General maintenance should be performed
on a daily basis. This can be done by
yourself or by a Lexus dealer.
Scheduled maintenance should be performed at specified intervals according to
the maintenance schedule.
For details about maintenance items and schedules, refer to the “Warranty and Ser-
vice Guide”, “Owner’s Manual Supplement” or “Scheduled Maintenance”.
You can perform some maintenance procedures by yourself.
Please be aware that do-it-yourself maintenance may affect warranty coverage.
The use of Lexus repair manuals is recommended.
For details about warranty coverage, refer to the separate “Owner’s Guide”, “War-
ranty and Service Guide”, “Owner’s Manual Supplement” or “Warranty Booklet”.
Maintenance requirements
To ensure safe and economical driving, day-to-day care and regular mainte-
nance are essential. It is the owner’s responsibility to perform regular checks.
Lexus recommends the following maintenance:

■Repair and replacement
It is recommended that genuine Lexus parts be used for repairs to ensure performance
of each system. If non-Lexus parts are used in replacement or if a repair shop other than
a Lexus dealer performs repairs, confirm the warranty coverage.
■Reset the maintenance data (U.S.A. only)
After the required maintenance is performed according to the maintenance schedule,
please reset the maintenance data.
To reset the data, follow the procedure described below:While the engine is running, switch the multi-information display to the “Settings”
screen. ( →P. 8 1 )
Select “Maintenance System” on the “Settings” screen.
Select “Yes” on the “Maintenance System” screen.
■Allow inspection and repairs to be performed by a Lexus dealer
●Lexus technicians are well-trained specialists and are kept up to date with the latest ser-
vice information. They are well informed about the operations of all systems on your
vehicle.
●Keep a copy of the repair order. It proves that the maintenance that has been per-
formed is under warranty coverage. If any problem should arise while your vehicle is
under warranty, your Lexus dealer will promptly take care of it. A message will be displayed when the reset
procedure has been completed.

• The wiper blades should clear the windshield without
streaking or skipping.

■If the engine is running
Turn the engine off and ensure that there is adequate ventilation before performing
maintenance checks.

Treadwear indicator

The location of treadwear indicators is
shown by the “TWI” or “∆” marks, etc.,
molded on the sidewall of each tire.
Check spare tire condition and pressure
if not rotated.
XVehicles with front and rear tires of the same size
Rotate the tires in the order shown.
To equalize tire wear and extend tire life,
Lexus recommends that tire rotation is
carried out at the same interval as tire
inspection.
Do not fail to initialize the tire pressure
warning system after tire rotation.
XVehicles with front and rear tires of differing sizes
Tires cannot be rotated.

Replace or rotate tires in accordance with maintenance schedules and tread-
wear.

Remove the air conditioning filter
from the filter case and replace it
with a new one.
The “ ↑UP” marks shown on the filter
and the filter case sh ould be pointing up.
■Checking interval
Inspect and replace the air conditioning filter according to the maintenance schedule. In
dusty areas or areas with heavy traffic flow, early replacement may be required. (For
scheduled maintenance information, please refer to the “Owner’s Manual Supplement”
or “Scheduled Maintenance”.)
■If air flow from the vents decreases dramatically
The filter may be clogged. Check the filter and replace if necessary.

■When using the air conditioning system
Make sure that a filter is always installed.
Using the air conditioning system without a filter may cause damage to the system.

When trouble arises

Indicates a malfunction in the tire pressure warning sys-
tem
→Stop the vehicle in a safe place and turn the engine
switch off then on again.
If the tire pressure warning indicator flashes for 1
minute then illuminates, ther e is a malfunction in the
system. Have the vehicle inspected at your Lexus
dealer.
Indicates that the tire position information cannot be rec-
ognized
→ Drive for a short while and check if the display
updates.
If the radio wave conditio ns improve, the display
may return to normal. If the tire pressure is still not
displayed after driving for several minutes, stop the
vehicle in a safe place, turn the engine switch off
then on again, and start driving.
If the tire pressure is still not displayed even after
repeating this process several times, have the vehi-
cle inspected at your Lexus dealer.
Indicates that the washer fluid level is low
→ Add washer fluid.
Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 2.6 gal.
(10 L, 2.2 Imp. gal.) or less
→Refuel the vehicle.
Indicates that the TRAC (Traction Control) system has
been deactivated

Indicates that all maintenance according to the driven
distance on the maintenance schedule* should be per-
formed soon.
Comes on approximately 4500 miles (7200 km) after
the maintenance data has been reset.

Indicates that all maintenance is required to correspond
to the driven distance on the maintenance schedule*.
Comes on approximately 5000 miles (8000 km) after
the maintenance data has been reset.
(The indicator will not work properly unless the mainte-
nance data has been reset.)
→ Perform the necessary maintenance. Please reset
the maintenance data after the maintenance is per-
formed ( →P. 4 0 3 )
(If equipped)
Indicates that the Automatic High Beam switch is
pressed while the headlights are in low beam.
→ Turn the high beam on and press the Automatic
High Beam switch again.
(If equipped)
Indicates that, since the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
system was turned off, the pre-collision brake system
operation is stopped

Indicates that the PCS (Pre-Collision System) is not cur-
rently functional because the grille cover or the sensor is
dirty
→ Check the grille cover and the sensor and clean
them if they are dirty.
Indicates that operation of large electricity consuming
systems such as the air conditioning system are sus-
pended
→Stop using unnecessary electric components to
reduce electricity consumption. Wait a while until
the electric power supply is restored.

Indicates that the LDA (Lane Departure Alert) system
cannot be used because the vehicle speed is lower than
approximately 32 mph (50 km/h)
→Drive the vehicle at 32 mph (50 km/h) or higher.
