You can adjust the settings for the rear sun shade
so the shade retracts automatically when you se­
lect the reverse gear. To do th is, select the

The current se tting is au­
tomatically stored and assigned to t he remo te
key. The sun shade is extended again as soon as
the vehicle is traveling forward at a speed greater
than 9 mph (15 km/h) if the ignition has not
been switched off in the meant ime.
A WARNING
Whe n lowering or ra is ing the sunshade, make
sure there is nothing in its way and that it has
a free path to travel. This could cause person­
al injury.

@ Tips
- Pressing the button~ several times con­
secut ive ly can t rigger the overload protec­
t ion. The sun shade can only be extended/
retracted again after a brief wait ing per iod .
- The rear window sun shade o nly functions
when the veh icle inter ior is warmer than
14°F (-10°C).

droplets, the windshield wiper performs one af­
terwipe operat ion after several seconds while
driving . You can sw itch this function off by mov­

is reactivated the next t ime the ignit io n is switch­
ed on.

when the reverse gear is engaged and the fro nt

A WARNING
- T he rain senso r is only intended to assist the
dr iver. The driver is still responsib le for
man ua lly switching the wipers on accord ing
to the visibility conditions.
- T he windshie ld may not be treated wi th wa­
ter -repell ing windsh ield coa ting agents . Un­
favorable conditions, s uch as wetness, dark­
ness, low sun, can result in increased glare.
Wiper blade chatter is also possible .

blades are required for a clear view and safe

-In the case of frost, check whether the
w indshield wiper blades are frozen to the
w indshield. Switching on the w indshield
w ipers can damage the w iper blades!
- Pr ior to using a car wash, the w indshield
w iper system must be sw itched off (lever in
position @). This helps to prevent un inten­
tional switch ing on and damage to the
w indshield wiper system .
(D Tips
-The windshie ld w ipers are switched off
when the ig nit ion is turned off . Act ivate the
w indshield wipers after the ignition is
switched back on by moving the w indshield
w iper lever to a ny position.
- Worn or dirty windshie ld w iper blades resu lt
in st reaking. This can affect the rain sensor*
function. Che ck your w indshield w iper
blades reg ularly.
- T he washer f luid noz zles of the w indshie ld
washer system a re heated at low tempera­
t u res when the ign ition is on .
- When s topping tempo rar ily, (e .g . at a t raf­
fic ligh t) the set speed of the winds hield
wipers is a utomatically reduced by one
speed .
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the windshie ld wipe r blades when they be­
gin to leave st reaks. Use a soft cloth and gla ss
cleaner to clean the windshield wiper blades.

Sea ts and stor age
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and g lasses can cause injury in an acci­
dent.
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray -risk of fire.
(D Note
On ly drink containe rs with lids should be car"
r ied in the cupholder . Liquid co uld spill out
and damage your vehicle's electronic equip­
ment or stain the upho lstery, etc.
Glove compartment
The glove compartment is illuminated and can
be lo cked .

On the right side in the glove compa rtment is a
holder with the key body into which the emerge n­
cy key m ust be cl ipped to be able to start the ve­
hicle.
A WARNING
To red uce the risk of personal injury in an acc i­
dent or sudden stop, always keep the glove
compartment closed wh ile driving.

Additional storage
There a re a variety of storage compartments and
fasteners in var ious places in the veh icle .
- In the roof head liner above t he rearview m irror .
- On the back of the fron t seat . The compart-
ment can hold a maximum we ight of 1 kg .
- On the left and right of the luggage compart­
ment, beh ind the side trim .
- Garment hooks on the pillars in the rear of the
vehicle .
.,&. WARNING
- When driving, do not leave any hard objects
on the rear window shelf o r allow your pet
to sit on the shelf . They co uld become a haz­
ard for vehicle occupants in the event of
sudden b raking or a crash .
- Always remove objects from the instr ument
panel. Any items no t stored co uld slide
aro und inside t he vehi cle while drivi ng or
when acce le rating or when a pplying the
brakes or when dr iving around a corner.
- When you are driving make sure that any­
thing you may have placed in the center con­
sole or other storage locations cannot fa ll
out into the footwells. In case of sudden
braking you wo uld not be able to brake or
accelerate.
- Any articles of clothing that you have hung up must not interfere with the driver 's view .
The coat hooks are designed on ly for light­
we ight clothing . Never ha ng a ny clot hing
w it h ha rd, pointed o r heavy ob jects in the
pockets on t he coa t hooks. Du ring sudden
braking or in an acciden t -espe cially if the
ai rbag is deployed -these ob jects cou ld in­
jure any passengers inside the veh icle .
- To reduce the r is k of person al injury i n an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while dr iving.

