In Brief 9
Press and hold7for three seconds
to sound the panic alarm.
Press
7again or start the vehicle to
cancel the panic alarm.
X: Press twice quickly to release
the trunk.
Press the key release button near
the bottom of the transmitter to
remove the key. The key can be
used for the driver door and the
glove box.

Remote Vehicle Start
The engine can be started from
outside of the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle
1. Press and releaseQon the
RKE transmitter.
2. Immediately press and hold
/
for at least four seconds or until
the turn signal lamps flash.
3. Start the vehicle normally after entering. When the vehicle starts, the parking
lamps will turn on.
Remote start can be extended.
Canceling a Remote Start
To cancel a remote start, do one of
the following:

Press and hold
/until the
parking lamps turn off.
. Turn on the hazard warning
flashers.
. Turn the vehicle on and then off.

Door Locks
To lock or unlock a door manually:
.
From the outside, if the vehicle
is equipped with Keyless
Access, press the button on the
door handle when the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter
is within range. See Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) System
Operation 029. .
Use the key in the front driver
door, or if equipped, in the
passenger door key cylinder.
The key cylinder is covered by a
cap. See Door Locks 035.
. From the inside, to lock a rear
door, if equipped, push down on
the door lock knob on top of the
door. To unlock a door, pull once
on the door handle to unlock it,
and again to open it.

This key, inside the Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) transmitter, is used for
the driver door and glove box.
To remove the key, press the button
near the bottom of the transmitter,
and pull the key out. Never pull the
key out without pressing the button.
See your dealer if a new key is
needed.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System
Do not make changes or
modifications to the RKE. This could
void authorization to use this
equipment.
If there is a decrease in the RKE
operating range:
.Check the distance. The
transmitter may be too far from
the vehicle.
. Check the location. Other
vehicles or objects may be
blocking the signal.
. Check the transmitter's battery.
See “Battery Replacement” later
in this section. .
If the transmitter is still not
working correctly, see your
dealer or a qualified technician
for service.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System Operation
The RKE transmitter functions may
work up to 60 m (197 ft) away from
the vehicle.
Keep in mind that other conditions,
such as those previously stated, can
impact the performance of the
transmitter.

{Warning
Children who are up against,
or very close to, any airbag when
it inflates can be seriously injured
or killed. Always secure children
properly in the vehicle. To read
how, seeOlder Children 083 or
Infants and Young Children 084.
There is an airbag readiness light
on the instrument cluster, which
shows the airbag symbol. The
system checks the airbag electrical
system for malfunctions. The light
tells you if there is an electrical
problem. See Airbag Readiness
Light 0116.
Where Are the Airbags?
The driver frontal airbag is in the
center of the steering wheel.
The front outboard passenger
frontal airbag is in the passenger
side instrument panel.
The driver knee airbag is below the
steering column. The front outboard
passenger knee airbag is below the
glove box.

objects in storage compartments.
In a crash, these objects may
cause the cover to open and
could result in injury.
Instrument Panel Storage
To access, press on the cover and
release. There is an accessory
power outlet inside. SeePower
Outlets 0107.
If equipped, there may be storage
behind the climate control system.
Touch the bottom of the climate
control system panel until the door
automatically starts to open. There
is a USB port inside. See the
infotainment manual.
Keep the storage bin closed while
driving.
Touch the bottom of the climate
control system panel again until the
door automatically starts to close.

Storage 101
Glove Box
To open the glove box, lift up on the
lever. Use the key to lock and
unlock it. The glove box may have a
compact disc player inside.
Cupholders
There are two cupholders in the
front center console.
Rear Cupholders
Pull the armrest down to access the
rear cupholders.
Armrest Storage
Front Armrest
Press the button and lift to access
the storage area. There is a USB
port(s), SD card reader (if
equipped), and an auxiliary jack
inside. See the infotainment manual.
Rear Armrest
Pull the armrest down and lift the
cover to access the storage area.

See the infotainment manual for
information on the radio, audio
players, phone, navigation system,
and voice or speech recognition.
It also includes information on
settings.
Performance Data
Recorder (PDR)
If equipped, the PDR icon displays
on the Home screen.
The PDR records video, audio, and
vehicle data. This data is stored on
a removable SD card in the
glove box.
The recorded data is not stored
anywhere else and is only
accessible from the SD card.
To begin, insert a FAT32 formatted
SD card, Class 10 required, into the
glove box SD card reader.
