Press the power trunk button on
the trunk lid.
Press any trunk button or the touch
pad to stop the power operation.
Pressing a trunk button again starts
the operation in the reverse
direction. The touch pad will not

temporarily disabled under extreme
low temperatures, or after repeated
power cycling over a short period of
time. The trunk can be opened
manually.
Obstacle Detection Features
If there is an obstruction during a
power open or close cycle, a closing
trunk will reverse direction and an
opening trunk will stop power
operation. If there are multiple
obstructions on the same power
cycle, the power function will
deactivate. After removing the
obstructions, manually close the
trunk lid to allow normal power
operation functions to resume. If the vehicle is locked and an
obstacle prevents the trunk from
closing and latching, the horn will
sound as an alert that the trunk did
not close.
Hands-Free Power Trunk If equipped, the power trunk may be
operated with a kicking motion
under the rear bumper. The RKE
transmitter must be within 1 m (3 ft).
The hands-free feature will not work
while the trunk lid is moving. To stop
the trunk while in motion, use one of
the power trunk buttons. To operate, kick your foot straight up
in one swift motion under the center
of the rear bumper, then pull it back.
.
Do not sweep your foot side
to side.
.
Do not keep your foot under the

This feature may be temporarily
disabled under some conditions.
If it does not respond to the kick,
operate the power trunk by
another method or start the
vehicle and the feature will be
re-enabled.

46 Keys, Doors, and Windows Power Sounder, Inclination
Sensor, and Intrusion Sensor In addition to the standard
theft-deterrent system features, this
system may also have a power
sounder, inclination sensor, and
intrusion sensor.
The power sounder provides an
audible alarm, which is distinct from
the vehicle ’ s horn. It has its own
power source, and can sound an
alarm if the vehicle ’ s battery is
compromised.
The inclination sensor can set off
the alarm if it senses movement of
the vehicle, such as a change in
vehicle orientation.
The intrusion sensor monitors the
vehicle interior, and can activate the
alarm if it senses unauthorized entry
into the vehicle ’ s interior. Do not
allow passengers or pets to remain
in the vehicle when the intrusion
sensor is activated. Before arming the theft-deterrent
system and activating the intrusion
sensor:
.
Make sure all doors and
windows are completely closed.
.
Secure any loose items such as
sunshades.
.
Make sure there are no
obstructions blocking the
sensors in the front overhead
console.
Inclination and Intrusion
Sensors Disable Switch It is recommended that the intrusion
and inclination sensors be
deactivated if pets are left in the
vehicle or if the vehicle is being
transported. With the vehicle turned off, press
o in the front overhead console.
The indicator light will come on
momentarily, indicating that these
sensors have been disabled for the
next alarm system arming cycle.
Immobilizer See Radio Frequency
Statement 0 371 .
Immobilizer Operation This vehicle has a passive
theft-deterrent system.
The system does not have to be
manually armed or disarmed.
Cadillac CT6 Owner Manual (GMNA-Localizing-U.S./Canada-9235592) -
2016 - crc - 11/6/15
Keys, Doors, and Windows 47The vehicle is automatically
immobilized when the vehicle is
turned off.
The immobilization system is
disarmed when the pushbutton start
is activated to enter the ACC/
ACCESSORY mode or the ON/
RUN/START mode and a valid
transmitter is present in the vehicle.
The security light, in the instrument
cluster, comes on if there is a
problem with arming or disarming
the theft-deterrent system.
The system has one or more RKE
transmitters matched to an
immobilizer control unit in the
vehicle. Only a correctly matched
RKE transmitter will start the
vehicle. If the transmitter is ever
damaged, you may not be able to
start your vehicle. When trying to start the vehicle, the
security light may come on briefly
when the ignition is turned on.
If the engine does not start and the
security light stays on, there is a
problem with the system. Turn the
ignition off and try again.
If the vehicle will not change ignition
modes (ACC/ACCESSORY, ON/
RUN/START, OFF), and the RKE
transmitter appears to be
undamaged, try another transmitter.
Or, you may try placing the
transmitter in the transmitter pocket
located in the center console. See
Key and Lock Messages 0 150 .
If the ignition modes will not change
with the other transmitter, your
vehicle needs service. If the ignition
does change modes, the first
transmitter may be faulty. See the
dealer.
It is possible for the immobilizer
system to learn new or replacement
RKE transmitters. Up to eight
transmitters can be programmed for
the vehicle. To program additional
transmitters, see “ Programming Transmitters to the Vehicle ” under
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
System Operation 0 29 .
Do not leave the key or device that
disarms or deactivates the
theft-deterrent system in the vehicle.
