Engine oil temperature
gauge
Under normal operating conditions, the bars
should be within section 1.
In severe operating conditions, the bars may
extend into section 2 .
In this event, slow down, and if necessary,
stop the engine and check the levels (see the
corresponding section).
Coolant temperature gauge
Under normal operating conditions, the bars
should be within section 1 .
In severe operating conditions, the bars may
extend into section 2 , the engine coolant
temperature warning lamp A and the STOP
warning lamp come on in the instrument panel.
Stop as soon as it is safe to do so . Switch off
the ignition. The cooling fan may continue to
operate for a cer tain time .
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.
If the SERVICE warning lamp comes on, check
the levels (see the corresponding section). On horizontal ground, illumination of the fuel
low warning lamp indicates that you are at the
reser ve level.
An alert message is displayed in the instrument
panel.

Warning/indicator lampis on Cause Action / Observations
STOP fixed, associated with
another warning lamp. It is associated with the braking
system or the engine coolant
temperature. Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Park, switch off the ignition and call a CITROËN
dealer or a qualified workshop.
Service temporarily,
accompanied by
a message. One or more minor faults for which
there is no specific warning lamp
have been detected. Identify the cause of the fault using the message
displayed in the screen.
You can deal with some problems yourself, such as a
door open or the start of saturation of the particle filter
(as soon as the traffic conditions allow, regenerate
the filter by driving at a speed of at least 40 mph
(60 km/h), until the warning lamp goes off).
For any other problems, such as a fault with the tyre
under inflation detection system, contact a CITROËN
dealer or a qualified workshop.

The temperature of the cooling
system is too high. Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Wait until the engine has cooled down before topping
up the level, if necessary.
If the problem persists, contact a CITROËN dealer or
qualified workshop.
Battery charge fixed. The battery charging circuit has a
fault (dirty or loose terminals, slack or
cut alternator belt, ...). The warning lamp should go off when the engine is
started.
If it does not go off, contact a CITROËN dealer or a
qualified workshop.

Towing a trailer
Your vehicle is primarily designed for transporting people and luggage, but it may also be used for towing a trailer.
Side wind
F Take into account the increased sensitivity
to side wind.
Driving advice
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases the
temperature of the coolant.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its cooling
capacity is not dependent on the engine speed.
F To lower the engine speed, reduce your
speed.
The maximum towed load on a long incline
depends on the gradient and the ambient
temperature.
In all cases, keep a check on the coolant
temperature.
We recommend the use of genuine
CITR
oËn towbars and their harnesses
that have been tested and approved
from the design stage of your vehicle,
and that the fitting of the towbar is
entrusted to a CITR oËn dealer or a
qualified workshop.
If the towbar is not fitted by a
CITROËN dealer, it must still be
fitted in accordance with the vehicle
manufacturer's instructions.
Driving with a trailer places greater demands
on the towing vehicle and the driver must take
particular care.
Distribution of loads
F d istribute the load in the trailer so that the
heaviest items are as close as possible to
the axle and the nose weight approaches
the maximum permitted without
exceeding it.
a ir density decreases with altitude, thus
reducing engine per formance. Above
1 000 metres, the maximum towed load must
be reduced by 10 % for every 1 000 metres of
altitude.
F If the warning lamp and the
STOP warning lamp come on,
stop the vehicle and switch off
the engine as soon as possible.
Refer to the "Technical data" section for
details of the weights and towed loads
which apply to your vehicle.

Brake fluid level
The brake fluid level should be close
to the "MA X" mark. If it is not, check
the brake pad wear.
Changing the fluid
Refer to the manufacturer's service schedule
for details of the interval for this operation.
Fluid specification
The brake fluid must conform to the
manufacturer's recommendations.
Power steering or power
steering and suspension
fluid level
For topping up, it is necessary to go
to a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.
Coolant level
The coolant level should be close
to the "MA X" mark but should never
exceed it.
Changing the coolant
The coolant does not have to be replaced at
routine services.
Fluid specification
The coolant must conform to the
manufacturer's recommendations. The cooling fan may star t after switching
off the engine: take care with ar ticles and
clothing that might be caught by the fan
blades.
In addition, as the cooling system is pressurised,
wait at least one hour after switching off the
engine before carrying out any work.
To avoid any risk of scalding, unscrew the cap
by two turns to allow the pressure to drop. When
the pressure has dropped, remove the cap and
top up the level. When the engine is warm, the temperature of
the coolant is regulated by the fan.
