Installing/removing the cargo compart-
ment cover X
To remove: make sure that cargo com-
partment cover 0043is rolled up.
X Press handle 0044on the right underside to
the left.
X Remove cargo compartment cover 0043.
X To install: attach cargo compartment
cover 0043to the opening on the left-hand
side.
X Press handle 0044to the left.
X Allow cargo compartment cover 0043to
engage in the appropriate recess. Cargo net
Important safety notes G
WARNING
On its own, the cargo net cannot secure or
restrain heavy objects, items of luggage and
heavy loads. You could be hit by an unsecured load during sudden changes in direction,
braking or in the event of an accident. There isan increased risk of injury or even fatal injury.
Always store objects so that they cannot be
flung around. Secure objects, luggage or
loads against slipping or tipping over, e.g. by
using tie downs, even if you are using the
cargo net.
It is important to use a cargo net if you load
the vehicle with small objects above the seat backrests. For safety reasons, always use a
cargo net when transporting loads.
Preparing the cargo net The cargo net can be used in two different
positions (behind the B-pillar or the C-pillar). R
The brackets behind B-pillar 0043are
required for the cargo compartment
enlargement (Y page 276).
The corresponding cargo tie down rings to
tighten the net are located in the footwell of
the rear bench seat (Y page 277).
R The brackets behind C‑pillar 0044are
required for the cargo compartment behind
the rear bench seat.
The corresponding cargo tie down rings to
tension the net are located in the cargo
compartment (Y page 277).
The cargo net is located in the loading tray in the stowage well under the cargo compart-
ment floor (Y page 281).
X Open both Velcro fasteners and remove the
cargo net.
X Unroll and unfold the cargo net.
The upper and lower guide rods must

X Insert guide rod 0044into retainer 0043in the
direction of the arrow.
X Slide guide rod 0044forwards into retainer 0043
in the direction of the arrow.
Tightening the cargo net Seat belt reel holder behind the front seats
X Insert belt hook 0043into cargo tie-down
ring 0044in the direction of the arrow.
X Pull tensioning strap 0087by the loose end in
the direction of the arrow until the cargo
net is tight.
X After driving a short distance, check the
tension of the cargo net and retighten it if
necessary. Releasing the cargo net Seat belt reel holder behind the front seats
X Pull belt adjuster 0043upwards in the direc-
tion of the arrow to reduce the tension on
the tensioning strap.
X Unhook belt hook 0044from cargo tie-down
ring 0087.

Detach guide rod 0044from bracket 0043
(Y page 280).
X Press the red button on the upper and lower
guide rods.
X Fold the cargo net and roll it up.
X Close the two Velcro fasteners on the cargo

Stowage well under the cargo com-

WARNING
If you drive when the cargo compartment floor is open, objects could be flung around, thus
striking vehicle occupants. There is a risk of
injury, particularly in the event of sudden
braking or a sudden change in direction.
Always close the cargo compartment floor
before a journey. X
To open: open the tailgate.
X Holding the ribbing, press handle 0043down-
wards 0044.
Handle 0043folds up.
X Swing the cargo compartment floor
upwards using handle 0043until it rests
against the cargo compartment cover. X
Release hook 0087from the bracket on the
underside of the cargo compartment floor. X
Engage hook 0087into rain trough 0085.
i Stowage compartments
0083and 0084can be
used to stow small, light and flat objects.
! Before you close the tailgate, unhook the
hook from the rain trough and fold the trunk floor down.
X To close: unhook hook 0087from rain
trough 0085.
X Fasten hook 0087to the bracket on the
underside of the cargo compartment floor.
X Fold the trunk floor down.
X Press the cargo compartment floor down
until it engages. Roof carrier

WARNING
When you load the roof, the center of gravity
of the vehicle rises and the driving character- istics change. If you exceed the maximum roof
load, the driving characteristics, as well as
steering and braking, will be greatly impaired.There is a risk of an accident.
Never exceed the maximum roof load and
adjust your driving style.
! Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
only use roof carriers that have been tested
and approved for Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
This helps to prevent damage to the vehi-

Position the load on the roof rack in such a
way that the vehicle will not sustain dam-
age even when it is in motion.
Ensure that, depending on the vehicle's
equipment, you can raise the panorama
roof with power tilt/sliding panel fully and
open the tailgate fully when the roof carrier is installed.
The maximum roof load is 165 lbs(75 kg).
An incorrectly secured roof carrier or roof
load could become detached from the vehi-
cle. Therefore, always comply with the instal-
lation instructions supplied by the manufac-
turer of the roof carrier.

