6. Turn the socket and bulb assembly
to remove it. Carefully remove the
bulb from its socket in the refl ector by
gently pulling it straight backward out
of the socket.
7. Install the new bulb in the reverse order
of the removal procedure.
Side direction indicator lights, Brake
lights (LED type), Tail lights (LED
type), Tail lights (Boot lid side/Liftgate
side)

Due to the complexity and diffi culty
of the procedure, the LED bulbs must
be replaced by an expert repairer, we
recommend an Authorised Mazda
Repairer.
NOTE
LED bulb replacement is not possible
because it is built into the unit. Replace
the unit.

1. Make sure the ignition is switched off,
and the headlight switch is off.
2. Pull the centre of each plastic retainer
and remove the retainers.
3. Remove boot end trim.

5. Peel back the boot side trim.

7. Disconnect the bulb from the socket.

3. Turn the wing bolt and jack screw

6. Disconnect the bulb from the socket.

7. Install the new bulb.
8. Insert the wing bolt into the jack with
the jack screw pointing to the down
and turn the wing bolt clockwise to
temporarily tighten it.9. Turn the jack screw in the direction
shown in the fi gure.
10. Turn the wing bolt completely to secure
the jack.
NOTE
If the jack is not completely secured, it
could rattle while driving. Make sure the
jack screw is suffi ciently tightened.
11. Install the cover in the reverse order of
the removal procedure.
12. Insert the cover tabs and install the
cover.

Appearance Care
CAUTION
  Do not use steel wool, abrasive
cleaners, or strong detergents
containing highly alkaline or caustic
agents on chrome-plated or anodised
aluminium parts. This may damage
the protective coating; also, cleaners
and detergents may discolour or
deteriorate the paint.
 
(With detachable aerial) To prevent damaging the aerial,
remove it before entering a car wash
facility or passing beneath a low
overhead clearance.
Pay special attention to removing salt, dirt,
mud, and other foreign material from the
underside of the wings, and make sure the
drain holes in the lower edges of the doors
and rocker panels are clean.
Insects, tar, tree sap, bird droppings,
industrial fallout, and similar deposits
can damage the fi nish if not removed
immediately. When prompt washing with
plain water is ineffective, use a mild soap
made for use on vehicles.
Thoroughly rinse off all soap with
lukewarm or cold water. Do not allow
soap to dry on the fi nish.
After washing the vehicle, dry it with a
clean chamois to prevent water spots from
forming.
WARNING
Dry off brakes that have become
wet by driving slowly, releasing the
accelerator pedal and lightly applying
the brakes several times until the brake
performance returns to normal:
Driving with wet brakes is dangerous.
Increased stopping distance or the
vehicle pulling to one side when
braking could result in a serious
accident. Light braking will indicate
whether the brakes have been affected.
When using an automatic car wash
 




 Retract the door mirrors.



 The automatic car wash brushes could
reduce the paint lustre or hasten paint
deterioration.
When using a high water pressure car
wash
High water temperature and high water
pressure car washers are available
depending on the type of car wash
machine. If the car washer nozzle is
put too close to the vehicle, the force of
the spray could damage or deform the
molding, affect the sealability of parts,
and allow water to penetrate the interior.
Keep a suffi cient space (30 cm (12 in) or
more) between the nozzle and the vehicle.
In addition, do not spend too much time
spraying the same area of the vehicle, and
be very careful when spraying between
gaps in doors and around windows.

If Trouble Arises
Flat Tyre
NOTE
  The tyre sealant cannot be reused.
Purchase new tyre sealant at an
Authorised Mazda Repairer.
  The emergency fl at tyre repair kit
cannot be used in the following
cases.
 Consult an expert repairer, we
recommend an Authorised Mazda
Repairer.
 


 The period of effective use for
the tyre sealant has expired. (The
period of effectiveness is indicated
on the bottle label.)
 


 The tear or puncture exceeds about
4 mm (0.16 in).
 


 The damage has occurred to an
area of the tyre other than the
tread.
 


 The vehicle has been driven with
nearly no air remaining in the tyre.
 


 The tyre has come off the wheel
rim.
 


 Damage to the wheel rim has
occurred.
 


 The tyre has two or more
punctures.
Using the Puncture Tyre Repair
Kit
1. Move the vehicle off the right-of-way
to a safe place on a level and hard
surface where the vehicle does not
obstruct traffi c.
2. Shift the shift lever to the 1 or Reverse
(R) position for a manual transaxle, and
shift the selector lever to the P position
for an automatic transaxle.
3. Apply the parking brake with the brake
pedal depressed and turn off the engine.
4. If necessary, fl ash the hazard warning
lights and set up the roadside
emergency triangle.
5. Unload passengers and cargo and
remove the puncture tyre repair kit.
