For safety and security
LS600hL_U(OM50E41U)
CAUTION
■Road accident cautions
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of death or serious injury:
●Pull your vehicle off the road, apply the parking brake, shift the shift lever to P, and
turn the hybrid system off.
●Do not touch the high voltage parts, cables and connectors.
●If electric wires are exposed inside or outside your vehicle, an electric shock may
occur. Never touch exposed electric wires.
●If a fluid leak occurs, do not touch the flui d as it may be strong alkaline electrolyte
from the hybrid battery (traction battery). If it comes into contact with your skin or
eyes, wash it off immediately with a large amount of water or, if possible, boric
acid solution. Seek imme diate medical attention.
●If a fire occurs in the hybrid vehicle, leave the vehicle as soon as possible. Never
use a fire extinguisher that is not meant for electric fires. Using even a small
amount of water may be dangerous.
●If your vehicle needs to be towed, do so with four wheels raised. If the wheels con-
nected to the electric motor (traction mo tor) are on the ground when towing, the
motor may continue to generate electricity. This may cause an electricity leakage
leading to a fire. ( P. 4 8 6 )
●Carefully inspect the ground under the vehicle. If you find that liquid has leaked
onto the ground, the fuel system may have been damaged. Leave the vehicle as
soon as possible.
1703-3. Adjusting the seats
LS600hL_U(OM50E41U)
CAUTION
■Powe r r e a r s e a t s
●Seat adjustment
To reduce the risk of sliding under the lap belt during a collision, do not recline the
seat more than necessary.
If the seat is too reclined, the lap belt may slide past the hips and apply restraint
forces directly to the abdomen, or your neck may contact the shoulder belt,
increasing the risk of death or serious injury in the event of an accident.
Adjustments should not be made while driving as the seat may unexpectedly
move and cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
●When adjusting the seat position and ottoman angle (4-seat models)
Keep sufficient footwell space to prevent your feet from being caught by the front
seat.
●When returning the rear seats to the neutral position
To avoid injuring the rear passengers, wait until they have gotten out of the vehicle
before operating the switch.
●Using the ottoman (4-seat models)
• Do not sit on the ottoman. If someone sits on the ottoman, the seat belt cannot be fitted properly, and
they may be thrown from the seat, result ing in death or serious injury in the
event of an accident or sudden braking.
• When getting in or out of the vehicle, re tract the ottoman. If the ottoman is not
retracted, it may cause a fall, resulting in injury.
• Do not operate the ottoman when the vehicle is moving.
• Do not allow anyone to put their hands or feet under the passenger seat when stowing the ottoman.
■Using the pelvic support seat with seat vibrator and rear seat relaxation system
●Those who are pregnant, have recently given birth, or suffer from ailments requir-
ing rest (heart disease etc.) shou ld consult a doctor before use.
●Do not allow children to use the pelvic support seat vibration function or the rear
seat relaxation function.
●Do not use immediately after consuming a meal or alcohol, or for an extended
period of time.
●If you feel sick while using the pelvic support seat vibration function or the rear
seat relaxation function, immediately discontinue use.
1873-4. Adjusting the steering wheel and mirrors
3
Operation of each component
LS600hL_U(OM50E41U)
When the mirror select switch is in the “L” or “R” position, the outside rear
view mirrors will automatically angle downwards when the vehicle is
reversing in order to give a better view of the ground.
To disable this function, move the mirr or select switch to the neutral posi-
tion (between “L” and “R”).
■Adjusting the mirror angle when the vehicle is reversing
With the shift lever in R, adjust the mirror angle at a desired position.
The adjusted angle will be memorized and the mirror will automatically
tilt to the memorized angle whenever the shift lever is shifted to R from
next time.
The memorized downward tilt position of the mirror is linked to the normal
position (angle adjusted with the shift lever in other than R). Therefore, if the
normal position is changed after adjustment, the tilt position will also change.
When the normal position is changed, readjust the angle in reversing.
■Mirror angle can be adjusted when
The power switch is in ACCESSORY or ON mode.
■When the mirrors are fogged up
The outside rear view mirrors can be cleare d using the mirror defoggers. Turn on the
rear window defogger to turn on the outside rear view mirror defoggers. ( P. 3 5 8 )
■Automatic adjustment of the mirror angle
A desired mirror face angle can be entered to memory and recalled automatically
by the driving position memory. (P. 1 7 2 )
■Auto anti-glare function
When the anti-glare inside rear view mirror is set to automatic mode, the outside
rear view mirrors will activate in conjunction with the anti-glare inside rear view mir-
ror to reduce reflected light. ( P. 1 8 3 )
■Using automatic mode in cold weather
When automatic mode is used in cold weather, the door mirror could freeze up and
automatic stowing and return may not be possible. In this event, remove any ice and
snow from the door mirror, then either operate the mirror using manual mode or
move the mirror by hand.

Driving
LS600hL_U(OM50E41U)
Cargo capacity depends on the total weight of the occupants.
(Cargo capacity) = (Total load capacity) — (Total weight of occupants)
Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit —
(1) Locate the statement “The combine d weight of occupants and cargo
should never exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs.” on your vehicle’s placard.
(2) Determine the combined weight of the driver and passengers that will be riding in your vehicle.
(3) Subtract the combined weight of the driver and passengers from XXX kg or XXX lbs.
(4) The resulting figure equals the av ailable amount of cargo and luggage
load capacity.
For example, if the “XXX” amount equals 1400 lbs. and there will be
five 150 lb passengers in your vehi cle, the amount of available cargo
and luggage load capac ity is 650 lbs. (1400 750 (5150) = 650
lbs.)
(5) Determine the combined weight of luggage and cargo being loaded on
the vehicle. That weight may not safely exceed the available cargo and
luggage load capacity calculated in Step 4.
(6) If your vehicle will be towing a trailer, load from your trailer will be trans-
ferred to your vehicle. Consult this manual to determine how this
reduces the available cargo and luggag e load capacity of your vehicle.
( P. 213)
Lexus does not recommend towing a trailer with your vehicle. Your vehicle is not
designed for trailer towing.
Cargo and luggage
Take notice of the following information about storage precautions,
cargo capacity and load:
Capacity and distribution
2134-1. Before driving
4
Driving
LS600hL_U(OM50E41U)
◆Total load capacity (vehicle capacity weight): (P. 5 3 8 )
Total load capacity me ans the combined weight of occupants, cargo
and luggage.
◆Seating capacity:
5-seat models
5 occupants (Front 2, Rear 3)
4-seat models
4 occupants (Front 2, Rear 2)
Seating capacity means the maximum number of occupants whose
estimated average weight is 150 lb. (68 kg) per person.
◆Towing capacity
Lexus does not recommend towing a trailer with your vehicle.
◆Cargo capacity
Cargo capacity may increase or decrease depending on the weight
and the number of occupants.
■Total load capacity and seating capacity
These details are also described on the tire and loading information label. ( P. 4 6 4 )
Vehicle load limits
Vehicle load limits include total load capacity, seating capacity, towing
capacity and cargo capacity.
CAUTION
■Overloading the vehicle
Do not overload the vehicle.
It may not only cause damage to the tire s, but also degrade steering and braking
ability, resulting in an accident.