Cup holder
Important safety notes !
Only use the cup holders for containers of
the right size and which have lids. The
drinks could otherwise spill. G
WARNING
If objects in the passenger compartment are
stowed incorrectly, they can slide or be
thrown around and hit vehicle occupants.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction.
R Always stow objects so that they cannot be
thrown around in such situations.
R Always make sure that objects do not pro-
trude from stowage spaces, parcel nets or
stowage nets. R
Close the lockable stowage spaces while
driving.
R Stow and secure objects that are heavy,
hard, pointy, sharp-edged, fragile or too
large in the cargo compartment.
Observe the loading guidelines (Y page 274).

Do not sit on or support your body weight
on the rear seat armrest when it is folded
down, as you could otherwise damage it.
! Close the cup holder before folding the
rear seat armrest up. Otherwise, the cup
holder could be damaged. X

X To open: raise the rear seat armrest cover.
X Press release catch 0043.

WARNING
If the mirror cover of the vanity mirror is folded up when the vehicle is in motion, you could be
blinded by incident light. There is a risk of an
accident.

X Pull the sun visor out of retainer 0044.

Pull or push the sun visor in the direction of

Front ashtray !
The stowage space under the ashtray is
not heat resistant. Before placing lit ciga-
rettes in the ashtray, make sure that the
ashtray is properly engaged. Otherwise, the
stowage space could be damaged. X
To open: slide cover 0043forwards.
X To remove: open the cover of ashtray 0087.
X Hold ashtray 0087at the sides and lift it up 0044
and out.
X To re-install: press ashtray 0087into the
holder until engages.
X Close the lid of ashtray 0087.
X To close: pull cover 0043back. Features

Rear-compartment ashtray

To open: pull cover 0044out by its top edge.
X To remove the insert: press release but-
ton 0087and lift the insert up and out.
X To install the insert: install insert0043from
above into the holder and press down into
the holder until it engages. Cigarette lighter
G
WARNING
You can burn yourself if you touch the hot
heating element or the socket of the cigarette lighter.
In addition, flammable materials can ignite if:
R the hot cigarette lighter falls
R a child holds the hot cigarette lighter to
objects, for example
There is a risk of fire and injury.
Always hold the cigarette lighter by the knob.
Always make sure that the cigarette lighter is
out of reach of children. Never leave children unsupervised in the vehicle.
Your attention must always be focused on the traffic conditions. Only use the cigarette
lighter when road and traffic conditions per-
mit. X
Turn the SmartKey to position 2in the igni-
tion lock (Y page 149).
X To open: slide cover 0043forwards.
X Press in cigarette lighter 0044.
Cigarette lighter 0044will pop out automati-
cally when the heating element is red-hot.
X To close: pull cover 0043back. 12 V sockets
General notes X
Turn the SmartKey to position 1in the igni-
tion lock (Y page 149).
The sockets can be used for accessories with a maximum draw of 180 W(15 A). Accesso-
ries include such items as lamps or chargers
for mobile phones.
If you use the sockets for long periods when
the engine is switched off, the battery may
discharge.
An emergency cut-out ensures that the on-
board voltage does not drop too low. If the on-
board voltage is too low, the power to the
sockets is automatically cut. This ensures
that there is sufficient power to start the
engine. 284

DANGER
When a suitable device is connected, the
115 V power socket will be carrying a high
voltage. You could receive an electric shock if the connector cable or the 115 V power
socket is pulled out of the trim or is damaged
or wet. There is a risk of fatal injury. R
Use only connector cables that are dry and
free of damage.
R When the ignition is off, make sure that the
115 V power socket is dry.
R Have the 115 V power socket checked or
replaced immediately at a qualified speci-
alized workshop if it is damaged or has been
pulled out of the trim.
R Never plug the connector cable into a 115 V
power socket that is damaged or has been
pulled out of the trim. G
DANGER
If you reach into the power socket or plug
inappropriate devices into the power socket,
you could receive an electric shock. There is a risk of fatal injury.
Only connect appropriate devices to the
power socket.
! Note that work and repairs on the 115 V
power socket should only be carried out by
qualified specialist personnel.
General notes 115 V power socket
0043provides an alternat-
ing voltage of 115 V so that small electronic
devices can be connected. These devices,
such as games consoles, chargers and lap-
tops, should not consume more than a maxi-
mum of 150 watts altogether.
Requirements for operation of these devices:
R the electronic device that you connect has
a suitable connector and conforms to
standards specific to the country you are in.
R the plug of the electronic device is plugged
into 115 V power socket 0043.
R the maximum wattage of the device to be
connected must not exceed 150 watts.
R the on-board power supply is within a per-
missible voltage range.
R the 12 V sockets in the rear compartment
and the cargo compartment are opera-
tional (Y page 284). Features

Using the 115 V power socket
X
To switch on: switch the ignition on.
X Open flap 0087.
X Insert the plug of the electronic device into
115 V power socket 0043.
Indicator lamp 0044lights up.
X To switch off: remove the connector from
115 V socket 0043.