-The coat hooks must only be used for light­
weight clothing . Do not leave any heavy or
sharp edged objects in the pockets which
may interfere with the side curtain airbag
deployment and can cause personal injury in
a crash .
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging cloth­ ing on the coat hooks as this can interfere
with proper deployment of the side curtain
airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal injury in
a sudden stop.
-Always keep the compartment above the
rearview mirror closed while driving to re­
duce the risk of injury in the event of sudden
braking maneuvers or a collision.

Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rear window could damage the
heating wires for the rear window defogger.
(j) Tips
-A vent slot is located between the shelf and
the rear window. Do not block the vent with
any items you may place on the rear window
shelf.
- Do not p lace bulky items on the rear window
shelf as they could restrict or block the driv­
er's vision in the rear view mirror.
Roof rack
Description and mounting locations
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof lug­
gage rack .

"'Always read and follow the instructions provid­
ed by the roof rack manufacturer when instal­
ling the roof rack system.
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the roof,
you must observe the following :
- Only use roof racks approved for your vehicle .
These approved roof racks are the basis for a
complete roof rack system . Add it ional attach­
ments or carrier systems are needed to trans­
port luggage and sports equipment. We recom­
mend using roof racks from the Audi original
accessories program.
- When insta lling the roof rack, make sure it is
only mounted on the designated locations on
the roof

- We recommend that you keep the installation
instructions for your roof rack system together
with your Owner's literature in the vehicle .
When should the roof rack be removed?
-Before going through an automatic car wash (it
is best to ask the car wash operator for advice).
- When not in use, to reduce fuel consumption,
wind noise and to guard against theft .
_&. WARNING
- Use of an unapproved roof rack or incorrect
mounting of an approved roof rack can
cause the roof rack or the items attached to
it to fall off the roof onto the road.
- Objects falling from the roof of a vehicle can
cause a crash and personal injury.
- Only mount the roof rack on the designated
locations on the roof

Parcel shelf
The parcel shelf behind the rear seatback can be
used to carry light items of clothing.
A WARNING
No heavy or hard objects should be p laced on
the parcel shelf. They are a haza rd to the vehi­
cle occ upants d uring sudden b raking. The is a
r isk of injury.
(D Note
Please make sure that the heating wires for
the rear window defogger are not damage by abrasive objects.

To ensure problem-free ventilation, the venti ­
l ation slots between the rear window and the
parcel shelf must not be covered.

Climate control system
Description
The climate control system warms, cools and
adds humidity to the air in the veh icle inter ior. It
is the most effective when the windows and sun ­
roof are closed. If there is a build-up of heat in­
side the vehicle, ventilation can help to speed up
the cooling process.
I n all heating mode functions except
defrost, the
b lower only switches to a higher speed once the
engine coolant has reached a certain tempera­
ture .
Condensat ion from the cooling system can drip
and form a puddle of water under the veh icle.
This is normal and does not mean there is a leak.
P ollutant filt er
The pol lutant filte r removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the a ir.
The air pollutants filter must be changed at the intervals specif ied in your Warranty
& Mainte­
nance booklet, so that the a ir cond it ione r can
properly work.
If you drive your vehicle in an area with high air pollut ion, the filter may need to be changed
more frequently than specified i n your Aud i War­
ranty
& Maintenance booklet. If in doubt, ask
your author ized Audi Service Advisor for advice.
Ke y cod ed setting s
The climate control settings are automatically
stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use .
.8, WARNING
Reduced visib ility is dangerous and can ca use
accidents.
- For safe dr iv ing it is very impo rtan t that all
windows be free of ice, snow and condensa­
t ion .

- Complete ly familiarize yourself with the
proper use and function of the heating and
ventilation system and espec ially how to de­
fog and defrost the wi ndows .
- Never use the windshield wiper/washer sys­
tem in freezing weather until you have
warmed the windshield first, using the heat­ ing and vent ilation system. The washer solu­
tion may freeze on the windshield and re­
duce visibi lity.
(D Note
- If you suspect that the air conditioner has
been damaged, sw itch the system off to
avoid further damage and have it inspected
by a q ualified dealership.
- Repa irs to the Aud i air cond itioner requ ire
special techn ica l know ledge and spec ial
tools. Contact an a uthorized Audi dealer fo r
assistance.
@ For the sake of the environment
By reduc ing the amo unt of fuel you use, you
also reduce the amount of pollutants emitted
into the a ir.
(D Tips
- Keep t he a ir intake slots (in front of the
windshield) free from ice, snow and debr is
in orde r to maintain the prope r funct ion of
the climate control system .
- The energy management sys tem may sw itch
the seat heating* o r rea r window defroster
off temporarily. These systems are available
again as soon as the energy balance has
been restored.
- Air escapes through vents under the rear
window. When placing items of clothing on
the luggage compartment cover, ensure
that the openings are not covered.

