Front fog lights*
Front fog light button
The front fog lights can be used in combination with the high/low beam headlights or the parkinglights. Both fog lights also illuminate when thevehicle is backing up. Press the button to turn the fog lights on/off. The indicator symbol
in the instrument panel
illuminates when the front fog lights are on.
Corner illuminationThe front fog lights include corner illumination, which temporarily provides extra light to the frontleft or right of the vehicle (depending on whichway the vehicle is turned) when making a sharpturn at low speeds (for example, when turninginto a parking space) or when the turn signals areused. This function is activated when the high or lowbeam headlights are used and the vehicle'sspeed is under approx. 20 mph (30 km/h).

Brake lights The brake lights illuminate automatically when the brakes are applied.
In addition to illuminating when the brake pedal is depressed, the brake lights also illuminate whenone of the driver support systems (e.g., adaptivecruise control, City Safety or collision warning)slow the vehicle.

Loading
The load carrying capacity of your vehicle is determined by factors such as the number ofpassengers, the amount of cargo, the weight ofany accessories that may be installed, etc.
Tailgate opening button on the lighting panel
Open the tailgate by pressing the button on the lighting panel, pressing the
button on the
remote key or by using the optional foot move- ment sensor under the rear bumper.
Loading recommendations
• Load objects in the cargo compartment against the backrest whenever possible.
• If the backrests of the second row seats arefolded down, they should not be in contactthe front seat backrests. This could impede the function of the Whiplash ProtectionSystem (WHIPS).
• Unstable loads can be secured to the loadanchoring eyelets with straps or web lash-ings to help keep them from shifting.
• Stop the engine and apply the parking brakewhen loading or unloading long objects. Thegear selector can be knocked out of positionby long loads, which could set the vehicle inmotion.

• The vehicle's driving characteristics may change depending on the weight and dis-tribution of the load.
• A 44-pound (20 kg) object produces aforce of 2,200 pounds (1,000 kg) in ahead-on collision at 30 mph (50 km/h).
• The cargo area and rear seat should notbe loaded to a level higher than 2 in.(5 cm) below the upper edge of the rearside windows. Objects placed higher thanthis level could impede the function ofthe Inflatable Curtain.

Raising/lowering the rear-end of the vehicle *
Using the buttons on the read edge of the cargo compartment, the rear-end of the vehicle (thelevel of the cargo compartment floor) can beraised or lowered for easier loading or to make attaching a trailer 1
simpler.

5. Attach the mounting bracket's hook through
the cargo anchoring eyelet near the floor of the cargo compartment and insert the threa-ded section of the bracket through the grid'slower attachment hole (1).
6. Slide the plastic sleeve onto the threaded section of the of the mounting bracket withthe sleeve's flange turned upward and pressit down through the hole. Screw the screwcover into place until its underside isapprox. 0.2 in. (5 mm) from the grid (2).
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the opposite side.
8. Center the grid and tighten both mounting brackets alternately until the grid is held securely in place.
RemovingPerform the steps above in reverse order. Thehooks can be removed before the plastic sleevesare removed from the holes in the grid.

Driver support systems
The vehicle is equipped with a number of driver support systems that help provide the driver withactive/passive support.
Some of these systems are standard while others are optional and they are designed to e.g., helpthe driver maintain a set speed or a set distanceto a vehicle ahead, or warn the driver of a poten-tial collision situation and in certain cases applythe brakes if necessary. Standby mode due to action by the driverACC is temporarily deactivated and put in standby mode if:
• the brakes are applied
• The gear selector is moved to

• the vehicle is driven faster than the set speed for more than 1 minute. In these cases, the driver will have to regulate the vehicle's speed. A temporary increase in speed, such as when passing another vehicle, does not affect the ACCset speed. The vehicle will return to the set speedwhen the accelerator pedal is released.
Automatic standby modeACC interacts with other systems, such as Electronic Stability Control. If any of these othersystems are not functioning properly, ACC willturn off automatically.
WARNING
If this happens, the driver will be alerted by an audible signal and a message in the instru-ment panel. The driver will have to adapt thevehicle's speed, apply the brakes when nec-essary and keep a safe distance to the vehicleahead.
ACC switches automatically to standby mode if: • the vehicle's speed goes below approx. 3 mph (5 km/h) and ACC cannot determineif the vehicle ahead is stationary or is anobject such as a speed bump, etc
• the vehicle's speed goes below approx.3 mph (5 km/h) and the vehicle aheadchanges lanes or turns so that ACC nolonger has a target vehicle to follow
• the driver opens the door
• the driver unbuckles the seat belt •
engine speed (rpm) is too high/low
• the wheels lose traction
• the parking brake is applied
• the stability system's
ESC Sport Mode is
activated
• the
Off Road drive mode is selected
• The radar sensor is covered by e.g., wet snow or if heavy rain interferes with radar waves
Reactivating ACC from standby modeTo reactivate ACC after it has temporarily been put in standby mode:
–Press the button (1).
> The vehicle will then return to the most
recently set speed .
WARNING
There may be a significant increase in speed after the
button has been pressed.

