■When the vehicle is not driven for extended periods
To prevent theft of the vehicle, do not leave the electronic key within 6 ft. (2 m) of the
vehicle.
■Alarm
Using the smart access system with push-but ton start to lock the doors will set the
alarm system. ( P. 9 0 )
■To operate the system properly
●Make sure to carry the electronic key wh en operating the system. Do not get the
electronic key too close to the vehicle wh en operating the system from the outside
of the vehicle.
Depending on the position and holding co ndition of the electronic key, the key
may not be detected correctly and the system may not operate properly. (The
alarm may go off accidentally, or the door lock prevention function may not oper-
ate.)
●Do not leave the electronic key inside the trunk.
The key confinement prevention function may not operate, depending on the loca-
tion of the key (close to a spare tire, the in side edge of the trunk), conditions (inside
a metal bag, close to metallic objects) and the radio waves in the surrounding area.

Treadwear indicator
Worn tread
The location of treadwear indicators is
shown by the “TWI” or “” marks, etc.,
molded on the sidewall of each tire.
Check spare tire condition and pres-
sure if not rotated.
Rotate the tires in the order shown.
To equalize tire wear and extend tire life, Lexus recommends that tire rotation is
carried out at the same interval as tire inspection.
Do not fail to initialize the tire pressu re warning system after tire rotation.

Replace or rotate tires in accordance with maintenance schedules and
treadwear.

■If the tread on snow tires wears down below 0.16 in. (4 mm)
The effectiveness of the tires as snow tires is lost.
■Situations in which the tire pressure warning system may not operate properly
●In the following cases, the tire pressure warning system may not operate properly.
• If non-genuine Lexus wheels are used.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not an OE (Original Equipment) tire.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not of the specified size.
• Tire chains etc. are equipped.
• Lock nuts are equipped.
• An auxiliary-supported run- flat tire is equipped.
• If a window tint that affects the radio wave signals is installed.
• If there is a lot of snow or ice on the vehicle, particularly around the wheels or wheel housings.
• If the tire inflation pressure is extremely higher than the specified level.
• If the spare tire is in a location subject to poor radio wave signal reception.

• If a large metallic object which can interfere with signal reception is put in the trunk.
*
• If tires not equipped with tire pressure warning valves and transmitters are used.
• If the ID code on the tire pressure warn ing valves and transmitters is not regis-
tered in the tire pressure warning computer.
*: Vehicles with a spare tire
●Performance may be affected in the following situations.
• Near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas station, radio station, large display,
airport or other facility that generates strong radio waves or electrical noise
• When carrying a portable radio, cellular phone, cordless phone or other wire- less communication device
If tire position information is not correc tly displayed due to the radio wave condi-
tions, the display may be corrected by driving and changing the radio wave condi-
tions.
●When the vehicle is parked, the time taken for the warning to start or go off could
be extended.
●When tire inflation pressure declines rapi dly for example when a tire has burst, the
warning may not function.

Tire pressure gauge
Remove the tire valve cap.
Press the tip of the tire pressure gauge onto the tire valve.
Read the pressure using the gauge gradations.
If the tire inflation pressure is not at the recommended level, adjust the
pressure.
If you add too much air, press the center of the valve to deflate.
After completing the tire inflation pressure measurement and adjust-
ment, apply soapy water to the valve and check for leakage.
Put the tire valve cap back on.
■Tire inflation pressure check interval
You should check tire inflation pressure every two weeks, or at least once a month.
Do not forget to check the spare.
■Effects of incorrect tire inflation pressure
Driving with incorrect tire inflation pressure may result in the following:
●Reduced fuel economy
●Reduced driving comfort and poor handling
●Reduced tire life due to wear
●Reduced safety
●Damage to the drive train
If a tire needs frequent inflating, have it checked by your Lexus dealer.

*1: Open door warning buzzer:A buzzer will sound if the vehicle reaches a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h) with any
door open.
*2: Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt buzzer:The driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt buzzer sounds to alert the driver and
front passenger that his or her seat belt is not fastened. Once the power switch is
turned to ON mode, the buzzer sounds for 6 seconds. If the vehicle reaches a
speed of 12 mph (20 km/h), the buzzer sounds once. If the seat belt is still unfas-
tened after 30 seconds, the buzzer will sound intermittently for 10 seconds. Then,
if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 20
more seconds.
Tire pressure warning light
When the light comes on:
Low tire inflation pressure
such as
• Natural causes ( P. 4 9 9 )
• Flat tire ( P. 506, 515)
Adjust the tire inflation pressure
(including the spare tire) to the
specified level.
The light will turn off after a
few minutes. In case the light
does not turn off even if the
tire inflation pressure is
