Convenience opening/closing
The windows and the Panoramic sliding sunroof*
can be opened and closed with the mechanical
key or the emergency key .

When you open or close the Panoramic sliding
sunroof*, the power sunshade will also open or
close.
A WARNING
- Never close the windows and the Panoramic
sliding sunroof* inattentive ly and without
checking -there is risk of injury.
- You must always watch when the w indows
are be ing raised so that no one can be trap­
ped.
If you release the key, the closing ac­
tion is immediately canceled.

Open ing and closing
Correcting window regulator malfunction
After disconnecting the vehicle battery, the one­
touch up and down feature must be activated
again .
"' Pull and hold the power window switch until
the window is completely closed .
"' Release the switch .
"' Pull the sw itch again for one second . The auto­
mat ic closing/opening is now reactivated.
Panorama roof
Operation

Tilting
"'The sunroof can be tilted or closed only in

Opening

• To open the sunroof completely, turn and hold
the switch against the resistance in posit ion @.
• To close the sunroof, turn the switch to posi­
tion @

.. To a utomat ically open the sunshade complete­
ly, briefly press the switch @ in the des ired ar­
row direction.
.. To stop the sunshade in an intermediate posi­
tion, press the switch again, or
.. Press and hold the switch in the desired arrow
direction .
.. Release the sw itch when sunshade is at desired
pos ition .
After the ignition is switched off, you can still op­
erate the Panoramic sliding sunroof for about 10 minutes . As soon as the driver's o r passenger's
door is opened, the switch is inoperat ive.
The power sunshade can also be closed when the Panoramic sliding sunroof is open.
A WARNING
Pay careful attention when closing the Panor­
am ic sliding sunroof- otherwise ser ious injury
cou ld result! For this reason, always remove
the ignition key when leaving the vehicle.
(D Note
Always close your Panoramic sl iding sunroof
when leaving yo ur vehicle. Sudden rain can
cause damage to the i nterior equipment of
your veh icle, particularly the electron ic eq uip­
ment.

Emergency closing of the Panoramic slid ing
sunroof
Applies to veh icles: w ith Panoramic sliding sunroof
If the Panoram ic sliding sunroof detects an ob­
ject in its path when it is clos ing , it will open
aga in automatically . In this case, you can close
the roof with the power emergency clos ing func ­
tion .
.. Within five seconds after the sunroof opens au­
tomat ically, pull the switch unt il the roof
closes .

Garage door opener
(Homelink)
Description

You can act ivate various systems suc h as garage
doors, secur ity systems and home lighting from
inside your vehicle using the garage door opener
(Homelink) . There are three buttons for th is in
the veh icle headliner that can be in used in place
of up to three hand-held transmitters.
To operate systems using the garage door open­
er, the three buttons in the roof headliner must be programmed first .
A WARNING
Make sure no people or objects are in the im­
mediate vi cinity of the equipment when using
or p rogramm ing the ga rage door opener. Peo­
p le can be injured and ob jects can be dam­
aged if they are caught in the equipment.

- For sec urity reasons, we recommend that
yo u clear the prog rammed but tons before
sell ing t he ve hicl e.

" Press the button to open the garage door . The
LED @blinks or turns on .
" Press the button again to close the garage

@ Tips
To open or close the garage door, press the
button, but do not hold it for longer than
10 seconds or the garage door opener module
will switch to programming mode.
Programming the buttons (version A )
Applies to vehicles: with garage door opener (Homelink)
You can program both fixed code and rolling code
systems using this procedure.
Programming or reprogramming buttons
"Switch the ignition on .
"Press and hold the button in the roof headliner

Erasing button programming
The programmed buttons cannot be erased indi­
vidually. They must all be erased together. Re­
program the buttons if necessary.

door opener> Clear program settings > Yes.
Displaying the version/status/country code
"Select: ! CAR ! function button> Car systems*
control button > Vehicle settings > Garage
door opener> Version information.
(D Tips
- Programming through the MMI* is not pos­
sible with all infotainment systems. If this
is the case, program the buttons as descri­
bed in version B

- The required distance between the hand
transmitter and the Homelink module in
the radiator grille

pends on the system that you are program­
ming.
- Depending on the model of the system, you
may need to release the button on the re­
mote control during programming and
press it again. Hold each position you try for
at least
15 seconds before trying another
position . Keep the turn signals on your vehi ­
cle in view when doing this .
- After programming the garage door opener,
it may be necessary to synchronize the mo­
tor with the system. Refer to the manufac­
turer's instructions.

Programming the button : Part 1 with the
contr ols
1. Switch the ignition on.
2. Press and ho ld both outer buttons in the roof
headliner ~
page 49, fig. 44 until the LED @
turns off completely (after about 20 sec­
onds). This procedure clears the s tandard co­
des that were set at the factory and does
not
need to be repeated again to program the
other buttons .
3. Br iefly p ress the b utton o n the roof headliner
that you wou ld like to program .
4. Wa it until the LED @ begins to blink quickly .
Programming mode is active for 5 minutes .
5. Move in front of yo ur vehicle while holding
the original remote control for the system
t hat would like to program to a button in the
roof headliner.

6. Ho ld the remote control up to the radiator
grille on your vehicle¢

7. Press and hold the remote control until the
turn signals on your vehicle blink . This may
take up to 30 seconds.

If the emergency flashers blink th ree t imes,
the programming was suc cessful.
If th e
emergency flashers only b lin k one t ime , the
5 minute time limit for the p rogramming has
ended or the programm ing was not success­
fu l. Repeat the programming from the third
step, or try changing the distance to the radi­
ator grille.

