Security feature
If a door is not opened within approx imately 60 seconds after the vehicle is
unlocked, the security feature automatically locks the vehicle again.■
Battery-saving function
If the vehicle is parked for a long period of time, the battery-saving function is acti-
vated in order to prevent the vehicle 12-v olt battery from bein g discharged and the
electronic key battery from being depleted. ●
In the following circumstances, unlock ing the vehicle using the entry function
may take longer than usual:
• When the entry function has not been used for 5 days or more
• When the electronic key has been left within approximately 6 ft. (2 m) of the
vehicle for 10 minutes or more●
If the entry function has not been used for 14 days or more, the vehicle cannot
be unlocked by a door other than the dr iver's door. To unlock the vehicle, grip
the driver's door handle or use the wireless remote control or the mechanical
key.
The system will resume operation when: ●
The vehicle is locked using the lock sensor.●
The vehicle is locked/unlocked using the wireless remote control function.
( P. 6 9 )●
The vehicle is locked/unlocked using the mechanical key. ( P. 7 8 1 )

Conditions affecting operation
The smart access system with push-button start uses weak radio waves. In the fol-
lowing situations, the communication betw een the electronic key and the vehicle
may be affected, preventing the smart access system with push-button start, wire-
less remote control and immobilize r system from operating properly.
(Ways of coping: P. 7 8 1 )●
When the electronic key battery is depleted●
Near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas station, radio st ation, large display,
airport or other facility that generates strong radio waves or electrical noise●
When carrying a portable radio, cellular phone, cordless phone or other wire-
less communication devices●
When the electronic key is in contact wi th, or is covered by the following metal-
lic objects
• Cards to which aluminum foil is attached
• Cigarette boxes that have aluminum foil inside
• Metallic wallets or bags
•Coins
• Hand warmers made of metal
• Media such as CDs and DVDs●
When multiple electronic keys are in the vicinity●
When another wireless key (that emits radio waves) is being used nearby●
When carrying the electronic key togeth er with the following devices that emit
radio waves
• Another vehicle's electronic key or a wireless key that emits radio waves
• Personal computers or person al digital assistants (PDAs)
• Digital audio players
• Portable game systems●
If window tint with a metallic content or metallic objects are attached to the rear
window

To operate the system properly
Make sure to carry the electronic key wh en operating the system. Do not get the
electronic key too close to the vehicle wh en operating the system from the outside
of the vehicle.
Depending on the position and holding condition of the electronic key, the key may
not be detected corr ectly and the system may not operate properly. (The alarm may
go off accidentally, or the door lock prevention function may not operate.)■
If the smart access system with push-button start does not operate properly ●
Locking and unlocking the doors: Use the mechanical key. ( P. 7 8 1 )●
Starting the hybrid system: P. 7 8 2■
Electronic key battery depletion ●
The standard battery life is 1 to 2 years. (The card key battery life is about a year
and a half.)●
If the battery becomes low, an alarm will sound in the cabin when the hybrid sys-
tem stops. ( P. 7 5 6 )●
As the electronic key always receives radio waves, the battery will become
depleted even if the electronic key is not used. The following symptoms indicate
that the electronic key battery may be depleted. Replace the battery when nec-
essary. ( P. 6 8 7 )
• The smart access system with push-but ton start or the wireless remote con-
trol does not operate.
• The detection area becomes smaller.
• The LED indicator on the key surface does not turn on.●
To avoid serious deterioration, do not leave the electronic key within 3 ft. (1 m) of
the following electrical appliances that produce a magnetic field:
•TVs
• Personal computers
• Cellular phones, cordless phones and battery chargers
• Recharging cellular phones or cordless phones
• Induction cookers
• Table lamps

Reversing the operation of the power back door
Pressing the wireless remote control switch again while the power back door is
operating will cause the operation to reverse.■
Wireless remote control operation while the power back door is closing
If the wireless remote control is used to lock the doors while the power back door is
closing, the doors will lock after the power back door has completely closed. To
prevent locking the keys inside the vehicle, do not place the electric key inside the
vehicle while the power back door is closing.■

When reconnecting the 12-volt battery or changing a fuse while the back door is
open:
To enable the power back door to operate properly, initialize the system by com-
pletely closing the back door manually. If the 12-volt battery is reconnected or a
fuse is changed while the back door is cl osed, initializing the system is not neces-
sary. Remove the cover.

Before driving CAUTION●
In the following situations, the power b ack door may detect an abnormality and
automatic operation may be stopped. In this case, the back door has to be oper-
ated manually. Take extra care when on an incline, as the back door may open or
close abruptly.
• When the back door contacts an obstacle
• When the 12-volt battery voltage suddenly drops, such as when the
“POWER” switch is turned to ON mode or the hybrid system is started dur-
ing automatic operation●
If a bicycle carrier or similar heavy object is attached to the back door, the power
back door may not operate, causing itself to malfunction, or the back door may
suddenly shut again after being opened, causing someone’s hands, head or neck
to be caught and injured. When installing an accessory part to the back door,
using a genuine Lexus part is recommended.■
Jam protection function
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause death or serious injury. ●
Be careful while the jam protection function is operating. Being hit by the back
door may result in an injury.●
Although the back door stops closing wh en the jam protection function detects
an object, take extra care as you may still be injured if part of your body is already
caught.●
If anything obstructs the power back door while it is closing, the jam protection
function will cause the back door to automatically operate in the opposite direc-
tion. However, be careful not to jam body parts in the doorframe, as an injury may
result.●
Never use any part of your body to intent ionally activate the jam protection func-
tion.
●
The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just before
the back door fully closes. Be careful not to catch fingers or anything else.

CAUTION■
Closing the windows
Observe the following precautions.
Failing to do so may result in death or serious injury. ●
Check to make sure that all passengers do not have any part of their body in a
position where it could be caught when a window is being operated.●
Do not allow children to operate the power windows.
Closing a power window on someone can cause death or serious injury.
The driver is responsible for instructin g children not to operate the power win-
dows.■
Jam protection function ●
Never use any part of your body to intent ionally activate the jam protection func-
tion.●
The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just before
the window fully closes. Also, the jam protection does not operate when the
power window switch is pulled up continually to close the windows.
