Front passenger's exterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when ba cking in to a
pa rking space , the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly. For this to happen, the knob must be in
the posit ion for the front passenger's outs ide
mirror.
You can adjust the ti lted mi rror sur fa ce by turn­
ing the knob in the desired direction. When you
move out of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is sto red and assigned to the
key yo u are using.
The mirror goes back into its o riginal position
once yo u drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or tu rn the ignition off .
A WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (convex or spherical *)
increase your f ield of view. Remember that
vehicles or other objects will appear smaller
and fa rther away than when seen in a flat mir­
ror. If you use t his mirro r to est imate distan­
ces of following vehicles whe n cha ng ing
lanes, yo u co uld estimate incor rectly and
c ause an accident .
(D Note
-If the mir ror housing was moved by outs ide
fo rces (such as an impac t when maneuver­
in g), y ou must use the powe r fo ldi ng func­
tion to fold the mirro r all the way out . The
mirror housing must not be moved back in ­
to place by hand beca use this would impa ir
the function of the m irror mechanism.
- If you wash the ve hicle in an automatic car
wash, yo u m ust fold the exte rior m irrors i n
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors.

lyte fl uid can irritate s kin, eyes and respirato ­
ry system.
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to electro­
lyte ca n cause irritation to the respiratory
system, especially among people with asth­ ma or other respiratory conditions . Get
fresh air immediately by leaving the vehicle
or, if that is not possible, open windows a nd

Removing the wiper blade
• Fold the windshield wiper arm away from the
windshield.
• Pull the wiper blade and holder out of the
mount.
Attaching the wiper blade

Digital compass
Switching the compass on and off

The compass direction is shown in the rearview
mirror.

The digital compass only works when the ignition is on. The directions are indicated with abbrevia­
tions :
N (north), NE (northeast), E (east), SE
(southeast) , S (south), SW (southwest), W
(west), NW (northwest) .

(D Tips
To prevent inaccurate compass readings, do
not bring any remote controls, electrical devi­
ces or metallic objects near the mirror.
Adjusting the magnetic zone
Applies to vehicles: with digital compass
The magnetic zone must be adjusted correctly
for the compass to read accurately.

Calibrating the compass

You must recalibrate the compass if it does not
display the correct direction.

-The coat hooks must only be used for light­
weight clothing . Do not leave any heavy or
sharp edged objects in the pockets which
may interfere with the side curtain airbag
deployment and can cause personal injury in
a crash .
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging cloth­ ing on the coat hooks as this can interfere
with proper deployment of the side curtain
airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal injury in
a sudden stop.
-Always keep the compartment above the
rearview mirror closed while driving to re­
duce the risk of injury in the event of sudden
braking maneuvers or a collision.

Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rear window could damage the
heating wires for the rear window defogger.
(j) Tips
-A vent slot is located between the shelf and
the rear window. Do not block the vent with
any items you may place on the rear window
shelf.
- Do not p lace bulky items on the rear window
shelf as they could restrict or block the driv­
er's vision in the rear view mirror.
Roof rack
Description and mounting locations
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof lug­
gage rack .

"'Always read and follow the instructions provid­
ed by the roof rack manufacturer when instal­
ling the roof rack system.
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the roof,
you must observe the following :
- Only use roof racks approved for your vehicle .
These approved roof racks are the basis for a
complete roof rack system . Add it ional attach­
ments or carrier systems are needed to trans­
port luggage and sports equipment. We recom­
mend using roof racks from the Audi original
accessories program.
- When insta lling the roof rack, make sure it is
only mounted on the designated locations on
the roof

- We recommend that you keep the installation
instructions for your roof rack system together
with your Owner's literature in the vehicle .
When should the roof rack be removed?
-Before going through an automatic car wash (it
is best to ask the car wash operator for advice).
- When not in use, to reduce fuel consumption,
wind noise and to guard against theft .
_&. WARNING
- Use of an unapproved roof rack or incorrect
mounting of an approved roof rack can
cause the roof rack or the items attached to
it to fall off the roof onto the road.
- Objects falling from the roof of a vehicle can
cause a crash and personal injury.
- Only mount the roof rack on the designated
locations on the roof

Side assist helps you monitor your blind spot and
traffic behind your vehicle . Within the limits of
the system , it warns you about vehicles that are
coming closer or that are traveling with you with­
in sensor range ©

The display in the left exterior mirror provides as­
sistance when making a lane change to the left,
while the d isp lay in the right exterior mirror pro ­

