You can measure tongue weight with a bath-
room scale. Put the tongue of the loaded trail-
er on the scale with the tongue at hitch height.
Adjust the load in the trailer, if necessary, to
reduce the weight on hitch. If you are carrying
cargo and towing a trailer, include the tongue
weight in the maximum vehicle load limit.Operating when loaded with cargo or tow-
ing a trailer
Drive more slowly than you would without a
load. The more weight you carry, the slower
you should go. Although conditions vary, it is
good practice to keep the vehicle in low gear
whenever you are carrying heavier loads or
when towing a trailer.
WARNING
Carrying loads or towing a trailer can in-
crease the risk of loss of control, an over-
turn, or other accident. To reduce the risk
of an accident:●
Reduce speed, operate in low gear
only, and allow more room to stop. A
heavier vehicle takes longer to stop.
●
Avoid hills and rough terrain. Choose
terrain carefully. Use extreme caution
when towing or carrying a load on in-
clines.
●
Turn gradually and go slowly.
MAXIMUM LOADING LIMIT●
Vehicle loading limit (total weight of

accessories and tongue weight):

●
Cargo bed: 272 kg (600 lb)
●

Pulling load (total weight of trailer and
cargo): 680 kgf (1500 lbf)
Tongue weight (vertical weight on trailer
hitch point): 50 kgf (110 lbf)

stall the nuts with their tapered side towards
the wheel.YXM700PF/YXM700PHF1. Tapered nut2. Lower the vehicle so that the wheel is onthe ground. 3. Tighten the wheel nuts in a crisscross
pattern to the specified torque.
WARNING
Do not reverse the rims on your Yamaha
Viking to widen the track width. Installing wheels improperly increases the risk of
wheel failure and accidents.

TIPThe tailgate can be removed to make it easier
to clean the cargo bed. To separate the tail-
gate from the cargo bed, unhook the latches,
lift the left side of the tailgate and pull the tail-
gate to the left.4. Once the majority of the dirt has been hosed off, wash all surfaces with warm
water and mild, detergent-type soap. An
old toothbrush or bottle brush is handy for
hard-to-get-at places.
5. Rinse the vehicle off immediately with clean water and dry all surfaces with a
clean chamois towel or soft, absorbent
cloth.
6. Clean the seats with a vinyl upholstery cleaner to keep the covers pliable and
glossy. 7. Automotive-type wax may be applied to
all painted and chrome-plated surfaces.
Avoid combination cleaner-waxes. Many
contain abrasives which may scratch the
paint or protective finish. When finished,
start the engine and let it idle for several
minutes.1XP7C_EE.book Page 2 Monday, June 9, 2014 5:17 PM
