Indicates that the hybrid
system has overheated
A buzzer also sounds.
This message may be
displayed when driving
under severe operating
conditions. (For exam-
ple, when driving up a
long steep hill.) Stop and check.

(Flashes) Indicates that the hybrid
battery (traction battery)
is low. • If a buzzer sounds inter-
mittently, stop the vehicle
in a safe place and shift
the shift lever to P to
charge the hybrid bat-
tery (traction battery).
• If a buzzer sounds con-
tinuously, immediately
stop the vehicle in a safe
place. Turn the
“POWER” switch off and
then to ON mode to
restart the hybrid system.
Ensuring the shift lever is
in P, charge the hybrid
battery (traction bat-
tery).
Indicates that remaining
fuel is approximately 2.7
gal. (10.1 L, 2.2 Imp. gal.)

Stopping the hybrid system
Shift the shift lever to P and press the “POWER” switch as you normally do when
stopping the hybrid system.■
Replacing the key battery
As the above procedure is a temporary measure, it is recommended that the elec-
tronic key battery be replaced immediately when the battery is depleted.

Changing “POWER” switch modes
Within 10 seconds of the buzzer sounding, release the brake pedal and press the
“POWER” switch.
The hybrid system does not start and modes will be changed each time the switch is
pressed. (  P. 1 7 8 )

Add coolant if necessary. Water can be used in an emer-
gency if coolant is unavailable.
Start the hybrid system and check for the multi-information dis-
play.
If the message does not disappear:
Stop the hybrid system and contact your Lexus dealer.
If the message is not displayed:
Have the vehicle inspected at the nearest Lexus dealer.STEP 5
CAUTION■
To prevent an accident or injury when in specting under the hood of your vehicle●
If steam is seen coming from under the hood, do not open the hood until the
steam has subsided. The engine compartm ent may be very hot, causing serious
injuries such as burns.●
After the hybrid system has been turned off, check that the indicator on the
“POWER” switch and the “READY” indicator are off.
When the hybrid system is operating, the gasoline engine may automatically
start, or the cooling fans may suddenly operate even if the gasoline engine stops.
Do not touch or approach rotating parts such as the fans, which may lead to fin-
gers or clothing (especially a tie, a scarf or a muffler) getting caught, resulting in
serious injury.●
Do not loosen the radiator cap while the hybrid system and radiator are hot.
Serious injuries, such as burns, may re sult from hot coolant and steam released
under pressure. STEP 6

If the vehicle becomes stuck
■
When it is difficult to free the vehicleCarry out the following procedures if the tires spin or the vehicle becomes
stuck in mud, dirt or snow:
Stop the hybrid system. Set the parking brake and shift the shift
lever to P.
Remove the mud, snow or sand from around the front wheels.
Place wood, stones or some ot her material under the front
wheels to help provide traction.
Restart the hybrid system.
Shift the shift lever to the D or R position and release the park-
ing brake. Then, while exercising caution, depress the acceler-
ator pedal.STEP 1

Press the VSC off switch to turn off TRAC.