Operation
We recommend pressing the !AUTO ! button and setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C).

Press the buttons to turn the functions on or off.
Use the dials to adjust the temperature, the
b lower speed and the air distrib ution . The LED in
a button will light up when the function is
switched on. The settings are displayed for a few
seconds in the radio or MM!* display.
In vehicles with a 3-zone deluxe automatic cli­
mate control systems*, the driver and front pas­
senger side can be adjusted separately. The set­
tings are a lso displayed in the climate control
~ system display.

I OFFI Switching the climate control system
on/off
T he iOFF i button switches the climate control
system on or off.
It also switches on when you
press the knob. Airflow from outside is blocked
when the cl imate control system is switched off.
IA/C l Switching cooling mode on/off
The air is not coo led and humidity is not removed
when cooling mode is switched off . This can
cause fog on the windows. The cooling mode is
switched off automat ically at low outside tem-
peratures.

In recirculation mode, the a ir inside the vehicle is
circu lated and filtered. This prevents the unfil­
tered air outside the vehicle from entering the
ve hicle interior. We recommend switching recir­
culation mode on when driving through a tunnel
or when sitting in traffic¢.&,.

IAUTO I Switching aut omatic mode on
Automatic mode ma inta ins a constant tempe ra ­
ture inside the veh icle . Air temperature, airflow
and air distribution are controlled automatically.
Adjusting th e tempe rature
Temperatures between 60 °f (+16 °C) and 84 °f
( + 28 °C) can be set. Outside of this range,
LO or
HI will appear in the cl imate control system dis­
p lay. At both of these settings, the climate con­
trol system runs continuously at maximum cool ­
ing or heating power. There is no temperature
regulation.
~ A dj usting the airflow
You can adjust the airf low manually to s uit your
needs. To have the airflow regulated automati­
cally, press the
IAU TO I button.
~ Adjusting the air distribution
You can manually select the vents where the air
will flow. To have the a ir dist ribution reg ulated
automatically , press the
IAU TO I button.
QJ Adju sting seat h eating *
Pressing the button switches the seat heat ing on
at the h ighest setting (level 3) . The LEDs indicate
the temperature level. To reduce the tempera­
ture, p ress the button aga in. To sw itch the seat
heating off, p ress the butto n repeated ly unt il the
L ED turns off.
After 10 minutes, the seat heating automatically
sw itches from level 3 to level 2.
I @ FRONT I Switch the d efroster on /off
The windsh ield and s ide windows are defrosted
or cleared of condensation as qu ickly as possible .

The maximum amount of air flows mainly from
the vents below the windshield . Recirculation
mode switches off. The temperature should be
set to 72 °f (22 °C) or higher. The temperature is
controlled automatically.

off
The rear window heater only operates when the
engine is running.
It switches off automatically
after a few minutes, depending on the outside
temperature.
To prevent the rear window heater from switch ­
i ng off automatica lly, press and hold the
loo REARI
button for more than 2 seconds . This remains
stored unti l the ignition is sw itched off.
Air vents
You can open and close the cente r and rear a ir
vents using the thumbwheels. The levers adjust
the direction of the airf low from the vents.
In veh icles with a 3-zone deluxe automatic cli­
mate contro l system*, you can adjust the a ir tem­
perature in the rear by turning the th umbwheel
toward the red side to make it warmer or toward
the blue side to make it cooler.
A WARNING
- Do not use the rec irculat ion for extended
periods of time. The windows could fog up
since no fresh air can enter the vehicle. If
the windows fog up, press the air rec ircula­
tion button again immed iate ly to sw itch off
the air rec irculat io n function o r select de­
frost.
- Individua ls w ith redu ced sensit iv ity to pa in
or temperature could develop b urns when
using the seat heating f unction. To red uce
the risk of inj ury, these individuals sho uld
not use seat heating.
(D Note
To avoid damage to the heating elements in
the seats, do no t knee l on the seats o r place
heavy loads on a small area of the seat .
