VEHICLE CHANGES / ALTERATIONS
WARNING
Any change or alteration of the vehicle might seriously affect its safety and road holding, thus causing accidents, in which the
occupants could even be fatally injured.
ACCESSORIES PURCHASED BY THE OWNER
If after buying the vehicle, you decide to install electrical accessories that require a permanent electrical supply (e.g. radio,
satellite anti-theft system, etc.) or accessories that in any case burden the electrical supply, contact a dedicated Alfa Romeo
Dealership, whose personnel will check whether the vehicle's electrical system is able to withstand the load required, or
whether it needs to be integrated with a more powerful battery.
Take care when fitting additional spoilers, alloy wheel rims or non-standard wheel hubs: they could reduce the ventilation of the
brakes and affect efficiency under sharp, repeated braking or on long descents. Make sure that nothing obstructs the pedal
stroke (mats, etc.).
INSTALLING ELECTRICAL / ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Electrical and electronic devices installed after buying the car in the context of after-sales service must carry the following label.
Alfa Romeo authorises the installation of transceivers provided that installation is carried out at a specialised centre, in a
workmanlike fashion and in compliance with manufacturer's specifications.
IMPORTANT Traffic police may not allow the vehicle on the road if devices have been installed which modify the features of the
vehicle. This may also cause invalidation of warranty in relation to faults caused by the change either directly or indirectly related
to it.
Alfa Romeo shall not be liable for damage caused by the installation of accessories either not supplied or recommended by Alfa
Romeo and/or not installed in compliance with the provided instructions.
RADIO TRANSMITTERS AND MOBILE PHONES
Radio transmitter equipment (vehicle mobile phones, CB radios, amateur radio etc.) cannot be used inside the vehicle unless a
separate aerial is mounted externally.
Transmission and reception of these devices may be affected by the shielding effect of the vehicle body. As far as the use of
EC-approved mobile phones is concerned (GSM, GPRS, UMTS, LTE), follow the usage instructions provided by the mobile
phone Manufacturer.
IMPORTANT The use of these devices inside the passenger compartment (without an external aerial) may cause the electrical
systems to malfunction. This could compromise the safety of the vehicle in addition to constituting a potential hazard for
passengers' health.

IGNITION SWITCH
Operation
The key can be turned to three different
positions fig. 9:
STOP: engine off, key can be
removed, steering column locked.
Some electrical devices (e.g. radio,
central door locking system, alarm, etc.)
are still available;
MAR-ON: driving position. All
electrical devices are available;
AVV: engine starting.
The ignition switch is fitted with a safety
system that requires the ignition key to
be turned back to STOP if the engine
does not start, before the starting
operation can be repeated.
...... 03)
STEERING LOCK
Activation
When the key is at STOP, remove the
key and turn the steering wheel until it
locks.
Deactivation
Move the steering wheel slightly and
turn the ignition key to MAR-ON.
4) 5)
WARNING
2)If the ignition device has been tampered
with (e.g. an attempted theft), have it
checked over by the Alfa Romeo
Dealership before driving again.
3)Always take the key with you when you
leave your vehicle to prevent someone
from accidentally operating the controls.
Remember to engage the electric parking
brake. Never leave children unattended in
the vehicle.
4)It is absolutely forbidden to carry out any
after-market operation involving steering
system or steering column modifications
(e.g. installation of anti-theft device) that
could adversely affect performance,
invalidate the warranty, cause serious
safety problems and also result in the car
not meeting type-approval requirements.
5)Never extract the mechanical key while
the vehicle is moving. The steering wheel
will automatically lock as soon as it is
turned. This holds true for cars being
towed as well.
SEATS
ADJUSTMENTS
Lengthwise adjustment
(for versions/markets, where provided)
Lift lever A fig. 10 and push the seat
forwards or backwards: in the driving
position your arms should rest on the
rim of the steering wheel.
6) 7)
Alfa Romeo’s advice: the seat must be
adjusted so that the entire sole of the
foot presses on the brake pedal when it
is fully depressed; at the same time,
your right leg must be bent slightly. In
this way, in the event of emergency, the
driver can generate sufficient force to
achieve adequate pressure on the
brake pedal. Moreover, this reduces the
risk of leg injuries in the event of an
accident.

