the switch down or pull the switch up br iefly to
the second level. The operation will stop if the switch is pressed/p ulled aga in.
.. To se lect a position in between opened and
closed, press/pull the switch to the first level

A WARNING
- Always remove the ign it ion key when you
leave you r vehicle, even for a short period of
t ime . T his applies part icularly when children

remain in the vehicle. Ot herwise the chil·
dren could start the engine or operate elec­
trical equipment such as power w indows.
The power windows cont inue to funct ion un­
til the driver's door or front passenger's
door has bee n opened .
- Pay careful attention when closing the win­ dows. It cou ld cause injury by pinch ing .
- W hen lock ing the vehicle from o utside, the
veh icle must be unoccup ied since the win­
dows can no longer be opened in an emer­
gency.

After turning the ignition off you can st ill
open and close the windows for approximate­ l y 10 seconds . The powe r windows are not
swi tc h ed off u ntil t he drive r's doo r o r front
passenger's doo r has been opened.
Convenience opening/ closing
With the convenie nce opening/closing function,
you can centrally and easily open the windows
from the outside .

- Only adjust the front seat with when the ve ­
hicle is stationary. Otherwise, this increases
the risk of an accident
- The power adjustment for the front seats al­
so works wit h the ignition switched off or
with the ignition key removed. For this rea­
son, children shou ld never be left unattend­
ed in the veh icle - they could be injured!
- Exercise caution when adjusting the seat height. Unsuperv ised or careless seat ad­
justment can p inch f ingers or hands causing
injuries.
- The front seat backrests must not be re­
clined too far back when driving, because
this impairs the effectiveness of the safety belts and airbag system, which increases
the risk of injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury during sudden
bra king or i n a co llision, the driver and front
p as senge r shou ld no t have the ir back rests in
the reclined posit ion while driv ing or riding.
T he safety belts and airbag system can pro ­
vide the greatest protection possible when
the backrests are in the upr ight position and
the safety be lts a re worn correctly. The
more a backrest is reclined, the greater the
risk of injury due to an incorrect seating po­
sit ion and safety belt position.
Easy seat entry
Easy seat entry makes it easier to get into the
back seats.

If the seat w ill not lock in place after using
easy seat entry, slide the seat all the way back unt il it stops. Then adjust the seat to the de­
sired posit ion.

To remove the head restrai nts, the backrest m ust

To install the head restraints, the backrest must

place . You should not be able to pull the head
restra int out of the backrest.

- Only remove the rear seat head rest raints
when necessary in order to install a child
seat . Insta ll the head restra int aga in imme ­
diately once the ch ild seat is removed. Driv­
ing with the head restra ints removed or
head restraints not in the highest position
increases the risk of serio us in ju ry.

The 12 volt socket can be used for electr ical ac­
cessor ies. The power consumption at the out let
must not exceed 120 watts.

The socket works on ly when t he ignit ion is

ous injuries or burns. To reduce the risk o f in­
ju ries, never leave children unatte nded in the
vehicle with the vehicle key .

-When releasing the rear seat backrest,
make sure there are no people or animals
within its range of motion . The backrest will
fold forwa rd automatically after it is re­
leased .
- The backrest must be securely latched so
objects cannot slide forward out of the lug­
gage compa rtment dur ing sudden bra king.
- Always make sure the back rest is la tched
completely by pulling forward on it.
- Make sure the safety be lt is not ca ught in
t he door h inges o r the seat fitt ings and
damaged.
- Torn or frayed safety belts can break , and
bel t anchors can break d uring a co llision .
C heck the safety bel ts regularly . Safe ty

Weak, damaged or fau lty straps used to se­
cure objects to t he tie-downs can fail dur ing
heavy braking or a collision and lead to seri­
ous injur ies.
- Always use suitable straps and secure ob­
jects to the tie-downs in the luggage com­
pa rtme nt to prevent objects from shifting
a nd slid ing forwa rd .
- Never secure a child seat restraint to a tie ­
down .
- Because of the ir load capacity, the hooks
should only be used to secure objects that
weigh a max imum of 10 lb (5 kg) . Heavy ob­
jects will not be secu red s ufficiently , and
this in creases the risk of in jury.

ear window defogger
The LED in the~ button turns on when the func­
tion is sw itched on¢

If the rear window defogger is activated when
the ignition is switched on, the battery manage­
ment determ ines based on the battery charge if
it is possible to turn on . Otherwise, the rear win ­
dow defogger functions with the engine running
and switches off automatically after approxi­ mately 10 -20 minutes, depending on the out­
side temperature.
To prevent the rear w indow defogger from
sw itching off automatically, p ress and hold the
00 butto n for mo re than th ree seconds. This re­
mains stored up to approx imately 15 minutes af­
ter turn ing off the ignition.
Seat heating
A ppl ies to: ve hicles w ith heated seats
The seat heating has three leve ls. The LED in the
button indicates the selected heat level

.. To switc h the seat heating on, press the~ but­

.. To switch to a lower leve l, press the~ button

ton repeated ly until the LED turns off.
The seat heat ing swi tches a utomatically from
setting 3 to setting 2 after 10 minutes.
When seat heating should not be switched
on
Do n ot turn the seat heat ing on unde r the follow­
i ng circumstances:
- The seat is unoccupied.
- The seat is covered with a seat cover.
- The seat is covered with a child seat.
- The seat is damp or wet.
A WARNING
Indiv iduals w ith reduced sensitivity to pain or
temperature could develop burns when us ing
the seat heat ing funct ion. To reduce the r isk
of injury, these ind ividuals should not use
seat heating.

