withthe parking brake released, it indi
cates the brake fluid level is low.

Antilock Brake System
(ABS) Warning Light
(if equipped)

• Once you set the ignition switch orEngine Start/Stop button to the ON position.
It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
• When there is a malfunction with the ABS (The normal braking sys
tem will still be operational without
the assistance of the antilock
brake system).
In this case, we recommend that
you have the vehicle inspected by
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Electric Power Steering
(EPS) Warning Light
(if equipped)

• Once you turn the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop button to the ON position.
It remains on until the engine isstarted.
• When there is a malfunction with the EPS.
In this case, we recommend that
you have the vehicle inspected by

Malfunction Indicator
Lamp (MIL)

Malfunction Indicator
Lamp (MIL)
Driving with the Malfunction Indicator
Lamp (MIL) on may cause damage to
the emission control systems which
could effect drivability and/or fuel
economy.

Gasoline Engine
If the Malfunction Indicator Lamp
(MIL) illuminates, potential catalytic
converter damage is possible which
could result in loss of engine power.
In this case, we recommend that you
have the vehicle inspected by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon
as possible.
Diesel Engine with DPF
(if equipped)
When the Malfunction Indicator Lamp
(MIL) blinks, it may stop blinking after
driving the vehicle:
at more than 60km/h (37 mph), or
at more than 2nd gear with 1500 ~
2000 engine rpm for a certain time
(for about 25 minutes).
If the Malfunction Indicator Lamp
(MIL) continues to blink in spite of
the procedure, we recommend that
you have the DPF system checked
by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

If you continue to drive with the
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
blinking for a long time, the DPF sys
tem can be damaged and fuel con
sumption can worsen.
Diesel Engine
If the Malfunction Indicator Lamp
(MIL) blinks, some error related to
the injection quantity adjustment
occurs which could result in loss of
engine power, combustion noise and
poor emission.
In this case, we recommend that you
have the engine control system
inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
Charging System
Warning Light
T h i s w a r n i n g l i g h t i l l u m i n a t e s :
• Once you set the ignition switch orEngine Start/Stop button to the ON position.
It remains on until the engine isstarted.
• When there is a malfunction with either the alternator or electrical
charging system.
I f t h e r e i s a m a l f u n c t i o n w i t h e i t h e r
t h e a l t e r n a t o r o r e l e c t r i c a l c h a r g i n g
s y s t e m :
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop your vehicle.
2. Turn the engine off and check the alternator drive belt for looseness
or breakage.
If the belt is adjusted properly,
there may be a problem in the
electrical charging system.
In this case, we recommend that
you have the vehicle inspected by
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as
soon as possible.