9. If the garage door or other system does not open using the buttons in the roof headliner
even though the programming was success­
ful , the system may use a ro lling code in­
s tead of a fixed code .
Rolling code prog ram­
m ing
must be performed ¢ page 51.
The other two b uttons in the roof head liner can
be programmed according to the instruct ions
above . Begin with the third s tep .
Era sing button prog ramm ing
The prog rammed buttons cannot be erased indi­

quickly (after about 10 seconds) . Release the
button immed iately. Programming mode is ac­

- Programming using the buttons in the roof
headliner is not possible with all Infotain­
ment systems . If this is the case, program
the buttons as descr ibed in version A

Applies to vehicles: with garage door opener (Homelink)
Rolling code programming is also needed for
some systems.
Ident ifying a rolling code
~ Press and hold the button in the roof headliner
that was already programmed .
~ Watch the LED @¢page 49, fig. 44. If the LED
blinks quickly, the systems (such as a garage
door) is equ ipped with a roll ing code .
~ Program the rolling code as follows:
Acti vati ng the motor unit in a system
~ Locate the programming button on the sys­
tem's motor unit. The exact location and color of the button may vary depending on the brand
of the system.
~ Press the programm ing button on the garage
door opener motor unit (th is w ill usually acti­
vate a n "indicator" on the moto r unit). You now
have approximate ly
30 second s to program the
button in the roof headliner .
Programming the button in the roof
h eadline r
~ Press and hold the previously programmed but ­
ton in the roof headliner for 2 seconds.
~ To end rolling code programming, press and hold the button again for two seconds .
~ With some systems, the button may need to be
pressed a third time to end the programming
process .
After programming, the system should detect
the signal and beg in mov ing when the button in
the roof headliner is pressed . Now you may pro ­
gram the other buttons as needed.
(D Tips
- The rolling code can be programmed more
quickly and more easily with the help of a
second person .
- If you have difficulty programm ing the roll­
i ng code, referring to the user guide for the
system may help .

Lights and Vision
Tra ve l m ode ( Canada models )*
The headlight beam is asymme trical. This pro­
vides stronger i llumination on the side of the
road on which you are driving. If you are driving
i n a country that drives on the opposit e sid e of
the road from your own country , this will cause
g lare for oncoming dr ivers . To prevent glare:
- Travel mode must be selected in vehicles with
Xenon headlights *.
- In vehicles with halogen headlights, certain
areas of the headlight lenses must be covered
with waterproof adhesive covers that prevent
li ght from pa ssing through. For more informa­
tion, please see your authori zed Audi dea ler or
autho rized repair facility .
(!) Tips
When travel mode* is activated, a display in
the driver information system ind icates this
each t ime yo u switch the ignition on.
Adaptive light
Applies to vehicles: with adaptive ligh t
When driving around bends, the relevan t area of
the road is be tter illuminated.

Switching on adaptive light

The adaptive light system is a comb ination of the
dynamic and the static cornering lights . With the
lights switched on , the dynamic cornering light
a dapts to driving on cu rves. This is dependent
upon the vehicle speed and steering ang le . This
provides better lighting through the curve. The

system ope rates in a speed range from approxi ­
mately 6 mph (10 km/h) to 68 mph (110 km/h) .
The stat ic co rnering ligh t switc hes on a t speeds
of up to approxima tely 25 mph (40 km/h) whe n a
ce rtain steering w heel angle is reached o r whe n a
turn signal is activated . The area to the side of
the ve hicle is illuminated better when turning.
Emergency flashers
The emergency flashers makes other motorists
aware that you or your vehicle ore in an emer ­
gency situation.

When the emergency flashers are on, all four

The eme rgency flashe rs will turn on automatical­

You should turn on the eme rgency flashers
when:
- yo u are t he last vehicle s tandi ng in a traffic
jam so th at any othe r vehicles com ing c an
s ee yo u, or whe n
- you r vehicle has broken down o r yo u are in
an eme rge ncy si tuati on, or w hen

Removing th e cargo fl oor, in stalling
.. To remove, lift the cargo floor folded together
and pull it toward the rear lid .
.. To insta ll, place the folded cargo floo r into
both retainers and unfold it.
Grab the protective tray on the handles and pu ll
it out. You can also install a divider to divide @
the storage area . Depending on the vehicle
equipment level, the protective tray can have dif­
ferent sizes and shapes.

A WARNING
Do not use the storage hooks to secure heavy
objects. Heavier objects are not adeq uately
secured. There is risk of personal in jury .

Roof rack
Description
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof lug­
gage rack .
If luggage or cargo is to be carr ied on the roof,
you must observe the following:
- On ly a specially designed roof rack may be used
on your vehicle roof. This is provided with your
veh icle .
- These roof racks are the basis for a complete
roof rack system. Additional attachments are
necessary if you want to transport luggage, b i­
cycles, surf boards and skis. All these compo­
nents are avai lable at your authorized Audi
dea le r.
(D Note
If you use other roof luggage rack systems or
do not install the racks as intended, any dam­
age to the veh icle is not cove re d by the war­
r anty . A lways read the manufacturer installa­
tion instructions that came with yo ur roof
rack system when you install the attach ­
ments.
(D Tips
When install ing a factory-supplied roof rac k
system on the roof railing, the ESC will adap t
i tself to a diffe rent cente r of gravity.
Attachment points
The roof rack can only be attached at the
marked locations.