Information stage
As long as you do not activate the turn signal,
side assist
informs you about vehicles that are
detected and class ified as critica l. The disp lay in
the respective mirro r turns on , but is dim .
Aud i side assist
The display remains dim intentionally in the in­
formation stage so that your view toward the
front is not disturbed.
Warning stage
If you activate the turn signal , side assist warns
you about vehicles that are detected and classi­
fied as critical. The display in the respect ive mir­
ror blinks bright ly. If this happens, check traffic
by glancing in the rearview mirror and ove r you r
shoulder

-Improper reliance on the side assist system
can cause collisions and serious personal in­
jury:
- Never rely only on side assist when chang­
ing lanes.
- Always check rear view mirrors to make
sure that it is safe to change lanes.
- Side assist cannot detect all vehicles under
all conditions- danger of accident!
- Please note that side assist indicates there
are approaching vehicles, or vehicles in your
blind spot, only after your vehicle has
reached a driving speed of at least 19 mph
(30 km/h).
- In certain situations, the system may not
function or its function may be limited. For
example:
- if vehicles are approaching or being left
behind very quickly. The display may not
turn on in time.
- in poor weather conditions such as heavy
rain, snow or heavy mist.
- on very wide lanes, in tight curves or if
there is a rise in the road surface. Vehicles
in the adjacent lane may not be detected
because they are outside of the sensor
range.
(D Note
The sensors can be displaced by impacts or
damage to the bumper, wheel housing and
underbody. This can affect the system. Have
your authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Audi Service Facility check their function.
(D Tips
-If the window glass in the driver's door or
front passenger's door has been tinted , the
display in the exterior mirror may be misin­
terpreted.

Activating and deactivating

Adjusting the display brightness
Applies to vehicles: with Audi side assist
The signal brightness can be set in the radio or
MM!*.

control button > Driver assist > Audi side as­
sist.
The display brightness adjusts automatically to
the brightness of the surroundings, both in the
information and in the warning stage . In very
dark or very bright surroundings, the display is
already set to the minimum or maximum level by
the automatic adjustment. In such cases, you
may notice no change when adjusting the bright­
ness, or the change may only be noticeable once
the surroundings change.
Adjust the brightness to a level where the display
in the information stage will not disrupt your
view forward. If you change the brightness, the
display in the exterior mirror will briefly show the
brightness level in the information stage. The
brightness of the warning stage is linked to the
brightness in the information stage and is adjust­
ed along with the information stage adjustment.

Watch out especially for small chil­
dren and animals. The rear view camera can ­
not always detect them, posing risk of an
accident!
- Please note that objects not touching the
ground can appear to be further away than
they really are (for example, the bumper of
a parked vehicle, a trailer hitch, or the rear
of a truck). In this case, you should not use
the help lines to help with parking, which
poses danger of an accident!

- Low obstacles already signaled by a warning
can disappear from the system's detection
range as they are approached and will not
continue to be signaled. Objects such as
barrier chains, trailer draw bars, thin paint­
ed vertical poles or fences may not be de­
tected by the system , posing risk of dam­
age .
- In the MMI display, the direction of travel of
the vehicle rear is represented depending on
the steering wheel angle. The vehicle front
swings out more than the vehicle rear .
Maintain plenty of distance from an obsta­
cle so that your outside mirror or a corner of
your vehicle does not collide with any obsta­
cles -danger of accident!

Warning tones

-Music volume while parking -when the park-
ing system is switched on, the volume of the
active audio source is lowered.
The newly adjusted value is briefly heard from
the signal generator. The settings are automati­
cally stored and assigned to the remote control
key.
A WARNING
- Always make sure that the volume and fre­ quency of the warning tones is adjusted so
that you can easily hear the acoustic dis­
tance signal even if the radio is playing, the
air-conditioner blower is on High or there is
a high level of outside noise.

- Check the settings whenever someone else
has driven the vehicle before you.
@ Tips
-The warning tones can also be adjusted di­
rectly from the rear view camera image.
Simply press the Settings* control button.
- Changed settings are activated when park­
ing assist is switched on again.
Error messages
Applies to vehicles: with parking system (rear, with rear view
camera)
If a warning tone is audible for about five sec­
onds when you turn on the ignition, there is a
malfunction in the system. Have the problem
corrected by your authorized Audi dealer .
Keep the sensors in the rear bumper clean and
free from ice so that the acoustic park assist sys­
tem can function properly.