Pilot Assistauto-hold brake function
At certain speeds, Pilot Assist provides braking effect.
Stop-and-go drivingDuring brief stops in slow-moving traffic or att traffic lights where the vehicle is not stopped formore than 3 seconds, driving will resume auto-matically. If it takes more than 3 seconds for thevehicle ahead to begin moving again, Pilot Assistwill go into standby mode and the auto-holdbrake function will activate. The driver will then have to reactivate Pilot Assist as follows:
–• Press the button
• Press the accelerator pedal
> Pilot Assist will resume following the vehi- cle ahead if it begins to move within approx. 6 seconds.
NOTE
• Pilot Assist can keep the vehicle station- ary for max. 5 minutes, after which theparking brake will be set and Pilot Assistwill go into standby mode.
• The parking brake must be releasedbefore Pilot Assist can be reactivated.
Deactivating the auto-hold brake functionIn certain situations, auto-hold will be deactivated when the vehicle is at a standstill and Pilot Assistwill go into standby mode. This means that the brakes will be released and the vehicle can begin to roll. The driver must actively apply the brakes to keep the vehicle at a standstill. This can occur in the following situations: • the driver presses the brake pedal
• the parking brake is set
• the gear selector is moved to the
P, N or R
positions
• the driver puts Pilot Assist in standby mode
Automatically setting the parking brakeIn certain situations, the parking brake is set automatically to help keep the vehicle at a stand-still. This occurs if:
• the driver unbuckles the seat belt or opens the door
• Pilot Assist has kept the vehicle at a stand-still for more than approx. 5 minutes
• the engine is turned off
• the brakes overheat

Other Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) functionsACC is an optional system designed to assist
the driver by maintaining a set speed or a set time interval to the vehicle ahead.
ACC has several supplementary functions:
• Changing target vehicles
• Automatic standby mode when changing tar- gets
• Auto-hold brake function
• Deactivation of the auto-hold brake function
• Automatically setting the parking brake
Changing target vehicles
If the target vehicle turns suddenly, there may be a sta- tionary vehicle ahead
When ACC is actively following another vehicle at speeds
under 20 mph (30 km/h) and changes
targets from a moving vehicle to a stationary one, the system will brake for the stationary vehicle.
WARNING
If ACC changes targets from a moving vehicle to a stationary one at speeds above 20 mph
(30 km/h), the system will not react to the
stationary vehicle and will accelerate to the previously set speed. The driver must actively apply the brakes to slow/stop the vehicle.
Automatic standby mode when changing targets
ACC disengages and goes into standby mode if:
• your vehicle's speed goes below approx. 3 mph (5 km/h) and ACC cannot determine ifthe target object is a stationary vehicle orsome other type of object such as a speedbump, etc
• the vehicle's speed goes below approx.3 mph (5 km/h) and the vehicle aheadchanges lanes or turns so that ACC nolonger has a target vehicle to follow
Auto-hold brake functionIn slow-moving, stop-and-go traffic or when stop- ped at a traffic light, driving will resume automati-cally if the vehicle is not stopped for more thanapprox. 3 seconds. If it takes more than3 seconds for the vehicle ahead to begin movingagain, ACC will go into standby mode and theauto-hold brake function will activate.
–The driver will then have to reactivate ACC in one of the following ways:
• Press the
button on the left-side
steering wheel keypad
• Press the accelerator pedal
> ACC will resume following the vehicle ahead (target vehicle) if it begins to move
within approx. 6 seconds.
NOTE
ACC can keep the vehicle at a standstill for up to 5 minutes, after which the parking brakewill be set and ACC will go into standbymode. The parking brake has to be released before ACC can be reactivated.
