Tire inflation pressure
■Effects of incorrect tire inflation pressure
Driving with incorrect tire inflation pressure may result in the following:
● Reduced fuel efficiency
● Reduced driving comfort and tire life
● Reduced safety
● Damage to the drive train
If a tire needs frequent inflating, have it checked by any authorized Toyota
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
■ Instructions for checking tire inflation pressure
When checking tire inflation pressure, observe the following:
● Check only when the tires are cold.
If your vehicle has been parked for at least 3 hours or has not been driven
for more than 1.5 km or 1 mile, you will get an accurate cold tire inflation
pressure reading.
● Always use a tire pressure gauge.
The appearance of the tire can be misleading . In addition, tire inflation pres-
sure that is even just a few pounds off can affect ride quality and handling.
● Do not reduce tire inflation pressure after driving. It is normal for tire inflation
pressure to be higher after driving.
● Never exceed the vehicle capacity weight.
Passengers and luggage weight should be placed so that the vehicle is bal-
anced.
Make sure to maintain the proper tire inflation pressure. Tire
inflation pressure should be checked at least once per month.
However, Toyota recommends that tire inflation pressure be
checked once every two weeks. ( →P. 416)

Fuel pump shut off system
Follow the procedure below to restart the engine after the system is
activated.
XVehicles without a smart entry & start system
Turn the engine switch to the “ACC” or “LOCK” position.
Restart the engine.
XVehicles with a smart entry & start system
Turn the engine switch to ACCESSORY mode or turn it off.
Restart the engine.
To minimize the risk of fuel leakage when the engine stalls (1KR
engine only) or when an airbag inflates upon collision, the fuel
pump shut off system stops the supply of fuel to the engine.
NOTICE
■ Before starting the engine
Inspect the ground under the vehicle.
If you find that fuel has leaked onto the ground, the fuel system has been
damaged and is in need of repair. Do not restart the engine.

Slip indicator (if equipped)
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC system;
• The TRC system; or
• The hill-start assist control system.
The light will flash when the VSC, the TRC or the hill-start
assist control system is operating.
→ Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional immediately.
(Flashes in yellow for 15 seconds)
Smart entry & start system indicator light (warning
buzzer) (if equipped)
Indicates a malfunction in the smart entry & start system
→ Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional immediately.
Open door warning light (warning buzzer)*2
Indicates that a door is not fully closed
→ Check that all the doors are closed.
Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt reminder light
(warning buzzer)*3, 4
Warns the driver and/or front passenger to fasten their
seat belts
→ Fasten the seat belt.
If the front passenger’s seat is occupied, the front
passenger’s seat belt also needs to be fastened to
make the warning light (warning buzzer) turn off.

Rear passengers’ seat belt reminder lights (warning

Warn the rear passengers to fasten their seat belts
→ Fasten the seat belt.
Low fuel level warning light
Indicates remaining fuel is approximately 5.25 L (1.4 gal.,
1.1 Imp.gal.) or less
→ Refuel the vehicle.
