Dear Customer,
We would like to congratulate and thank you for choosing an Abarth 500. We have written this handbook to help you get to know all the
features of your car and use it in the best possible way. You should read it right through before taking to the road for the first time.
Here you will find information, advice and important warnings regarding use of your car and how to achieve the best performance from the
technological features of your Abarth 500. It also provides a description of special features and essential information for the care and
maintenance of your car over time as well as for safe driving.
We urge you to read the warnings and indications found throughout the text with care, marked with the following symbols:
personal safety;
vehicle integrity;
environmental protection.
NOTE These symbols, when necessary, are reported at the end of each paragraph and are followed by a number. That number recalls the
corresponding warning at the end of the relevant section.
In the attached Warranty Booklet you will also find a description of the Services that Abarth offers to its customers, the Warranty Certificate and
the detail of the terms and conditions for maintaining its validity.
We are sure that these will help you to get in touch with and appreciate your new car and the service provided by the people at Abarth.
Enjoy reading. Happy motoring!
This Owner Handbook describes all versions of the Abarth 500; please consider only the information relevant to your
car’s trim level, engine and version. All data contained in this publication is purely indicative. Fiat Group Automobiles can
modify the specifications of the vehicle model described in this publication at any time, for technical or marketing
purposes. For further information, contact an Abarth Dealership.
INSTALLING
ELECTRICAL/
ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Electrical and electronic devices
installed after buying the car in the
context of after-sales service must carry
the following label:
Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A.
authorises the installation of transceiver
devices on condition that such
installations are carried out in
a workmanlike fashion, following the
manufacturer’s instructions, at a
specialised centre.
IMPORTANT Traffic police may not
allow the car on the road if devices
have been installed which modify the
features of the car. This may also cause
invalidation of warranty in relation to
faults caused by the change either
directly or indirectly related to it.Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A. shall not
be liable for damage caused by the
installation of accessories either not
supplied or recommended by Fiat
Group Automobiles S.p.A. and/or not
installed in compliance with the
provided instructions.
RADIO TRANSMITTERS
AND MOBILE PHONES
Radio transmitter equipment (vehicle
mobile phones, CB radios, amateur
radio, etc.) cannot be used inside the
car unless a separate aerial is mounted
on the roof.
IMPORTANT The use of these devices
inside the passenger compartment
(without a separate aerial) may cause
the vehicle’s electronic systems to
malfunction. This could compromise
safety in addition to constituting a
potential hazard for passengers' health.
In addition, transmission and reception
of these devices may be affected by the
shielding effect of the car body. As far
as the use of EC-approved mobile
phones is concerned (GSM, GPRS,
UMTS), follow the usage instructions
provided by the mobile phone
manufacturer.
WARNING
56) Take care when fitting additional
spoilers or non-standard alloy
wheels: they could reduce the
ventilation of the brakes and
affect efficiency in sharp,
repeated braking or on long
descents. Make sure that nothing
obstructs the pedal stroke (mats,
etc.).

SCHEDULED
SERVICING
Correct servicing is crucial for
guaranteeing a long life for the car
under the best conditions.
For this reason, Abarth has planned a
series of checks and services at fixed
distance intervals or fixed time intervals,
as described in the Scheduled
Servicing Plan.
Before each service, it is always
necessary to carefully follow the
instructions in the Scheduled Servicing
Plan (e.g. periodically check level of
fluids, tyre pressure, etc.).
Scheduled Servicing is offered by all
Abarth Dealerships according to a set
time schedule. If, during each
operation, in addition to the ones
scheduled, the need arises for further
replacements or repairs, these may
be carried out only with the explicit
agreement of the Customer. If your car
is used frequently for towing, the
interval between one service operation
and the next should be reduced.IMPORTANT
INFORMATION
The Scheduled Servicing services are
set out by the Manufacturer. Failure
to have them carried out may invalidate
the warranty.
It is advisable to inform an Abarth
Dealership of any small operating
irregularities without waiting for the next
service.
For versions fitted with specific
equipment (e.g. Abarth Competizione
gearbox), in addition to what is
described in the Scheduled Servicing
Plan, refer to the relevant additional
items in the dedicated supplements.
