BATTERY
For best battery service
• Keep the battery securely mounted.
• Keep the battery top clean and dry.
• Keep the terminals and connections clean, tight, and coated with
gasolineeum jelly or terminal
grease.
• Rinse any spilled electrolyte from the battery immediately with asolution of water and baking soda.
• If the vehicle is not going to be used for an extended time, discon
nect the cable from Negative termi
nal (ve) of the Battery to prevent
Discharge.
Information
Basically equipped battery is mainte
nance free type. If your vehicle is
equipped with the battery marked with MIN and MAX on the side, you
can check the electrolyte level. The
electrolyte level should be between
MIN and MAX. If the electrolyte level is low, it needs to add distilled (dem
ineralized) water (Never add sulfuric
acid or other electrolyte).
When refill, be careful not to splash
the battery and adjacent components.
And do not overfill the battery cells. It
can cause corrosion on other parts.
After then ensure that tighten the cell
caps. We recommend that you contact
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
If the Electrolyte level is Low, Add
distilled ( demineralized ) water.
Never add sulfuric acid or other elec
trolyte.

into your eyes, flush
your eyes with clean
water for at least 15 min
utes and get immediate
medical attention. If
electrolyte gets on your
skin, thoroughly wash

tery may be discharged. Never use
unauthorized devices.

1. MF45LBCI : The HYUNDAI model name of battery
2. 12V : The nominal voltage
3. 45Ah(20HR) : The nominal capac ity (in Ampere hours)
4. 80RC : The nominal reser ve capacity (in min.)
5. 410CCA : The coldtest current in amperes by SAE
6. 328A : The coldtest current in amperes by EN
Battery recharging
Your vehicle has a maintenancefree,
calciumbased battery.
• If the battery becomes dischargedin a short time (because, for exam
ple, the headlights or interior lights
were left on while the vehicle was
not in use), recharge it by slow
charging (trickle) for 10 hours.
• If the battery gradually discharges because of high electric load while
the vehicle is being used, recharge
it at 2030A for two hours.
Battery Replacing
Replacing a Battery is required pre
cautionary measures.
We recommend that you consult an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
NOTICE
•Never attempt to recharge the
battery when the battery cables
are connected.
•The electrical ignition system
works with high voltage. Never
touch these components with
the engine running or the igni
tion switched on.
Failure to follow the above warn
ings can result in serious bodily
injury or death.

Reset items
Items should be reset after the bat
tery has been discharged or the bat
tery has been disconnected.
• Auto up/down window (See chapter 3)
• Climate control system (See chapter 3)
• Audio (See chapter 3)
• Clock (See chapter3)
• Trip computer (See chapter 3)
When recharging the battery,
observe the following precautions:
•Before performing maintenance or
recharging the battery, turn off all
accessories and stop the engine.
•Do not allow cigarettes, sparks, or
flame near the battery.
•Wear eye protection when
checking the battery during
charging.
•The battery must be removed
from the vehicle and placed in
an area with good ventilation.
•Watch the battery during charg
ing, and stop or reduce the
charging rate if the battery cells
begin gassing (boiling) violently
or if the temperature of the elec
trolyte of any cell exceeds 49°C
(120°F).

•Disconnect the battery charger in
the following order.
1. Turn off the battery charger
main switch.
2. Unhook the negative clamp
from the negative battery ter
minal.

minal.

FuSES
A vehicle’s electrical system is pro
tected from electrical overload dam
age by fuses.
This vehicle has 2 fuse panels, one
located in the driver’s side panel bol
ster, the other in the engine compart
ment near the battery.
If any of your vehicle’s lights, acces
sories, or controls do not work, check
the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse
has blown, the element inside the
fuse will be melted.
If the electrical system does not
work, first check the driver’s side
fuse panel.
Before replacing a blown fuse, dis
connect the negative battery cable.
Always replace a blown fuse with
one of the same rating.
If the replacement fuse blows, this
indicates an electrical problem. Avoid
using the system involved and imme
diately consult an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
Three kinds of fuses are used: blade
type for lower amperage rating, SlowBlow type and multi fuse for higheramperage ratings.
Do not use a screwdriver or any
other metal object to remove fuses
because it may cause a short circuit
and damage the system.

Fuse replacement
•Never replace a fuse with any
thing but another fuse of the
same rating.
•A higher capacity fuse could
cause damage and possibly a
fire.
•Never install a wire or aluminum
foil instead of the proper fuse
even as a temporary repair. It
may cause extensive wiring
damage and a possible fire.

•When replacing a blown fuse or
relay with a new one, make sure
the new fuse or relay fits tightly into
the clips. The incomplete fastening
fuse or relay may cause the vehi
cle wiring and electric systems
damage and a possible fire.
•Do not remove fuses, relays and
terminals fastened with bolts or
nuts. The fuses, relays and termi
nals may be fastened incomplete
ly, and it may cause a possible fire.
If fuses, relays and terminals fas
tened with bolts or nuts are blown,
consult with an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
•Do not input any other objects
except fuses or relays into
fuse/relay terminals such as a driv
er or wiring. It may cause contact
failure and system malfunction.

•Check the blown fuse with the fuse
information on the fuse box cover.
•Replace the blown fuse on the
same place after turning off the
ignition switch and all electric
switches and disconnecting the
negative battery cable.

Main Fuse (Multi Fuse)
If the multi fuse is blown, it must be
removed as follows:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the nuts shown in the pic ture above.
3. Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
4. Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
