A- External transmitter B- Internal transmitterWA R N I N G Individuals using ot
her electro-medical
apparatus besides implantable pacemak- ers and implantable
cardiovascular-defi-
brillators should check with themanufacturer of the apparatus to confirm the effect of the electromagnetic waves used by the F.A.S.T.-key. The electromag-netic waves may affect
the operations of
the electro-medical apparatus.
NOTE
The F.A.S.T.-key uses weak electromagnetic waves. In cases such as the following, operation may be imprope
r or unstable.
• The vehicle is near a facility that emits strong electroma
gnetic waves, such as a TV
transmitting tower, a pow
er station, a radio
station or an airport • The key is carried together with other com- munication devices such
as cellular phones
or radios, or electrical appliances such as computers • The F.A.S.T.-key touches or is covered by a metal object • A keyless entry system is being used nearby • The battery of the F.A.S.T.-key is run down • The vehicle is in a location with strong electromagnetic
waves or noise
Use the emergency key in such circum- stances.Refer to “To operate
without using the
F.A.S.T.-key” on page 5-19. The F.A.S.T.-key is constantly performing reception operations
in its communication
with the vehicle. This means that the battery is always running down, regardless of howoften the F.A.S.T.-key is used. The battery life is about 1 to 2 years, depending on the usage conditions. Since the F.A.S.T.-key is constantly perform- ing reception operati
ons, the reception of
strong electrom
agnetic waves
can accelerate
the running down of the
battery. Do not place
near to electrical appliances such as televi-sions or computers.

Door locks
WA R N I N G Make sure all doors are tightly closed and locked while driving.• Locked doors, in co
mbination with the
use of seat belts, can help reduce the riskof ejection in
an accident.
• Locked doors can help keep passengers, especially small children, from opening doors and falling out
of moving vehicles.
• Locked doors can help
prevent outsiders
from gaining access to your vehicle when you slow or come to a stop.
Lock your vehicle whenever you leave it. Children who get into unlocked vehiclesmay not be able to get out. Childrentrapped inside vehicles can quickly be overcome by heat and suffer serious injury or death due to heat stroke. Never leave a child alon
e in the vehicle. In
addition to the risk
of heat stroke, chil-
dren can activate switches and controls, resulting in an injury
or fatal accident.
When closing a door,
make sure that the
door is fully closed and the door-ajar warning display goes out on the informa-tion screen on the multi-information dis- play. If the door is aj
ar it could open while
driving and caus
e an accident.

WA R N I N G Always keep the door
s tightly closed and
locked when driving. An unlocked doormay be accidentally
opened by a passen-

a child who could fall
out. Also, if the doors are not locked, thereis a greater risk of someone being thrown from the vehicle
in an ac
cident.
Liftgate
WA R N I N GIt is dangerous to drive with the liftgate open since carbon mo
noxide (CO) gas can
enter the passenger compartment. CO is an invisible,
odorless gas that can
cause unconsciousness and even death. When opening and closing the liftgate, make sure that there are no people nearbyand be careful not to hit your head or pinch your hands, neck, etc.CAUTION Do not stand behind th
e exhaust pipe when
loading and unloading
luggage. Heat from
the exhaust could lead to burns.NOTE
Locking and unlocking the doors by using the power door lock swit
