Location of the side airbag in the driver's seat / gas-filled airbag
In the event of severe side collisions, the side airbags provide additional pro-
tection for the upper body (chest, stomach and pelvis) of passengers in the ve-
hicle.
The side airbags are housed in the upholstery of the seat backrests of the
front seats » Fig. 10 -
 .
The load of the occupants is cushioned when plunging into the fully inflated
airbag » Fig. 10 -
 the risk of injury to the entire upper body (chest, stomach
and pelvis) is reduced on the side facing the door.
WARNINGInformation on correct seating position■Your head should never be positioned in the deployment area of the side
airbag. You might suffer severe injuries in the event of an accident. This ap-
plies in particular to children who are transported without using a suitable
child safety seat » page 22, Child safety and side airbag .■
There must not be any further persons, animals or objects positioned be-
tween the occupants and the deployment area of the airbag. No accesso-
ries, such as cup holders, should be attached to the doors.
■
If children adopt an incorrect seated position when travelling, they may
be exposed to an increased risk of injury in the event of an accident. This
can result in serious injuries » page 20, Child seat .
WARNING■
Do not place any objects within the deployment area of the side airbags –
there is a risk of injury!■
The airbag system operates using pressure sensors located in the front
doors. For this reason, no adjustments may be carried out to the doors or
door panels (e.g. installation of additional loudspeakers). Further informa-
tion » page 138 , Airbags .
■
Ensure that there are no excessive forces, such as violent knocks, kicks
etc., which impact on the backrests of the seats, otherwise the system may
be damaged. The side airbags would not be deployed in such a case!
■
Any seat or protective covers which you fit to the driver or front passen-
ger seats must only be of the type expressly authorized by ŠKODA. In view
of the fact that the airbag inflates out of the backrest of the seat, use of
non-approved seat or protective covers would considerably impair the pro-
tective function of the side airbag.
■
Any damage to the original seat covers in the area of the side airbag mod-
ule must be repaired without delay by your specialist garage.
■
The airbag modules in the front seats must not display any damage,
cracks or deep scratches. It is not permissible to use force in order to open
the modules.
Note
In vehicles with side airbags, a label with the lettering  is located on the
front seat backrests.

Note■The headlights may mist up temporarily. When the driving lights are switched
on, the light outlet areas are free from condensation after a short time, al-
though the headlight lenses may still be misted up around the edge. This mist
has no influence on the life of the lighting system.■
If the visibility is poor and the lights are not on (except daytime running
light), the brightness of the instrument lighting reduces to alert the driver to
switch on the lights in due time.
■
The brightness of the instrument lighting with the lights on (except daytime
running lights) can be set in the Infotainment » Owner's Manual Infotainment ,
chapter CAR - Vehicle Settings .

lowing car load.

Driver seat occupied, boot loadedWARNINGAlways adjust the headlight beam to meet the following conditions.■The vehicle does not dazzle other road users, especially oncoming vehi-
cles.■
The beam range is sufficient for safe driving.
Note
■ The light switch is in position  or  and the ignition is turned off, the low
beam is switched off automatically 1)
and the status light is lit. The side light is
switched off when the ignition key is removed, for vehicles with the start but-
ton after switching off the ignition and opening the driver's door.■
If there is a fault in the light switch, the low beam comes on automatically.
Daylight running lights (DAY LIGHT)
Read and observe
on page 59 first.
The daytime running light (hereinafter referred to as "function") lights the
front and rear vehicle area (only valid for some countries).
The lights are switched on automatically if the following conditions are met. The light switch is in the position 

The ignition is switched on.
The parking aid is activated.

The function can be disabled/enabled in the Infotainment » Owner´s Manual

Electrically-adjustable mirrors
The knob can be moved (depending on vehicle equipment) into the following

Mirror heater
The mirror heating only works when the engine is running.
Folding in the exterior mirrors
The whole exterior mirror can be manually folded towards the side windows.
To restore it to its original position, fold back from the side window until it au-
dibly clicks into place.WARNINGDo not touch the exterior mirror surfaces if the exterior mirror heater is
switched on - risk of burns.
Note
If the electrical mirror setting fails at any time, the mirrors can be adjusted by
hand by pressing on the edge of the mirror surface.Seats and headrests

70WARNING■ Only adjust the driver's seat when the vehicle is stationary – risk of acci-
dent.■
Caution when adjusting the seat! You may suffer crushing injuries as a re-
sult of adjusting the seat without paying proper attention.
■
Do not transport any objects on the front passenger seat other than ob-
jects intended for this purpose (e.g. child safety seat) – risk of accident.
Note
After a certain time, play can develop within the adjustment mechanism for
the backrest angle.