To avoid damage to the heating elements in
the seats, do not kneel on the seats or place heavy loads on a small area of the seat .
(D Tips
-The setting for the seat heating on the driv­
er's s ide is assigned to the key that is in use.
- If the front passenger's seat heating is
turned on, it w ill not turn on again automat­
ically if more than 10 minutes have passed
between switch ing the ignit ion off and
switching it on aga in.

model versions of yo ur vehicle . Some of the fea­
tures descr ibed in t his sections may be s tanda rd
equipment on some models, or may be optional
equipment on others . If you are not sure, ask
your authorized Audi dealer.
A WARNING
- Always make sure that you follow the in­
structions and heed the WARNINGS in th is
Manual.
It is in your interest and in the in­
te rest of your passengers.
- Always keep the comp lete Owner's Litera­
ture in your A udi when you lend or se ll your
vehicle so that this important information

- Always keep the Owner 's literature handy so

The safety features are part of the occupant re­
straint system and work together to help reduce the risk of injury in a wide variety of accident sit­
uations.
You r safety and the safety of your passengers
should not be left to chance . Advances in tech­
no logy have made a va riety of features available
to help red uce the risk of inj ury in an accident.
The following is a lis t of jus t a few of the safe ty
fea tures in yo ur Audi :
- sophisticated safety be lts fo r drive r and all pas-
senge r seat ing pos itions,
- safety belt pretensioners,
- safety bel t force lim ite rs fo r the front seats,
- front airbags,
- knee airbags for the front seats*
- side airbags in the front seats,
- special LATCH anchorages fo r child res trai nts,
- head rest raints fo r each seati ng position,
- adjustab le steering column.

These ind iv idual safety features, can work to­
gether as a system to he lp protect you and your
passengers i n a wide range of acc idents. These
fea tures cannot wo rk as a system if they are not
always correctly adjusted and cor rect ly used.

Important things to do before driving
Safety is everybody 's job! Vehicle and occupant
safety always depends on the informed and care­
ful driver .
For your safety and the safety of your passen­
gers,
be fo re dri ving always:
.. Make sure that a ll lights and signals a re operat­

.. Make sure that the tire pressure is correct.
.. Make sure that all windows are clean and afford

What impairs driving safety?
Safe driving is directly related to the condition of
the vehicle , the driver as well as the driver's abili­
ty to concentrate on the road without being dis­
tracted.
The driver is responsible for the safety of the ve­
hicle and all of its occupants. If your ability to
drive is impaired, safety risks for everybody in the
veh icle increase and you also become a hazard to
everyone else on the road
¢ ,&. Therefore :
.,. Do not let yourself be distracted by passengers
or by using a cellular telephone.
.. NEVER dr ive when your driv ing ability is im ­
paired (by medications, alcohol, drugs, etc.) .
.. Observe all traffic laws, rules of the road and
speed limits and plain common sense.
.. ALWAYS adjust your speed to road, traffic and
weathe r conditions.
.. Take frequent breaks on long trips. Do not drive
for more than two hours at a stretch .
.. Do NOT drive when you are tired, under pres­
sure or when you are stressed.
A WARNING
Impaired dr iv ing safety increases the risk of
ser ious personal inj ury and death whenever a
vehicle is being used.

The proper driver seating position is important
for safe, relaxed driving .

For your own safety and to reduce the risk of in­
jury in the event of an accident, we recommend
that you adjust the driver 's seat to the following
position:
.. Adjust the driver's seat so that you can easily
push the pedals all the way to the floor while
keep ing your knee(s) slightly bent¢,& .
.,. Adjust the angle of the seatback so that it is in
an upright position so that your back comes in
full contact wi th it when you dr ive .
.. Adjust the steering wheel so that there is a dis­
tance of at least 10 inches (25 cm) between the
steering whee l and your breast bone¢

ership about adaptive equipment.
.. Adjust the steering wheel so that the steering
wheel and airbag cover points at your chest and
not at your face .
.,. Grasp the top of the steering wheel with your
elbow(s) slightly bent .
.. For adjustable head restraints: Adjust the head
restraint so the upper edge is as even as possi­
b le with the top of your head. If that is not pos­
sible, try to adjust the head restraint so that it
is as close to this posit ion as possible. Move the
head restraint so that it is as close to the back
of the head as possible.