PARKING SENSORS
(for versions/markets, where provided)
They are located in the rear bumper
fig. 53 and their function is to detect the
presence of any obstacles near the rear
part of the car; they consequently
inform the driver, through an intermittent
acoustic signal.
ACTIVATION/
DEACTIVATION
The sensors are automatically activated
when reverse gear is engaged. As the
obstacle behind the car gets closer, the
acoustic signal becomes more
frequent.

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CAR
tyre low pressure control warning lightswitches on constantly, the inflation
pressure must be adjusted until it
reaches the pressure prescribed for
cold tyres. After the automatic update
of the system, the tyre pressure control
warning light switches off. You may
need to drive the car for about 20
minutes at a speed higher than 20 km/h
to allow the TPMS to receive this
information.
NOTE
The TPMS does not replace the
normal tyre maintenance service and
does not indicate any fault in a tyre.
Therefore, the TPMS should not be
used as pressure switch while adjusting
the tyre inflation pressure.
Driving with insufficient tyre pressure
causes their overheating and can result
in tyre failure. The low inflation pressure
reduces fuel efficiency and tyre tread life
and may also affect handling and
braking performance of the car.
The TPMS does not replace the
correct tyre maintenance. It is up to the
driver to maintain the correct tyre
pressure level measuring it with a
suitable pressure switch. This is
necessary even if the decrease in the
inflation pressure value does not cause
the tyre pressure control warning light
to switch on.
The TPMS warns the driver of any
condition of insufficient tyre pressure Ifthis drops below the insufficient
pressure limit for any reason including
low temperature and normal pressure
loss of the tyre.
The seasonal temperature changes
affect tyre pressure.
The TPMS uses wireless devices with
electronic sensors mounted on the
wheel rims to constantly monitor the
value of tyre pressure. The sensors
mounted on each wheel as part of the
valve stem transmit various information
of the tyres to the receiver module, in
order to calculate the pressure.
IMPORTANT Monitoring and
maintaining the correct pressure in all
four tyres are particularly important.

The system warns the driver if one or
more tyres are flat by the dedicated
warning light
continuously on in the
instrument panel and by displaying
dedicated messages. In this case, stop the car as soon as
possible, check the inflation pressure of
each tyre and inflate to the cold tyre
pressure value prescribed for the car.
The system will automatically update
and after receiving the tyre pressure
update the tyre pressure control
warning light switches off. You may
need to drive the car for about 20
minutes at a speed higher than 20 km/h
to allow the system to receive this
information.TPMS operation faults
The system fault is indicated by the
dedicated warning lightwhich first
flashes for 75 seconds and then stays
on steadily. This can occur in any of the
following situations:
interference caused by electronic
devices or radio frequency emissions
similar to those of the TPM sensors.

interfere with the signals of the radio
waves.
Presence of snow or ice on the
wheels or the wheel arches.
Use of snow chains.
Use of wheels/tyres not equipped
with TPM sensors.

WARNING
46)The presence of the TPMS does not
permit the driver to neglect regular checks
of the tyre pressure, including for the spare
wheel.
47)Tyre pressure must be checked with
tyres rested and cold. Should it become
necessary for whatever reason to check
pressure with warm tyres, do not reduce
pressure even though it is higher than the
prescribed value. Repeat the check when
the tyres are cold.
48)Should one or more wheels be fitted
without sensors, the system will no longer
be available and, in addition to the TPMS
warning light flashing for less than one
minute before becoming constant, a
warning message will be shown on the
display, until four wheels with sensors are
fitted again.49)The TPMS cannot warn of sudden
decreases in tyre pressure (for example
when a tyre bursts). In this case, stop the
car, braking with caution and avoiding
abrupt steering.
50)Replacing standard tyres with winter
tyres (and vice versa) requires TPMS
adjustment that must only be performed by
a dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership.
51)Changes in outside temperature may
cause tyre pressures to vary. The TPMS
system may temporarily indicate insufficient
pressure. In this case, check the tyre
pressure when cold and, if necessary,
restore the inflation values.52)When a tyre is removed, it is advisable
to replace the rubber valve seal as well:
contact a dedicated Alfa Romeo
Dealership. Tyre and/or rim fitting/removal
operations require specific precautions; to
avoid damaging or fitting the sensors
incorrectly, tyre and/or rim fitting/removal
operations should only be carried out by
specialised staff. Contact a dedicated Alfa
Romeo Dealership.
53)Intense radio-frequency interference
may prevent the correct operation of the
TPMS. This condition will be indicated by a
message on the display. The message will
disappear automatically as soon as the
radio-frequency interference ceases to
affect the system.
