lect one of the 7 po ssible air distribution settings for the
passenger compartment:
Air flow to the winds creen and front side window dif-
fus ers to demis t/defrost them.
Air flow to the front and rear footwell diffu sers . This
air dis tribution allow s the passenger compartment to
be warmed up quickl y.

Air flow dis tribution between the footwell
diffusers and the winds creen and front s ide window
demis ting/defros ting diffusers. This distribution set-
ting allows the passenger compartment to be warmed
up efficiently and prevents the windows from mist-

well and prevents the windows from misting up.
IMPORTANT For the climate control system to function, at
leas t one of the following buttons must be on:

The system does not allow all the button s / / ˙to be
s witched off.
IMPORTANT Pus h the OFF button to turn the climate
control system back on: in this way, all operating condi-

Should it be necessary to carry a child on the
passenger side front seat in a rear facing
child restraint system, the passenger side
front airbag and side bag (for versions/markets,
where provided) must be deactivated through the
Setup menu. Deactivation should be verified by
checking whether the warning light is switched on
in the instrument panel. Move the passenger’s seat
as far back as possible to avoid contact between the
child restraint system and the dashboard.
Do not move the front or rear seat if a child
is seated on it or on the dedicated child re-
straint system.
On the sun visor there is a label with suitable
symbols to remind you that it is compulsory to
deactivate the airbag if a rear facing child re-
straint system is fitted. Always comply with the in-
structions on the passenger’s side sun visor (see the
“Front Airbags” paragraph). In Europe the characteristics of children restraint systems
are ruled by the regulation ECE-R44, dividing them into
five weight groups:
Group Weight range
Group 0 up to 10 kg
Group 0+ up to 13 kg
Group 1 9-18 kg
Group 2 15-25 kg
Group 3 22-36 kg
All restraint devices must bear the type-approval data
along with the control mark on a fixed label which must
never be removed in any circumstances. Lineaccessori
Lancia includes child restraint systems for each weight
group. These devices are recommended, having been
specifically designed for Lancia cars.

FRONT AIRBAGS
The car is provided with front airbags for the driver and
the passenger, driver’s knee bag (for versions/markets
where provided) and front side bags (side bags - window
bags).
The front airbags (driver, passenger driver’s knee bag)
protect the occupants of the front seats in the event of
moderate to serious front impacts by positioning the bag
between the occupant and the steering wheel or the dash-
board.
Therefore non-activation in other types of collisions (side
collisions, rear shunts, roll-overs, etc.) is not a system mal-
function.
An electronic control unit will make the bag inflate in the
event of a frontal impact.
The bag will inflate instantaneously placing itself between
the front occupants body and the structures which could
cause injury. It will deflate immediately afterwards.
The front airbags (driver, passenger, driver knee bag) do
not replace but rather complement the seat belts, which
you are always advised to wear, as specified by law in Eu-
rope and most non-European countries.
In the event of an impact, someone not wearing a seat belt
could move forward and come into contact with a bag
which is still in the opening phase. The protection offered
by the bag is reduced in such a case. The front airbags may not be activated in the following sit-
uations:
❍
front collisions against highly deformable objects not
affecting the front surface of the car (e.g. bumper col-
lision against guard rail, etc.);
❍ car wedging under other vehicles or protective barri-
ers (e.g. trucks or guard rails).
Failure to activate in the conditions described above is due
to the fact that they may not provide any additional pro-
tection compared with seat belts, so their activation would
be inappropriate. In these cases, non-deployment of the
airbag does not necessarily indicate a system malfunction.
Do not apply stickers or other objects on the
steering wheel, on the dashboard in the pas-
senger side airbag area, on the side uphol-
stery on the roof and on the seats. Never put ob-
jects (e.g. mobile phones) on the passenger side of
the dashboard since they could interfere with cor-
rect inflation of the passenger airbag and also cause
serious injury to the passengers.
155-182 Delta GB 1ed 26/08/13 11.29 Pagina 173
174SAFETY
The front airbags (driver, passenger, driver’s knee bags)
are designed and calibrated to protect front seat passen-
gers wearing seat belts.
Their volume at the moment of maximum inflation fills
most of the space between the steering wheel and the dri-
ver, between the lower post guard and the knees on pas-
senger side and between the dashboard and the passen-
ger.
The airbags are not deployed in the event of minor front
collisions (for which the restraining action of the seat belts
is sufficient). Safety belts must always be worn. In the
event of frontal impact they guarantee correct positioning
of the passenger. FRONT AIRBAG ON DRIVER’S SIDE fig. 12

FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG AND
CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
When an active passenger airbag is fitted, DO
NOT install rear facing child restraint sys-
tems on the front seat. Deployment of the
airbag in an accident could cause fatal injuries to
the child regardless of the severity of the collision.
A LWAY S comply with the instructions on the label
attached to the passenger side sun visor.
